The legend of persimmon

Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, had a poor family when he was a child and often begged for food. One year during the Frost Festival, Zhu Yuanzhang, who was so hungry that his eyes were black and his limbs were weak, walked to a small village and found a persimmon tree growing beside the village, which was full of red persimmons.

Later, when Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor, he passed by this small village again and found that the persimmon tree was still there, still covered with red persimmons. Facing this situation, Zhu Yuanzhang had many thoughts. It was this persimmon tree that saved him from starving to death.

He looked up at the persimmon tree, slowly took off his red shirt, climbed up again, solemnly put his shirt on the persimmon tree, and named it "Ling". "Shuanghou", then reluctantly left.

After this story spread among the people, the custom of eating persimmons during the frost gradually formed.
