Explanation of "What a sad autumn! It is desolate and the vegetation is falling and decaying"

The breath of autumn is so sad!

What a desolate scene, with wild vegetation and fallen trees, a scene of decay.

This sentence comes from Song Yu's "Nine Bian". Song Yu was a student of Qu Yuan and wrote many poems. The ancients had a tradition of mourning autumn, which mostly originated from this sentence.

(Supplement)

I think this is not an allusion, but the poet's experience of autumn, which has been praised by everyone for thousands of years. Song Yu also wrote a piece called "Feng Fu", which I think is also very good. For reference materials, if possible, take a look at "Selected Works" compiled by Xiao Tong, a native of the Southern Dynasties.
