Three national treasures were unearthed from a stupa containing five generations of elements in Liaoning, but few people know it now.

Although I had seen the White Pagoda in Liaoyang, the Twin Towers in Chongshan Temple in Chaoyang and the Yun Jie Pagoda in Fenghuang Mountain before I went to Chaoyang North Pagoda, I was still full of surprises when I suddenly saw this ancient pagoda while walking in downtown Chaoyang.

First of all, talk about the city of Chaoyang. Although today's sunrise looks a little small, even many people don't know where the city is. However, if we turn to the history of Chaoyang, we can know that it was once the northern swallow in the "Three Swallows", which was created by Han Fengjia. To the Liao Dynasty, Chaoyang belonged to Dadingfu, Zhongjing Road. Because in many dynasties, Chaoyang was always a Buddhist holy place at that time, so the rulers built stupas here, of which the North Pagoda was the most intact.

Why is this Chaoyang North Tower extremely precious? Because it is the only stupa in the world that was built and repaired in Sanyan, Northern Wei, Sui and Tang Dynasties and Liao Dynasties, that is to say, it is a "Five Dynasties" stupa, so it seems that Chaoyang North Pagoda is indeed a unique existence.

Chaoyang North Tower was built in the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty. It was the "Four Eyes Buddha Map" built by the then Queen Feng on the former site of Sanyan Longcheng Palace to promote Buddhism. It was a wooden pavilion tower, but it was later destroyed by a fire.

The fourth generation North Pagoda is the Kaiyuan Temple Pagoda in Tianbao period of Tang Dynasty. At that time, Li Longji ordered Yingzhou Secretariat An Lushan to rebuild the pagoda and renamed it Kaiyuan Temple Pagoda. An Lushan himself was from Chaoyang.

At present, the North Tower we see is a tower of Liao Dynasty, that is, in 9 16 of the first year of Shenzhou, the Kaiyuan Temple Tower was renovated here and renamed Yanchang Temple Tower. It can be said that these five generations attached great importance to the North Tower. Today's Chaoyang North Tower is based on the rammed earth platform of Sanyan Palace, with the Four Eyes Buddha Map of the Northern Wei Dynasty as the platform and the brick tower of Sui and Tang Dynasties as the inner core. As an outer tower, the stupa in Liao Dynasty formed the architectural styles of "Tower in Tower" and "Tower in Tower".

From a distance, we can see that this is a building with the architectural characteristics of the Liao Dynasty stupa. The whole building is a square hollow 13-story brick with dense eaves and a height of 42.6 meters. It consists of rammed earth abutment, brick seat, sumeru seat, tower eaves and brake top.

In my opinion, the most striking feature of Chaoyang North Tower is its tower body, which is mainly composed of brick carvings on all sides. The relief part includes the Four-faced Buddha, the Eight Dangers Bodhisattva, the Twenty-four Flying Pagoda, the Eight Spirits Pagoda and the Eight Pagodas (Monuments). Sitting on the Buddha statue looks kind-hearted, wearing a gorgeous jewel crown and robe, revealing a knot. Under the lotus, Baosheng Buddha in the south, Amitabha Buddha in the west, Bukong Achievement Buddha in the north and Acheng Buddha in the east were carved.

There is a small square tower on each side of the tower, which looks like the epitome of the big tower. The name of the tower is engraved next to it, and the Chinese Falun Tower in Rokuyaon has also been seen. At the top of the small pagoda, you can also see six flying reliefs, which are graceful.

Of course, I heard that many antiquities have been unearthed in the underground palace of Chaoyang North Tower, including crystal agate, pearls, gilded bronze Buddha statues, glass bottles with ceilings, etc. , including three national treasures, namely the gilded silver pagoda, the gold and silver pagoda and the Persian glass bottle. It happened to be closed on Monday when Pony went. It's a pity to miss these treasures.
