Laodaohe and Laodaohe Town in Changsha in Memory

Laodaohe is a tributary of Xiangjiang River in Changsha, and Laodaohe Town is an ancient town in the northern suburb of Changsha.

The second largest inland river in Changsha

Laodao River, also known as "Laotang River" and "Liaohu River", is a first-class tributary of Xiangjiang River and is known as the second largest inland river in Changsha.

According to the records, Laodao River originated in Zhou Luo Village, Shegang Town, at the northern foot of Shizhu Peak, Liuyang City, and flowed through Shegang Town, Longfu Township, Shashi Town, Beisheng Town and Yong 'an Town of Liuyang City, then entered Chunhua Town and Huanghua Town of Changsha County, and then went out of Changsha County to the west, crossing the river from now Xianglong Street into Luohanzhuang in Kaifu District. Since then, Shaping, Baixia, Yuanfengba and Jinzhu River have joined together, forming a large dike with Chujiahu-Su Huan, and then joining Xiangjiang River in Beiyang Oil Pool of Changsha City via Laodaohe Town. It has a total length of 141 kilometers and a drainage area of 2,543 square kilometers.

It is said that Guan Gong led his troops to attack Changsha. When passing by the Laodao River, Qinglong Crescent Moon Blade accidentally fell into the river and was fished out by Zhou Cang. From then on, the place where Guan Gong dropped his knife was called the mouth of the knife (the mouth of the knife was the mouth of the Liuyang River into the Xiangjiang River), and the river where he fished the knife was called the fishing knife river.

The downstream of the Laodao River flows into the Xiangjiang River for 2km, and the Xiangjiang River, Liuyang River and Laodao River form a huge "jacking" at the intersection during the flood season. At the same time, the Laodao River flows into the river against the current, which leads to the backward flow of Xiangjiang River in flood season. The lower reaches of Liuyang River and Laodao River in Kaifu District are often swallowed up by floods and suffered disasters year after year.

since 1994, the provincial and Changsha municipal governments have started to organize experts to plan to divert the Laodao River. In mid-November, 24, the Xinlaodao River was opened to traffic, and the exit position of Laodaohe River moved 2 kilometers north after diversion. After the diversion of the Laodao River, the flood flows into the Xiangjiang River in advance, which avoids the "jacking" and shortens the flood control embankment lines of Wuhehean and Laohuhuan, which not only reduces the flood control pressure of the local government, but also protects the local residents from flooding.

Quiet and serene ancient town

Laodaohe Town is located in the north of Changsha, and its northwest is close to Xingang Town, Dingzi Town and Qiaoyi Town in Wangcheng County. Bordering Beishan Township, Changsha County in the southeast; The south is adjacent to Furong District; East of the Xiangjiang River; West of feldspar railway trunk line; Changyong Expressway in the south; North to Changsha Second Ring Road and Third Ring Road. There are major rivers, Laodao River and Liuyang River, which run through the whole territory. Sutuohuan (Sujiatuo) is the largest plain lake area under its jurisdiction, and it is also a flood-prone area. There is the only minority concentrated area in Changsha-Hanhui Village.

On September 1st, 213, the original Laodaohe Town was cancelled, and Laodaohe Street and Shaping Street were established.

before the 198s, in addition to taking the waterway from Xiangjiang River to Laodaohe Town, the only way from Changsha City to Laodaohe Town was to take Hongshan Temple, cross Liaojiadu Bridge and pass Pengjiaxiang to Laodaohe Town. At that time, Changsha drove two long-distance buses to Laodaohe Town from the East Bus Station opposite Tianxin Pavilion every day. In addition to these two trains, you can only get off by a long-distance bus passing through Pengjiaxiang and walk a few miles to reach Laodaohe Town.

Of course, if you take the train, you can also go to Laodaohe Town. The first stop outside the north of Changsha is Laodaohe Station.

The first time I took a train, I got on the train at Laodaohe Station and sat at the old station of Wuyi Road in Changsha. It was the autumn of 196, and I was in the sixth grade at Tiefo East Street. My superiors had to support agriculture and organize our senior students to send fertilizer to the countryside. We male students are in pairs, carrying the fertilizer packed with bamboo baskets, while the female students are carrying a basket fertilizer, taking Wangjiaxiang and Maojiaqiao, crossing the Xinhe River and Fengzui, passing through the Xiangjiang River levee in the delta, crossing the Liuyang River from the knife mouth, and passing through the Machang foreign oil pool, and then reaching the destination. Although we were very tired all the way, we walked while playing, and the scenery was fresh all the way.

The member's uncle treated us to lunch, and we played in the surrounding fields, hills and ponds for a while before going back. The teacher said with a smile, I won't walk home. Let's go to Laodaohe Station and take the train back to Changsha. The students were so excited that they rushed to the Laodaohe station a few miles away and got on the train that they could only sit in their dreams for the first time.

At that time, train tickets were cheap, and there was only one stop from Laodaohe to Changsha, and the fare was only a dime. Although we have dozens of students, the school can afford these few dollars.

Later, I went to Laodao River once by bike. That's when a colleague of mine got married. His hometown is Laodaohe. Anyway, I was young at that time, so I invited several close colleagues to take a bicycle from Wujialing across Sifangping to Hongshan Temple, across 163 Hospital and Liaojiadu Bridge, and then to his home in Laodaohe Town via Pengjiaxiang. They are all young people, and it is not difficult to get there after talking and laughing for more than twenty miles. After the wedding banquet, a group of us went to Laodaohe town to play.

before 198s, Laodaohe Town was quiet and peaceful. The town is near the clear Laodao River, not far from the mouth of Xiangjiang River. The population of the town is small, and the old blue brick houses and polished mashi small streets all give people a sense of vicissitudes. There are few shops in the town. After the public-private partnership, only some shops under the name of the supply and marketing cooperative are left, such as comprehensive retail stores, agricultural stores, hospitals, restaurants, butcher shops, purchasing stations, post offices and tailor shops.

The general retail store is the most visited by customers in the town. Everyone calls this store the supply and marketing cooperative. There are southern food, daily groceries, stationery, cloth, department stores and other goods in the store. As long as the peasant women enter the store, they will be lively.

the river flowing through the town is not wide, and the river is crystal clear. There is a boat ferry. There are not many pedestrians on the street, but people from the town and surrounding farmers go shopping in the town. We foreigners are particularly conspicuous when walking in the street. Many children follow us and curiously look at the clothes different from those of the town, especially the beautiful flowered skirts of two young girls, which attract many eyes.

Laodaohe Knife and Shear Factory

It was several years later that it visited Laodaohe Town for the third time. At that time, the reform and opening up was in full swing, and our state-owned stores were hit hard. As a manager, I could only change the habit of waiting for customers to come to my house and start to go out and sell. I remember I went to Tongguan to set up a store to expand sales; I have been to Pingtang Town to investigate the situation and prepare to find Pingtang Chemical Plant and other units to promote business; I also went to Laodaohe to find a knife and scissors factory and other units to develop business. At that time, Laodaohe knife and scissors factory was one of the most famous factories in Changsha and even Hunan.

As early as the Ming Dynasty, the scissors in Laodaohe Town were famous for their smooth opening and closing, sharp cloth cutting, beautiful appearance and durability, and they have been selling well in the world since the end of the Ming Dynasty.

Laodaohe Knife and Scissors Factory, located by the scenic Laodaohe River, is one of the three major knife and scissors manufacturers in China (the other two are Wangmazi Scissors and Kangzhou Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors). The knife and scissors forging industry has flourished here for more than 5 years. Laodaohe Knife & Shear Factory integrates the essence of knife & shear forging, and its products are unique in shape, extraordinary in skill, exquisite in workmanship and perfect in perfection. The products have won many provincial and departmental awards and are sold well at home and abroad.

I remember that Laodaohe Old Street is by the river, and the knife and scissors factory and other units are outside the old street. My colleague Zhao Heping's sister and brother-in-law are all workers in the knife and scissors factory. After their introduction, I found Master Shao, the buyer of the canteen of the knife and scissors factory. You will know that you are my old acquaintance when you meet him. I have dealt with him in Xinhe sauce garden. Lao Shao is a loyal man. He is an old customer of Xinhe Sauce Garden. He doesn't want to change to our Beizheng Street Sauce Garden, so he has to leave. He was embarrassed to accompany us to visit the workshop of the knife and scissors factory. This is the first time that I know the production process of the famous knife and scissors in Laodaohe.

Laodaohe Knife and Scissors Factory has set up a shop near Wuyi Square in Huangxing South Road, the most lively place in Changsha, which specializes in selling knives and scissors produced by our factory.

Now we go to the old street of Laodaohe Town. Apart from some civilian daily necessities shops, there are mostly large and small knife and scissors shops here. On the street of a small town hundreds of meters long, there are nearly 2 stores specializing in selling knives and scissors in Laodaohe, which is also a great sight.

I chatted with the owners of several knife and scissors shops and asked them what they were doing with so many knife and scissors shops and whether there would be business. They said with a smile: No one will patronize this town, but when foreign tourists come, they will know that the business card of Laodaohe is a knife and scissors. As a result, many people will bring a pair of scissors or kitchen knives back, and of course there are many other varieties, such as food carving knives, flower and tree scissors and other special knives and scissors. That's why there are so many stores.

But now the Laodaohe knife and scissors factory has moved to the Hexi municipal government, and the original knife and scissors factory in Laodaohe town has been deserted, leaving only an open space to be developed.

Changsha Coal-to-Gas Plant

In the 198s and 199s, there was another plant in Laodaohe, which was particularly famous, and that was Changsha Coal-to-Gas Plant, also known as the Coal-to-Gas Engineering Command. Everyone in this town called it a gas plant.

At that time, many people in Changsha used canned liquefied gas. To this end, Changsha has set up canned liquefied gas stations in many places in the city to change cylinders for residents. In the early 198 s, the unit engaged in welfare and gave my family a liquefied gas index, so the task of taking a breath every time was mine. My family lives in Xinghanmen, North District, and the gas station is located in Education Street. Every time a bottle of gas runs out, I have to go to Education Street to change it. Empty cans weigh 15 kilograms, and gas weighs 15 kilograms. Each bottle of 15 yuan is cheap gas, which should be targeted.

at first, many residents didn't want to use liquefied gas, saying that they were afraid of explosion. But after using it for a long time, it feels particularly convenient. It is much more convenient than burning coal, and it is clean, so everyone likes to use it. Because liquefied gas is in short supply, a coal-fired gas plant was set up in Laodaohe to supply pipeline gas. Due to pipeline restrictions, gas can only be supplied to residents and units along Furong Road in the North District.

Pipeline gas is also a new thing. Connecting a pipe to your home is like using tap water. You can use gas by unscrewing the tap, which is more convenient than using canned gas. So everyone opened the back door and wanted to take the gas home.

at that time, the gas supply scope of the gas plant: the planned gas supply area in the first phase was south of Bayi Road, north of Renmin Road, east of Furong Road and west of Station Road. The first phase can supply 41,6 residential users and a few public welfare users, business users and industrial users with gas.

in the 199s, natural gas was introduced to Changsha, and it was no longer restricted by the difficulty of gas pipeline transportation. It can be used in all areas except the two sides of Furong Road. So, our family also abandoned the liquefied gas tank and switched to natural gas. Later, when I visited Laodaohe Town, I went to the gas plant and realized that the coal-to-gas plant still existed, but I didn't know if it was still in production.

Modern new urban area

After many years, Laodaohe Town is not the rural area in our concept, but the urban area in the north of the city. The wide Furong North Road and Xiangjiang North Road extend from the old city of Changsha to the Laodaohe New District, and several reinforced concrete bridges connect the Laodaohe with the urban area of Changsha. From Wujialing to Changsha Old Town, Furong North Road goes north along the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, and passes by Laodaohe Town.

when I come back, I can't find the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the old town, and I can't find a simple and kind fellow villager. There are only new farmers with high spirits and new houses with foreign flavor. The bus goes directly to the old town.

Laodaohe Town is rich in tourism resources, including Tielu Temple and Mosque, Shaping Xiangxiu Street, which is known as the hometown of Xiangxiu, and nearly 3, mu of city garden ecological park. Among the green mountains and green waters, Luohanzhuang, Yeyundu, and other places of interest and cultural landscapes are dotted around, which is a tourist attraction that citizens yearn for.

In recent years, the agricultural sightseeing, leisure and tourism industries have developed rapidly. Up to now, there are 21 agricultural enterprises for sightseeing and leisure in the whole town, which has become a famous agricultural sightseeing, leisure and tourism industry in Changsha, attracting many citizens to travel in urban and rural areas. Among them, Haitian Villa, Daming Villa, Hedaoyuan, etc. are famous, as well as many farmhouse and farmhouse restaurants. This industry has also become a major part of farmers' income.

The most interesting thing is that the Laodao River used to be a rural suburb in Changsha's mind, but now it has become a new urban area. I actually moved to Wuheyuan, a newly developed new community-Xiangjiang Century City. Standing on the balcony on the 12th floor where our family lives every day, we can see the clear water from Laodao River flowing into Xiangjiang River. The small and exquisite estuary island with lush trees is like an emerald floating in the river. Sanchaji Bridge just crosses Xiangjiang River from the island.

A big square was built at the mouth of the Laodao River, which people call Guandi Square. A golden statue of Guan Gong stands in the middle of the square. Every day, in addition to the residents living in Xiangjiang Century City, they come here to relax and dance in the square dance, and some tourists come here to see the mouth of Laodao River and Guandi Square. Especially in the evening, it's full of people and excitement. Many peddlers who do business also get wind of it. One night's business may be more than the money he earns in a day.

Although Laodaohe ancient town has lost its former silence and peace, it has gained a lot of new atmosphere. The times are constantly advancing, and the Laodaohe and Laodaohe ancient towns are also advancing with the times. A brand-new old town, which retains a bit of ancient flavor, is displayed in front of us. It is so beautiful and radiant.
