Travel Notes—to feel the seriousness of Japanese people

"Seriousness" is one of the good qualities of human beings. Speaking of the word "seriousness", we have to talk about Mr. Lu Xun, a literary master during the Republic of China. He studied in Japan for many years and taught China Comparing the national character of people with that of the Japanese, he believed that the Japanese have good national character of "simple" and "serious". However, he made the following judgments and criticisms of the Chinese: "hypocrisy", "hypocrisy", "seriousness" "Careless" and "not serious" are the national characteristics of the Chinese...

How "serious" are the Japanese? ! After the trip, the author came to the conclusion that they were "serious about everything" and that "this seriousness" was deeply embedded in their bones. Let’s take a few examples to illustrate “Japan’s seriousness”.

When the plane lands at Osaka Kansai International Airport, the required procedure before exiting customs is to enter your fingerprints. Only after your fingerprints have been entered can you exit customs. This is so that once any problem occurs, such as: staying in Japan and not returning to the original country in the name of tourism; or an accident occurs during travel, etc., so that we can find it in time. Others can basically pass the test after two or three operations. It may be that the sensitivity of the machine recognition is not enough, or the operation method is wrong. It took the author at least eight or nine times to pass the test, and I still passed the test with the help of female staff. Time and time again, she did not complain at all. She always helped the author conscientiously, demonstrated the movements conscientiously, and kindly explained how to operate.

Japanese toilets can be said to be veritable window-lit toilets, which can reflect people's shadows. No matter how long you stay in them, you will not smell any odor or odor. The urinals are sensor-controlled. The sensor light will automatically light up when a person stands in front of it. Once the person leaves, it will automatically flush. Its faucet is also sensor-type. As long as it is sensed, water will automatically flow out. It is also equipped with an automatic dryer. The machine allows the washed hands to quickly turn from wet to dry, and no trace of water can be seen on the ground. Whether it is at the urinal or the toilet, it is the same. It can be said to be spotless. The reason why it is so clean is inseparable from the hard work of the cleaning staff. The author thought that it was very clean and there was no need to clean any more. However, I saw that the cleaning staff in charge of the restroom did not think so. They or they had no free time and would keep an eye on it all the time. There are no tourists to relieve themselves, so they will clean it all the time to keep the restroom clean. It can also be said that there is no cleanest, only cleaner, and cleanliness is taken to the extreme!

During this five-day and four-night trip to Japan, we changed accommodations every day. The Japanese driver who was responsible for driving us throughout the entire trip was already an old man with a height of only 1.6 meters. He would either pick up the luggage one by one and then bend down to stuff the luggage into the suitcase under the minibus. Or he would get off the bus first and then bend down to take the luggage one by one from the suitcase. We took it out and saw that he was serious and struggling. We wanted to help him. The tour guide not only stopped our action, but also told us that if we helped him, it would hurt the old man's self-esteem and make him feel that his work was not done. If it's not good enough and you are dissatisfied, you will do it yourself. The tour guide also said that Japanese people cannot retire until they are 60 years old. In Japanese culture, older people after retirement attach great importance to their sense of identity and do not want to be shown by society or anyone in any form that they are worthless. A useless waste, and I don’t want to be said that I am old. I can still do something after retirement to prove that I am not old yet and still useful...

Every time I have breakfast in the hotel, the service The staff will welcome us. They or they will always serve us seriously, politely and patiently. They will see us off after eating. The same is true when dining out. When we want to get in the car and leave, the hotel Many service staff inside would come out and stand in a row to see us off, waving and thanking us non-stop, and they did so tirelessly and non-stop until our vehicles were no longer visible.

The last stop of our trip to Japan was Tokyo, the capital. We visited the "Akihabara" neighborhood. Its Japanese name is "あきはばら", its English name is "Akihabara", and its common name is "AKIBA" ", located in the southwest of Taito District, Tokyo, under the Shitani area, bounded by Showa Street to the east, Kuramae Bridge Street to the north, Sokanda 4-chome, Chiyoda Ward, to the west, and Kanda Renki Town and Kanda Matsunaga Town, Chiyoda Ward, to the south. The street is dedicated to selling all kinds of cutting-edge digital appliances.

On this street, the author and my friend Wen Xiaoming saw a decoration worker in a small shop selling various products. He was laying floor tiles with concentration. We watched for about ten minutes. There were many customers coming in and out of the store. He always laid the floor tiles without any distractions, and he worked conscientiously and meticulously. After laying the floor tiles, he wiped the tools one by one and put them away. In the tool box, finally clean up the floor. The feeling he gives people is that I have to do this job well myself, rather than others forcing me to do this job. This may be the craftsmanship spirit that everyone advocates.

Why do we spend so much time explaining "Japanese seriousness" from different angles? ! There are mainly three reasons that prompted the author to write like this!

One is: Contemporary Chinese people will always make such weird remarks in the name of patriotism. Whenever they come back from a trip to Japan, they will always be ridiculed by everyone if they say anything about Japanese people and things. During the whole process, there was a lot of contempt, disgrace and disdain. They would always say, "You are a fake foreign devil." Since you think everything is good in Japan and abroad, why are you coming back? Why are you Chinese? Have you forgotten? Have you ever wondered how we were bullied by the Japanese in the past? !

It is one thing to think that the Japanese and other countries have invaded and bullied the Chinese, but it is another thing to say that the Japanese and other countries have good things that are worth mentioning. Something happened. Whether in Japan or in other countries, any good place is worthy of you and me studying hard. Only in this way can we know the gaps and distances that exist. Through learning, we can not only broaden our horizons and gain experience, but also allow you and me to catch up and shorten the gap and distance. Isn't it also in Confucius's "The Analects of Confucius": "Three people must have my teacher, choose the good ones and follow them, and change the bad ones!" Otherwise, you and I can only be a frog in the well, let alone make progress!

The second is: Maybe many Chinese people do not take the word "serious" seriously, and think that "all those who are particularly serious are inevitably a little too single-minded." "Too silly", and it also seems that he is too hypocritical, but this is not how the author understands and believes. I think that "seriousness" is a good quality, and all "serious people" and all kinds of good qualities are worthy of you and me. If you study hard and seriously, you and I can make further progress!

The third is: I also believe that the word "seriousness" is the "foundation of settling down and establishing a life" for individuals and the entire country. "Attitude can determine everything", whether it is an individual or a country. No matter what attitude you have, you can influence the development direction of any situation and determine everything, including the fate of individuals, enterprises, society and the country...

There are many in China. Regarding serious matters, let me give you an example. For example: more than ten years ago, under the order of Haier Group Chairman Zhang Ruimin, all Haier defective refrigerators were smashed to pieces. It was Zhang Ruimin’s serious attitude that led to the birth of an international refrigerator in China. A big brand, a few years later it became a Fortune 500 company.

Having said this, I should also talk about myself. Although I can do one thing with concentration and seriousness, I sometimes make careless mistakes, and I really should correct it!
