What types of SUVs are there? Can you talk about it?

Most modern SUVs, sometimes called crossover vehicles or crossover multi-purpose vehicles (CUV), are more similar to typical cars than body frame trucks, which was more common in the past. Cars and SUVs within a brand can even enjoy its basic platform. Therefore, compared with truck-based vehicles, crossover vehicles have better handling and ride comfort. Usually, they provide all-wheel drive and can cope with moderate off-road conditions, but they are usually not designed for more challenging off-road conditions, such as rocks, deep water, deep sand or steep slopes. Most car SUVs have moderate traction capacity.

More and more pure electric SUVs come out, such as Audi E-Tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Kona Electric, Tesla Model X and Model Y, and other models such as Nissan Ariya and Chevrolet Bolt EUV are also on the way. These tend to be quiet and fast, but the cruising range and traction capacity are limited. For those who want more exciting off-road or traction, there are still some truck-based SUVs to choose from. These body frames usually share parts with pickup trucks of automobile manufacturers. For example, the parts of Toyota Tacoma pickup truck are shared with Toyota 4Runner. Compared with similar car models, they can usually carry and tow more vehicles, and when equipped with four-wheel drive and sufficient ground clearance, they can better cope with more serious off-road terrain. But their driving performance on smooth roads is poor, and their riding may be unstable. SUV body frame usually uses solid rear axle, just like pickup truck, but independent rear suspension is becoming more and more popular, which makes it have more comfortable riding experience and more sensitive handling characteristics. In fact, some newer truck-based redesigns, such as Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, have greatly improved the ride experience.
