The first is the change of rural diet concept. Because there are all kinds of stewed chicken, fried chicken, braised chicken and smoked chicken in ordinary farm dishes, I am used to it. Restaurants in towns and villages often take all kinds of beer ducks as signs. Duck neck, duck intestines, duck blood and duck gizzards are really blooming. Wild geese are rarely eaten in rural areas, and it is rarely heard that farmers stew wild geese. Of course, there may be some in some areas, but most of them are chicken, duck and fish.

The second is the change of rural ecological environment. In the past, there were idle groves or idle depressions and puddles in rural areas. A large area is close to the original ecology. Because geese like to go to puddles in their spare time and chase and play in the Woods at dusk. The activities of chickens and ducks can be limited to farmhouses. After all, compared with geese, they are small in body and have little activity. At worst, chickens and ducks can be kept in captivity. Moreover, it is enough to keep two or three geese in captivity, and there is no room for more.

Finally, the cost of raising geese is high. In ancient times, our ancestors summed up the saying that "the family has ten thousand tons of grain and doesn't want to raise a king with a flat mouth", in which the "king with a flat mouth" refers to geese. This proverb means that even if there are 10 thousand tons of surplus grain at home, we don't want to keep geese because they eat a lot. It's true. Goose is much bigger than chickens and ducks and eats more. Like chickens and ducks raised by farmers, they just need to give them some leftovers to eat, and then they will go to the wild to find some vegetables and insects to use. However, although geese are also herbivorous waterfowl, they eat a lot. In the words of the old farmer, "raising geese is like raising pigs", and a goose eats almost a catty of vegetables a day. And the growth cycle of geese is also relatively long. For example, chickens in some farms are released in more than a month, but it takes about 4-5 months to raise geese for sale.
