Archaeological Discovery of Xituanshan Culture

Xituanshan is a round hill made of granite, which is named because it is located in the southwest of Jilin City. The southeast side of the mountain is adjacent to Songhua River and its tributaries, and there are many stone tools and pottery scattered on the southwest slope. Teachers and students of Northeastern University (now Northeast Normal University) found that the south slope of Xituan Mountain is a large tomb group after preliminary cleaning and excavation in 1948. Later, at the initiative of Guo Moruo, then president of China Academy of Sciences, the Northeast Archaeological Excavation Team headed by the famous archaeologist Dr. Pei Wenzhong conducted a comprehensive excavation of Xituanshan in September 1950. This time, a large number of sarcophagus tombs and an ash pit were excavated, and a large number of cultural relics were unearthed, mainly stone tools, pottery and dental appliances. At that time, in order to facilitate predation and prevent water disasters, people chose to live on the sunny slope of low hills, and the bedroom was deep crypt type; Later, many people lived on the platform on the hillside, and their rooms became semi-crypt; Later, I began to move to the plain, and my bedroom became a shallow crypt.
