Thousands of hands show the power to save all beings; A clairvoyant eye shows the light of wisdom everywhere. This is a sign of great compassion and wisdom; In order to guide all sentient beings to the path of enlightenment, the convenience of Guanyin Bodhisattva can be said to be meticulous. This is best described in Hokkekyo Pumenpin. For example, it should be said that Guanyin Bodhisattva is now a Buddha's body, or even that people with physical abilities, such as Haga, Asura, Man and Non-Man, are now. In the real world, people who should be healthy are laymen, farmers, industry and commerce, military and political officials, etc. It is said that it is the same. The convenience of adapting to the class is taken by the colleagues of Bodhisattva, not unique to avalokitesvara. For example, Maitreya Buddha said, "Maitreya Buddha is really Maitreya Buddha, and hundreds of billions of members of the two places always show it to people when they are young, but they don't know it when they are young." In addition to thousands of hands and eyes, there are eighteen-armed Guanyin and four-armed Guanyin. The most common is the holy Guanyin, which shows the solemn phase of the unity of man and nature. There has always been this kind of thirty-three guanyin, just a random display!
Most people can't help wondering whether the body image of Guanyin Bodhisattva is male or female. In fact, with the emergence of class, there can of course be men and women. However, according to the Buddha, they are all brave people. Guanyin was always a gentleman before the Tang Dynasty. Hua Yan Jing also said: "A brave man is at home. However, the special virtue of Guanyin Bodhisattva is great compassion. In this sense, on the one hand, his adaptation is out of inner compassion; On the one hand, there are more kinds of sentient beings and sufferings, and there are more bodhisattvas. The adaptation of avalokitesvara in human beings is more female, which has two meanings: First, since ancient times, women have always suffered more than men. Secondly, the inherent characteristics of women are kindness and gentleness; Shown in their daily behavior is love. Women's psychology and love really surpass men. For example, a mother's love for her children is profound, passionate and meticulous; Father's love for his children is not so deep and so warm. Love, that is, compassion expressed in the shadow of self, is the limitation of compassion and an inevitable distortion. Compassion is the expansion of love without self.
Because women have the characteristics of mothers, they regard compassion as Ted's avalokitesvara, that is, they should be women. Expand into selfless love, love for all mankind and all sentient beings, just as a loving mother loves her children. Therefore, Guanyin Bodhisattva should be a female body, not only because women have suffered a lot, but also to carry forward the maternal love of the world, make it broad and selfless, and become the equal compassion of Bodhisattva. Therefore, we believe in Guanyin, just like children worship their mothers. Being able to admire so sincerely, such as the empathy of mother and son, can be saved by Guanyin Bodhisattva.
Avalokitesvara, the goddess of mercy, is also known in Hinduism today. She is a woman. Therefore, since the Tang and Song Dynasties, Guanyin has been shaped into a female image, which is meaningful. In the rough sea life with short life, it is the most dangerous, the most uncertain security and the most in need of compassionate assistance. So Guanyin has the deepest belief in the seaside. Such as Guanyin Dojo in India, in the South China Sea; Among overseas Chinese in China, such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Taiwan Province and Singapore, Avalokitesvara is the only comforter.
It is worth noting that Tianhou Palace and Mazu Tempel in Taiwan Province Province (Fujian, Guangdong and other coastal provinces) are both related to the people's beliefs in coastal areas, and they are all women; From the perspective of human religious theory, asking for mercy and salvation will unconsciously appear as a woman. Western monotheism originally opposed the establishment of images; Catholicism has the image of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary is called the Virgin Mary, and there are also various kinds of merciful worship and expressions of infinite mercy in the legend. As the Bodhisattva said, before Maria was born, the virtue of Guanyin was known to Mahayana Buddhism. All these can be regarded as an adaptation of Guanyin, especially for all the divas (Mazu) in Taiwan Province Province today. We should use the spirit of Guanyin to enrich and purify her-it should be said that those who have reached the level of Tianhou and Mazu are now Tianhou and Mazu.
However, what is particularly important here is:
1. Most people worship Guanyin Bodhisattva for utilitarian transactions, such as making a wish to the Bodhisattva. If the bodhisattva helps me, then I will make a wish, such as "rebuilding the temple and shaping the golden body" and so on. This kind of bribed prayer has no real faith and is not Buddhism! Believe in avalokitesvara and pray to her, with absolute trust and sincerity, just as a child believes in and prays to his mother. As long as it is beneficial to the child, the mother will definitely give it; If what we pray for is either unreasonable or useless to us, will the Bodhisattva also help you?
Second, mothers care for their children, but the bright future of children is not given by their mothers, nor is everything dependent on their mothers, but the results of their own forge ahead and hard work. Therefore, if you believe in Guanyin Bodhisattva, you must not shirk your responsibility in real life, but live a life of relying on Bodhisattva for everything. We don't make progress, stay away from evil, do good, don't know how to return to the three treasures, practice Buddhism, and turn things upside down. Bodhisattva is merciful, but she can't save you because of her own sin.
Therefore, we should admire the spirit of mercy and salvation of Guanyin Bodhisattva, pursue Buddhism and practice it seriously, and of course we will be saved by the Bodhisattva. On the journey of life, if you can't find a job or get what you deserve, you can get the incredible feeling of Guanyin with piety!
Every great bodhisattva represents different virtues, and compassion is the virtue of Guanyin Bodhisattva. If we don't kill, we can give love to all sentient beings, then our hearts and actions will correspond to Guanyin's compassion. Corresponding to empathy, this is the truth of "the same kind of contract." Therefore, our inner beliefs should be manifested in our external actions, and our actual actions should be commensurate with the compassion of Guanyin Bodhisattva. This is the real commemoration we should have for Guanyin Bodhisattva today!
