What is the history of the Egyptian National Archaeological Museum?

The National Museum of Egypt is located in the center of Cairo, where the scenery is pleasant and the Nile runs through it. The Egyptian Museum is an ancient and luxurious two-story stone building, designed and built by the famous French archaeologist Mariel, who was called "the father of the Egyptian Museum" by the Egyptians in Braque, north of Cairo in 1858. The purpose of building this museum at that time was to prevent the excavated Egyptian national treasures from flowing abroad. After that, the museum moved twice and moved to Xinkailuo Museum on 1902.

The museum is divided into two floors, including 100 exhibition halls and a large library. The design of the entrance of the museum incorporates the characteristics of ancient Egyptian art: the outline of the gate is a circular arch, and there is a European relief in the niches on both sides of the arch, one of which holds papyrus and the other lotus, symbolizing the north and south of ancient Egypt respectively. In the garden of the museum, there are many statues of famous Egyptian scholars and outdoor exhibits such as the sphinx, obelisk and stone carving.

In 2002, when the National Museum of Egypt celebrated100th birthday, the Egyptian government announced that it planned to build a modern "Great Egypt Museum" near the famous great pyramid of giza near the capital Cairo, and publicly solicited designs from home and abroad. Egypt hopes that the "Great Egypt Museum" will become an eternal symbol of Egyptian culture and display the splendid and rich ancient Egyptian civilization. In 2003, the design scheme submitted by China architect Xie Fulin, representing Ireland, won the gold medal by combining tradition and modernity with its concise and bright design concept.
