Want to become a monk very much

Look at this story.

A Cheng is a tall, white and heroic young man. When the mountain was closed by heavy snow, he carried a bag with a white breath in his mouth and ice flowers on his eyebrows and hair, which appeared in Xiangweng's home. Acheng said that he had some psychological contradictions recently and was faced with a choice, hoping to get Xiang Weng's advice.

Acheng said that when he was in college, he came into contact with Buddhism and decided to study Buddhism. After graduation, he did not find a suitable job. In his view, many jobs are bad jobs in themselves. He doesn't want to do it, but it is almost impossible to find a job that can really make money and benefit the society. He ran several Dojo, participated in Buddhist summer camps and other activities, worked in several vegetarian restaurants, and later worked as a teacher and taught in a children's classic reading class.

A Cheng said: In recent years, I have bumped into several places from east to west and tried several living methods. It seems that none of them are what I want, and it seems that they are not after all. Seeing that I am old, my parents have been urging me to find someone to marry, but my heart is very contradictory. I want to learn Buddhism and face the problem of getting married and having children. I don't know how to decide.

Xiang Weng said: Then I want to ask you, what problem do you want to solve by studying Buddhism? Want smooth sailing? Seeking to get rich? Seek happiness, health and longevity? Or seek peace in the world?

Cheng said: These questions are not what I want to ask. What I want to ask is life and death, Qingming, seeing Buddhism with my own eyes, and forgiving all beings.

Xiang Weng said: this is a big event, and you can't just talk about it.

Cheng said: I am sincere. I'm not afraid of suffering. I must transcend the cycle of life and death in this life.

Xiang Weng said: If you really want it so badly, it will be a great victory. Then I will tell you rudely that you should stop talking about girlfriends, even vegetarian restaurants and classic books. You should become a monk.

Cheng said: I really want to become a monk. I never stopped thinking, but I never made up my mind. Many people advised me not to become a monk. It seems that Master Liu Zu also said that learning Buddhism and practicing should be done at home, not in temples.

Xiangweng said, the sixth ancestor said this to the lay man. Can he say there is no hope in our family? Many people can't become monks in this life because of various karma. If the Sixth Ancestor says that their family can't become a monk, we lay people should all hang ourselves. The words of the Sixth Ancestor are encouraging, and we need to build up confidence. The words of the sixth ancestor are measured, and they should be done at home, not in the temple. It means that we can practice at home, even get the Tao, but we don't have to become monks. It doesn't mean that being a monk at home is the same, let alone practicing at home. You can check it. There are many truly enlightened dads in history. How many people are there in their family? Only a few people can be identified, such as Fu Dashi and Pang Jushi. Moreover, these limited people are not ordinary people, and their wisdom is superb and comparable, which shows that there are many. Even so, they still do things that ordinary people can't do, endure things that ordinary people can't bear, don't run around the world, and concentrate on practice to truly achieve. Take the Pangjushi family as an example. Some children don't marry, others don't marry, but in the end all the wealth is thrown into the river. The family went into the mountains to practice seclusion, cultivate the land and eat vegetarian food in coarse clothes. What's the difference between this and becoming a monk? If they don't do this, they will become Buddhists while running the company to make money, or play politics in front of big officials, or hold their beautiful wives and boys while humming scriptures and chanting mantras? That's a joke.

A Cheng said: I heard a saying that in the last days of Buddhism, becoming a monk at home is not as good as becoming a monk at home. Some people say that practicing at home is the real kung fu.

Xiang Weng said: I didn't know this statement came from He Dian. Even if there is such a statement, we must know that the last era of France is very long, 10 thousand years, and we have just begun. At present, the situation is not so bad. The achievements of monks are much greater than those of their families, but monks generally pay attention to specialization and do not like publicity, and their achievements are not known to the society. In the family, it is often high-profile. Some people can speak and write, which has a certain influence on society. Therefore, it gives people a feeling that there are many Buddhists in the society, but the monks in the temple are not moving. This is an illusion. Buddhism and Taoism are not the same thing Of course, some people have a great theory and great influence, and finally they walk very smartly, but most of them are monks who really walk smartly. People who really achieve something are mostly silent and unassuming. Even now, it is common for monks to glow or burn relics after death. How many people are there in their family? You see, even a person with bad habits like me has now become a role, which seems to be a great virtue in the eyes of many people. Otherwise, so many people wouldn't have worked so hard to travel, which is ridiculous in itself. It is hard to say whether I can finally get out, so I dare not go out to show off easily, dare not fill myself with good knowledge, and dare not say that self-study is better than becoming a monk. It's true. I think those who ignore monks and think they are better than monks are mostly arrogant people who don't know the depth. If there is no one among thousands of people who are enlightened, and there is no one among hundreds of millions of people who are enlightened at home, then the difference will be great. We should have a clear understanding of this and not follow the trend. As for practicing real kung fu at home, it's even more nonsense. Who said that? If it is said by a monk, people call it politeness; If it is said by a family member, is this speaker a success? If he is a successful man, he can't be so natural, let alone so misleading ordinary people; If he is not a successful man, he is ignorant.

A Cheng said: I heard someone say that to learn Buddhism, you should be broad-minded, broaden all beings, abandon your family, career and life. That's self-cultivation. You can only practice Bodhisattva at home.

Xiang Weng said, this is even more nonsense. If Sakyamuni had not become a monk in those days, if Huineng, the sixth ancestor, had not become a monk, would Buddhism have been spread to this day without the abbot of the monk group? No In that case, even if there is a name of Buddhism today, it has long been confused with ghosts and gods, or it has become the so-called philosophical theory in the world. What is Bodhisattva Road? This is the Bodhisattva Road, as long as you have the insight and consciousness of Bodhisattva. Bodhisattva became a monk and stayed at home. A monk and a bodhisattva hold Buddha, and a bodhisattva holds Buddha at home. If you are a person who has learned the Tao and has its specific karma, you can show your family status and guide all sentient beings with various conveniences according to the needs of all sentient beings. It's called reversing. It's human. If you are an ordinary person without consciousness, you can't even find the other side yourself. You are struggling in the water. What is the Bodhisattva Road? That's called a ghost who doesn't know death. As for those people in the world who admire bodhisattvas, learn from them and are willing to give up their own interests or even their lives to achieve others, it can only be regarded as a kind of bodhisattva, but not as a real bodhisattva, because you can only solve people's temporary danger and save their lives, but you can't help people out of the sea of life and death. Even if you give up your life for this, it can only be regarded as a small favor in the world. Just because you are a bodhisattva doesn't mean you are a bodhisattva, just as the seed of a tree is not a big tree. In theory, every tree can become a big tree, but it needs land, sunshine, moisture, temperature, time and many other conditions to become a big tree. Without any conditions, it is impossible to become a big tree. In fact, there are countless seeds in the world, but in the end, none of them really grow into a tree, don't you think? This is especially true of learning from Bodhisattva, which requires intensive practice and can be achieved through infinite disasters, which is unbearable. As long as you don't realize it, even if you accept the precepts of Bodhisattva, you are still learning to become a Bodhisattva, which is called Bodhisattva or the seed of Bodhisattva because of the land. Of course, this seed has been planted underground, but whether it will grow into a tree in the end depends on many conditions, such as water, nutrition and weather. Even if it grows, it will not necessarily grow into a tree, and it will not necessarily be cut down or burned. Have you received the Bodhisattva amulet? No, it's not over. Think about it, you have been busy for several years, but you haven't really understood Confucius and Mencius' good laws on earth. You just believe in Buddhism and admire it, and you haven't even touched it. According to the Buddhist scriptures, even if you give with the seven treasures of the three thousand worlds, it is only a small favor in the world, and you can't live or die. How much did you do? Don't do bad things, just do good things. This is the law of the world. Even the life and death of Hinayana Lohan can't be done. How can we talk about practicing bodhisattva? Some laymen who study Buddhism in society cannot leave home because of love, family, career and other reasons, but they are afraid that others will say that he is not true in studying Buddhism, so they find their own explanations and say that he is practicing bodhisattva and riding at home. This is called self-deception. In fact, except for a few individuals, most people can't leave home to learn Buddhism, either because they can't let go of their hearts in the world, they can't get up, or they are bound by various constraints and are immature. In short, they are associated with karma. It is not shameful to admit this and face it squarely. This is the attitude that a Buddhist disciple should have. And stubbornly fill in the role, earn face, and find an explanation for yourself, which in itself is the performance of not learning from Buddhism. Becoming a monk and learning Buddhism is a matter for gentlemen, which is beyond the power of emperors and generals. They can't let go of their own country and the so-called great cause. To put it bluntly, they are still keen to make a career.

A Cheng said: People say that people have to do things on earth. Who will build the country, who will defend the country, and who will pay for the family to build temples and houses?

Xiang Weng said: in fact, it is impossible for everyone to become a monk. Becoming a monk definitely needs a big blessing. Even if you want to become a monk to make a living, you need a previous life. Without this fate and this blessing, who will shave your head? Some people suddenly encounter great obstacles and even die before they become monks. Some people suddenly become seriously ill or even die as soon as they step onto the altar, which is caused by too many reasons and insufficient blessings. In this world, everyone has a different background. Some people have practiced or even left home in their last lives, and more people have just climbed up from the three evils. It is difficult for these people to find a suitable job to make a living, let alone practice medicine at home. If they don't kill people, lie or do crooked things, they won't find another way to live. Why is this? There is no happiness. Do you think it's that easy to put on the cassock? Even if a person plays a monk for a while and wears a monk's robe for a while, it is also a karma planted in previous lives! Do you believe that a person's blessing is not enough and his mind is not at that level, even if he is forced to become a monk, he can't be forced to leave? If the country promulgates a law now, all citizens must become monks, and those who don't become monks will be beheaded, which is useless. There must be a large number of people going to the mountains or emigrating abroad to get married and have children. Ok, let's assume that if we all become monks, what will society be like? Think about it, people in our country are monks, meditating and practicing in the mountains, wearing coarse clothes, being vegetarian and having no property. Then the bank will be closed soon, the real estate will not be engaged, and the environment will not be broken. The air will naturally be clean, the sky will be blue, the mountains will be green, and dry springs will flow out. Naturally, all kinds of rich vegetables and foods will grow on the land without any pollution. Eat less, eat simply, and have good soil and water. If we bury a few seeds anywhere after meditation, we can't eat them all. Then what else can we do? Everyone abides by the precepts, the police are unemployed, and there is no need for state machinery or the army. Do you think foreigners will invade? In fact, invasion is also our sense of karma. If you don't have that karma, can he provoke you? Of course, if you don't practice, your heart won't break and your heart won't break. When you meditate, you still have a dagger hidden around you and a machine gun hidden in the grass. Then the other person can immediately feel your hostility and your murderous look. Before you know it, he will stab you to death. Then you still owe him your life.

Ji Weng's words made him laugh. He has heard many serious sermons before, but never heard such vivid and interesting statements. Being a monk and practicing such a serious subject made Xiang Weng laugh and cry, and many doubts were solved. Of course, becoming a monk is a vital choice in life after all. A Cheng still has some problems. He said that his parents also believe in Buddhism and have no objection to learning from him, but they still don't want him to become a monk. His father said that even if he wanted to become a monk, he should get married first and leave them a grandson before leaving. Xiang Weng asked Acheng what he thought of this problem. Acheng said that he still can't make up his mind, and his parents' ideas seem reasonable. Who doesn't want someone behind him to continue the incense? Besides, Confucius has repeatedly taught us to observe filial piety!

Xiang Weng smiled. Cheng's idea is very representative. This is the first difficulty for China to become a monk. So he patiently told Acheng, do you know what's wrong with you? It's called love entanglement. Family is a solid net, and family is the source of our life cycle. Other things are easier to handle, and this obsession is the most difficult to break through. Now that you have bound your parents with two ropes, it's hard to get away. When you have another beloved wife, tie a rope, which is much better than your parents' two ropes. If you leave, she will hang herself. What would you do? If you want another child, it will be even more troublesome. You can't let go without a child dragging you. Don't be blind and confident, you'll understand then. What would you do? You said to wait until the children finish school before becoming a monk, and make money at home first. It is very important for your child to find a job after graduation. You should find him a job quickly. Just working, it's time for children to get married again. I have to get a dowry and buy a house, so tired. It would be better if you are rich, but you are not rich, so you need a loan. How many people do you say are buying a house now without a loan? Now you are in debt again. Pay off your debts. Your grandson is born again, and your son and daughter-in-law are busy at work. What should I do? Your wife may be ill, so you should take care of her and help your son take care of the children. In this way, life passed in the blink of an eye. We'll talk about it after 84 thousand. I didn't mean to scare you. Look at the world. I'll give you this hypothesis. All kinds of bad luck and opportunities in life are unpredictable. It's hard to say whether you will be alive tomorrow. You don't want to hear it. Life is impermanent Why are ghosts called ghosts? It is because he is unconventional. I tell you, in fact, I am constantly reminding myself that I can't lose my photos at any time, otherwise I don't know where to go until I come.

Besides, filial piety Confucius talked about the filial piety in the world, the filial piety to support the family and the birth of Buddhism, which few people understand. Now many Buddhist laymen are promoting Confucius culture, which is very good. It is a convenience, which is good for society and increases their blessings. However, they have unconsciously lost their original study of Buddhism, confusing Confucius' supreme goodness on earth with the birth of Buddhism, and even thinking that Buddhists have no filial piety, according to Confucian theory. This is a very upside-down view. Confucianism is a good law in the world, and Confucianism is about being a man, the knowledge of self-cultivation and leveling, and the rules of human games. Confucius is great, but Confucius only explained human nature, not the other five, so Confucianism can't live and die, and can't leave reincarnation. Confucian filial piety can only be a form of supporting the elderly and continuing the incense. This filial piety is a line. When children and grandchildren are cut off, it seems that life is cut off and filial piety is over. But Sakyamuni Buddha saw the cycle of life more thoroughly and completely. Life and death are an illusion. People and I are a kind of separation, and all beings are one. Seeing men as fathers and women as mothers, this filial piety is endless, not a line, but all over Buddhism. In this way, when a person becomes a monk, he will not only honor his parents in this life, but also honor all parents since the infinite robbery. He not only took care of his parents' warmth, but also fulfilled their intelligence and wisdom. This kind of filial piety is indescribable and incomparable to all filial piety in the world law.

Why do you say that one son becomes a monk and nine families ascend to heaven? I have a profound personal experience about this. My son has also become a monk. He was very filial before becoming a monk. He gave me money when he was working in Shenzhen. My wife and I are content to have a good son, and we are always worried about whether he will be smooth sailing. In short, we can't live without feelings. Then our son became a monk. Of course, we still miss him, but at this time, whenever we think that he is a solemn monk treasure, we naturally have the heart to read Buddha, dharma and monk. This is a great blessing, our life is more substantial and peaceful, and there is no obstacle from future generations. If the fragrance behind you, which layman can compare with the fragrance behind a monk? My father-in-law heard that his grandson had become a monk for the first time, and I was so angry that I forced him to become a monk. A few years later, his grandson came home to see him, and my father-in-law took it at first sight. Later, he told me that it was right for children to become monks. Look at his words and deeds and weather now. It's extraordinary. Compared with the little brothers he grew up with, it is a world of difference. My father-in-law specially asked me to get him a picture of a child dressed as a monk, saying that he would hang it on the bedside, watch it every day and make a vow to recite Buddha. Do you see how powerful this power is? Why do many monks' parents and relatives go to heaven without learning Buddhism? It is precisely because these people have relatives who have become monks that they have planted deep seeds of three treasures in the Eight Knowledge Fields. Becoming a monk is a great filial piety and kindness that ordinary people in the world cannot imagine and experience.

We can see the merits and demerits of this family from history. The emperor of the Tang Dynasty respected his family very much, which led to the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty. The emperor shunzhi became a monk in the Qing Dynasty, and only in Yongzheng did he become a monk. In the Song Dynasty, Yang Jiajiang made great contributions to the country. After all, the cause of killing was too heavy, and Yang Wulang became a monk, thus saving a large family from drowning. Yuan Shizu Kublai Khan laid a solid foundation for this country. Of course, this is why he has this blessing. But after all, he killed too many people, so his daughter made a vow to become a monk, pay off her parents' debts and pray for the world. Up to now, there is still the Lingta of Yuan Shizu's daughter in Tanzhe Temple. Confucianism has twenty-four filial piety, which is great in world law, but which one can compare with it?

A Cheng said: I am ashamed that I have been studying Buddhism for several years and have never really understood this great filial piety of Buddhism. Now I am inspired by you. But even so, it is difficult for parents to understand. How to convince them?

Xiang Weng said: Love is too powerful. Even if you convince your parents in theory, they may not really want you to become a monk. Becoming a monk is never easy. Even Sakyamuni Buddha didn't climb over the wall in the middle of the night? This is very telling. What happened afterwards? My father made a large number of ministers and senior officials become monks, and accumulated endless blessings. My mother also reached the peak and listened to the words of the Buddha. After all, people in this world are ordinary people, and it is extremely rare to actively support their children and husbands to become monks. This just shows that love is hard to come out, and life and death are deeply rooted. We can't make it ourselves. What is the breadth of sentient beings and righteousness? Where can we help our relatives and the public get rid of the cycle of life and death?

Cheng heard here and said, XiangWeng, I really understand this time. It is better to learn Buddhism and become a monk. Of course, I can't make a decision yet. I must make it clear carefully.

Xiang Weng said: Becoming a monk is a big deal, and you can't be hot-headed and make hasty decisions. I don't persuade people to become monks easily. Today, I observed that you have this root, this blessing and conditions. It's a pity that an excellent and well-founded young man like you doesn't become a monk. That's why I said the above. Becoming a monk is becoming a monk. If you can't become a monk, you have to do something vulgar. If you put on a robe, you will bear the burden of Tathagata's family business. Monks are born teachers, and they are by no means a profession to make a living. If you don't practice, you will still strive for fame and gain, collect money, eat and drink meat, or say heresy, you might as well not become a monk, because that will tarnish the image of the three treasures.

A Cheng said: It is not uncommon to see such fake monks now. To tell the truth, it is because I have seen many monks who are not as good as the law that I have shaken my doubts about becoming a monk.

Xiangweng said, I haven't seen it before, so I dare not talk nonsense. You haven't become a monk. I remind you not to judge and insult your family easily. Even if you meet a monk who is inferior to Dharma, you should learn the right way, and don't think about parting, otherwise it will be a mistake. Now that we have entered the era of last law, it is not unusual for monks to mix some scum. For this reason, young people with sincere beliefs and ambitions should become monks, be lighthouses at night, and be the mainstay, so that Buddhism can last for a long time and make great achievements.

Acheng sincerely assured Xiangweng that I would never live up to Xiangweng's painstaking efforts today. If I become a monk, I will be a brave and diligent qualified monk.

The truth of law is corresponding, and conversation is speculative. Unconsciously, nearly two hours have passed. Acheng got up to leave, worshipped Buddha and left. Watching Acheng disappear at the end of the alley, Xiangweng nodded with satisfaction: He is a good young seed who preaches Buddhism and benefits students. Xiangpo said: No one dares to look down upon it. Maybe at some point, this young man will come to you again, and he will be a monk with great dignity.
