What kind of place is Shaoguan, Guangdong?

I came to Shaoguan in 2006. After searching for more than half a year, I still couldn't find a decent job. I ended up selling air conditioners in a mall for a few months.

Let me talk about my own feelings:

Shaoguan is the northernmost prefecture-level city in Guangdong, which used to be Chenzhou, Hunan. It is said that there are three districts, but the real urban area is only a small area. It’s almost the island in the middle, plus the East River and the West River. The urban area is not too prosperous, with only a few specialty stores on the pedestrian street. There isn't a decent department store. There are two or three big companies in the urban area, such as Huohuo Co., Ltd., and the others that are better are China Mobile and China Unicom. The rest are recruited from small shops. Qujiang District, which is far away from the city, used to be a county. There is a Baitu Industrial Park there. I have also been there. I feel that there are not many companies, but the salary should be pretty good, about 2,000 yuan. But I feel that the location is too remote, just like living in the countryside. Maybe it’s because it can’t attract companies and the industrial park hasn’t developed yet.

In urban areas, excluding government agencies and mobile services, the cost is usually around a thousand yuan a month.

I suggest you that if you have other opportunities, there is no need to work here.
