The avatar will only hinder your liberation.

Nowadays, people learn Buddhism for impure purposes, for blessings and for magical powers. Masters who are good at virtue, meditation and preaching don't catch a cold, but once they hear that any master has magical powers, they flock to worship. These people are very yearning for the avatar and always try their best to pursue it. I don't know that this is not only bad for myself, but also leads me astray.

Many people don't think so. "With the help of magical power, we can have a better insight into the hearts of all beings and benefit them more conveniently." In fact, this is just a beautiful imagination. Once you have the avatar, it's hard to practice. Magical power will only hinder your liberation.

First of all, let's talk about what an avatar is. Avatar is an unpredictable, smooth, ever-changing and incredible realm. The so-called "magical use is unpredictable, and freedom is unimpeded." Hinayana people can prove their magical powers by practicing the four truths and twelve karma methods and reaching a perfect state. Mahayana people practice six degrees and ten thousand lines, participate in meditation, practice meditation, practice bodhisattva, and practice to a perfect state, then they can prove their magical power. Avatar is a field that is difficult to prove. Theoretically, only buddhas, bodhisattvas and arhats have magical powers.

In real life, we do meet some people with some magical abilities. Have they all proved it? Actually, it is not. According to Seng Zhao's treasure theory, besides supernatural powers, there are Daotong, Yitong, Bao Tong and Tanya. Daotong is the synergy obtained through monasticism in this life. In meditation, the instinctive wisdom of one's life will be aroused and some abilities will be gained, which varies according to the depth of concentration. Yitong relies on certain methods to gain the ability of the prophet, such as numerology and divination. News communication is the result of past lives. Some people are born with some abilities, and such people often practice well in their previous lives. Yaotong and Guitong are both so-called schizophrenic states, which have obvious functions due to their own unhealthy and insufficient yang.

What does Buddhism think of the avatar? There is a story in The Analects of Confucius:

There is a Lohan and a little novice monk practicing together in the mountains. Shami goes out for alms every day, and often falls down on the way back, which makes the rice dirty. When he came back, the master asked him why. He said it was sunny when he went out, it would rain when he came back, and he would wrestle after crossing the dam. When the master observed, he found the Dragon King at work, so he went to question the Dragon King. The Dragon King said Misha was cute, so he liked to play with him. The Dragon King learned that Shami was begging for Master and said that he would provide food for Master's Dragon Palace in the future. From then on, the master refused to let the little novice monk bring food back, and let him eat it himself and then come back.

Once the little novice monk smelled the food in Master's bowl, unlike human food, and asked where the food came from. As a result, master was silent. Little novice monk is curious. He wanted to know where Master's food came from, so when Master meditated, he quietly hid under the meditation bed. Master flew to the Dragon Palace with his divine power and Zen bed. When I arrived at the Dragon Palace and found my apprentice coming with me, I told him not to be insatiable and attached to the beauty of the Dragon Palace. Although the dragon has palaces, seven treasures, women and colorful women, it is still an animal. Although you are an uneducated novice monk, you will definitely be reincarnated in the interest paradise in the future, and you will be a hundred times better than it. Never defile your mind!

He also said that dragons have three pains. One is that this kind of rice will turn into a toad in your mouth, and it will be disgusting if you spit it out, and then you don't want to eat it again. Second, the colorful girls in the Dragon Palace are beautiful. If you want to marry her, it will become two snakes mating. Third, there are lodging scales on the dragon's back, and sand grows in the scales, and the pain is lingering. Never be jealous of dragons. Little novice monk doesn't listen to master. He missed the life of the dragon day and night, didn't think about eating and drinking, and eventually died of illness. He was reincarnated as a dragon fetus and became a dragon son. When there is no concentration, if you see a beautiful illusion that cannot be seen through, you will be bound by this illusion, and ultimately you will suffer.

People wear masks to disguise themselves in the world, even in the face of the closest people, there are secrets that can't be told. Through meditation, we can really gain some enlightenment and feel something, but if we don't have enough concentration, having these superpowers will make us more troubled. If you have vision, you will see others do things that are sorry for you; With the help of heaven and earth, I heard others scold me behind my back; From his understanding, I know that the people I trust most and the people closest to me are not 100% sincere to me; With destiny, I observed that my relatives and good friends were reincarnated as my enemies in my previous life. How can we face the people around us calmly and live a leisurely life?

Once connected with God, it is hard to get rid of it. Because before you prove Wukong's sex, you will definitely be obsessed with these things. You cling to the immediate interests and refuse to let go. So, with these magical powers, are you still willing to let go? These magical powers are fame and fortune. You will definitely use these magical powers to engage in secularism and create karma. The accumulation of karma will not only get farther and farther away from liberation, but also accelerate one's fall.

Therefore, learning Buddhism must not go astray, but learn the wisdom of Buddhism instead of being obsessed with magical powers. There is a case-solving in Zen Buddhism, which says that two wizards seek dharma separately and agree to meet again ten years later to see what they have learned. Ten years later, they met by the river. A said that I worshipped a monk who studied Confucian classics during the day and meditated at night. I think I have benefited a lot in the past ten years. B said contemptuously, you have learned all this. Listen, I'll show you what I've learned. Then I crossed the river on the water. A spent a penny for the boatman to ferry him to the other side, sighed and said to B, it took you ten years of neglect to learn this penny.

In fact, we have magical power everywhere in our daily life. Sit at home and turn on the computer to understand global trends; You can hear the sound on the other side of the ocean with a phone call; By plane, you can reach thousands of kilometers in a few hours. Isn't this an eye, an ear and a foot?

Avatar is a transcendental presentation of the continuous development of potential in the process of practice, and it will naturally be brought into full play after a successful practice. To seek supernatural power before proving Wukong's nature is to seek tangible things, and this "being" is limited, quantitative and leaky. Only the realm of empty evidence can produce the wonderful use of wisdom. Therefore, the magical power does not need to seek outside, and it can be experienced everywhere in daily life, depending on whether you have heart or wisdom. Having magical powers does not necessarily mean having happiness, but it will hinder a person's practice and liberation. Only compassion and wisdom are inexhaustible treasures.
