Photos and introduction of the former Wuhan Optics Valley (the development of Wuhan Optics Valley) urgently needed! ! ! !

The first one is a map of Wuhan from 30 years ago. At that time, after passing Zhuodaoquan, apart from the campuses of the Institute of Physical Education, the Institute of Geology, and the Chinese Engineering College, there were only a few contiguous houses in Luxiang, Guanshankou, and Guanshan. Minyuan Road and Chuxiong Avenue do not yet exist. (Seems like I can only post one picture? There are a lot of photos of Optics Valley now? Just look for it yourself...)

Lu Xiang has changed the most. In the early years, Luxiang was an intersection, but there was no big roundabout. The main road, Luoyu Road, had slightly more vehicles, and the other branches had very few vehicles. Based on my memories, I hand-drawn the general appearance of several roads. Mingyuan Road was built in 1983, and its current direction is different. The early Mingyuan Road passed through the land area of ??East Tsim Sha Tsui Smart Garden (built around 1999). There used to be a small pond at the south location of the current roundabout, but of course it was later filled in. There is a market next to it. There are some low-rise bungalows and some small shops around Luxiang, and the backs of the houses are almost all vegetable fields. ?

From Luxiang to Guanshankou, next to the Chinese Workers' Hospital and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. There are still houses in a row from Guanshan Pass to Guanshan, but east of Guanshan Pass it has a completely rural feel.

Although Luxiang is more important than Guanshan in terms of transportation, there were almost no decent businesses in Luxiang in the early days, and everyone was just a passerby. At that time, Guanshan was much more developed than Luxiang. Guanshan Road (now Guanggu Pedestrian Street) connecting Luxiang and Guanshan was a dilapidated path in the early years, with smelly ponds on the roadside. But the section of road near Guanshan became very lively, turning into a "bustling" commercial street, and there was also a cinema. When I was a child, in addition to watching movies in the school courtyard, I also went to Guanshan Cinema to watch movies until the early 1990s. , this cinema gradually faded out of sight.

Minyuan Road was built to cooperate with the reconstruction of South-Central University for Nationalities. It was originally only two lanes. In addition to rural areas, there was also a large lake on the roadside (the former Nanhu Lake was very large). After the 1990s, it gradually Fill it up and turn it into contemporary student apartments or something like that. The current width of Mingyuan Road is probably more than three times its earlier width.

After Lumo passes the Institute of Geology, it is basically farmland. There is a bus that runs all the way to the Botanical Garden, and you can walk to the back door of Moshan. At that time, the entrance fee to Moshan was only 20 cents or 50 cents, but even so, we children did not want to buy tickets. Instead, we climbed in through the unattended back mountain wall. I especially miss Moshan in the 1980s, it was truly a paradise. I still remember that one year I was about to leave Wuhan, and on my last day I went to Moshan, sitting on the Zhubei Pavilion, watching the heavy rain coming and the storm surging in the East Lake, and I was filled with emotion.

The renovation of Luoyu Road began at the end of 1986. I remember this time very clearly, because at the end of 1986, a large-scale student unrest occurred. Students from China Normal University and Wuhan Examination came out of the school in groups and walked to the Dadongmen area. At that time, the road between Jiejiekou and Guangbutun began to be widened, and the tall street trees on the roadside were cut down one after another. The two scenes of "parading" and "tree-cutting" happened at the gate of China Normal University at the same time, which deeply impressed me. into memory. The widening of Luoyu Road was carried out in sections. After the trees in Guangbutun were cut down, it was followed by Zhuodaoquan and Majiazhuang. The project lasted for several years and roughly formed the current width. A few years later, another black transformation was carried out. The road condition is pretty good now, but there are no tall and lush sycamore trees beside the road anymore.

Before 1986, the status of Hongshan District was lower than that of Wuchang District (Hongshan District was equivalent to a suburb, not an urban area). After 1986, Hongshan District was upgraded and acquired a lot of land originally belonging to Wuchang District. piece. The emerging Hongshan District was inspired by Beijing's Zhongguancun and launched the construction of a science and technology street around 1988. Twenty years later, we only see a street selling computers (it is said to be as famous as Zhongguancun in this regard), and technology and entrepreneurship are out of the question.

Let’s talk about the public transportation in the 1980s.

At that time, Wuhan’s bus capacity was insufficient and extremely crowded. Buses were often crowded at the departure station, and it was difficult to get on at subsequent stations. Therefore, there was a phenomenon of non-stop, crossing the platform and then stopping. Very common. Take the picture I drew above as an example. If the No. 15 bus is crowded at Guanshan Pass, it will often not stop at the bus stop when it reaches Luxiang. Instead, it will continue driving for a hundred or two hundred meters and then stop briefly to disembark (in The current location of the gas station).

Many young people know how to drive quickly (they grab the door of the bus before it stops), and some smart people don't wait at the bus stop at all, but go directly to the bus station two hundred meters behind to try their luck. For a primary school student like me, it’s a nightmare to squeeze into a bus with hundreds of adults.

Route 15 is an articulated bus, which is said to be quite long, but it still cannot cope with the peak passenger flow. So Wuhan City opened a "peak bus" with the prefix "1". Among them, the 108 bus takes Luoyu Road. From Guanshankou to Wuchang Railway Station, it only runs during the morning and evening rush hours, and only stops at major stations (Luxiang, Guangzhou). Butun, Fujiapo, and sometimes street entrances), and does not stop at small stations (Wujiawan, Majiazhuang, Zhuodaoquan, Hongshan). Route 108 was my favorite when I went to Dadongmen to study. As long as I can squeeze on Route 108, I can get to Dadongmen in less than 20 minutes, and there is no crowd of passengers getting on and off at the stop. As long as I stand firm, I can get there from the beginning to the end. There is no need to move, most of the passengers around are going to Dadongmen or the train station. Not many people got off at Fujiapo in the early days because Zhongnan Road was not yet developed at that time. After the opening of Zhongnan Shopping Mall in 1986, Zhongnan Road became popular.

When I go home, I usually tend to take bus 108 to Wuchang Railway Station because Dadongmen Station is often crowded. But at the starting point, there was also a huge crowd. Hundreds of people rushed to get a 108. The 108 is not an articulated car and has limited capacity. As a junior high school student at that time, I developed the ability to fly in actual combat, and I succeeded every time. There was a period when I successfully grabbed a seat 100 times in a row. Haha, there was no concept of civilized riding at that time. , Civilized people can’t even get on the bus, let alone fighting for seats.

In addition to No. 15 and No. 108, there is also No. 25 bound for Gedian that passes through Luoyu Road. In my mind, Gedian is like another city, and this bus is equivalent to a long-distance bus. At the end of 1988, a new shuttle bus No. 77, equivalent to No. 15, was opened. The starting point was Luxiang. From then on, I no longer worried about not being able to get on the bus, and I was guaranteed to have a seat. A year or two later, special buses prefixed with "5" were opened in large numbers, and the most difficult era of Wuhan's public transportation was finally over. In the 1990s, the "Legend of 521" began to spread on Luoyu Road, and the No. 15 articulated car faded out of the stage of history. Actually, I miss Route 108 even more. The craziest Route 108 I have ever experienced used to drive from Dadongmen to Luxiang in just over 10 minutes. It was even better than the later 521: 521 always had to make several stops, while Back then, if there was no one to get off the 108 in Guangbutun and Zhuodaoquan, it would be a direct stop to Luxiang.
