Some independent brands and musicians entrust other record companies or copyright agencies to be responsible for the distribution of a certain area, which makes it difficult to confirm the specific authorization between copyright owners and agents, including the application, duration and area of authorization for new media. In order to reduce this kind of copyright disputes, the only way is to make clear the copyright owner and the corresponding copy of copyright certificate in Chu Yuan as far as possible. Especially in China, the information provided by the licensor often lacks the information of the source copyright party.

In order to protect the intellectual property rights of music creators from infringement, some countries have set up collective management organizations for music copyright to join the CISAC Alliance, such as China (MCSC) Music Association, TMCS of Taiwan Province Province, CASH of Hong Kong, KOMCA of Korea and JSRAC of Japan. The songwriters and music copyright companies join the corresponding copyright collective management organizations as members, entrust the copyright collective management organizations to collect part of the copyright royalties, and the copyright collective management organizations extract a certain proportion as the operating expenses. Different copyright collective management organizations may sign mutual representation agreements. If JSRAC in Japan and CASH in Hong Kong have signed a mutual agency agreement, the royalties of the works of CASH members in Japan will be collected by JSRAC, and vice versa.

As I emphasized above, these copyright collective management organizations only collect part of the royalties on their behalf, because most of them only collect three kinds of royalties for the public use of copyright, including the right of public performance, the right of public broadcasting and the right of public communication. There are a few exceptions, such as independent songwriters entrusting all rights to collective management organizations. As for the specific application of these three rights, such as concert performance, radio broadcasting, background music of shopping malls/supermarkets/hotels/bars, etc. Therefore, at present, in the field of new media, most of the copyright royalties of lyrics and songs have little to do with copyright collective management organizations.

The way of copyright collective management organization also has its unscientific points, because most of the royalties collected in China are not counted according to the usage of songs, so the royalties collected in this way will often become a confused account when they are distributed to songwriters or copyright companies, and the interests of songwriters may not be truly guaranteed in the end.
