Tell me what you know about peacekeeping forces

The United Nations Peacekeeping Force is a cross-border special force established in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. It was established in 1956 on the occasion of the Suez Crisis. United Nations peacekeeping began in June 1948, when the Security Council authorized the deployment of United Nations military observers in the Middle East. It is appointed by the United Nations General Assembly or Security Council and is active in areas of international conflict. The mission is tasked with monitoring the Armistice Agreement between Israel and its Arab neighbors, an operation known as the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization.

Since then, the United Nations has deployed 69 peacekeeping operations, 56 of which have been carried out since 1988. In recent years, hundreds of thousands of military personnel and tens of thousands of United Nations police officers and civilian personnel from more than 120 countries have participated in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Soldiers of the peacekeeping force wear sky-blue steel helmets or blue berets with the English abbreviation UN of the United Nations on their heads, and their armbands are embellished with earth and olive branch patterns. All personnel who join the United Nations peacekeeping forces must be sent to training centers located in the four Nordic countries to receive special training in order to familiarize themselves with the functions, purposes, and tasks of the peacekeeping forces and conduct special military training.
