Remember a gorgeous date that cannot be missed: the stage play "I Have a Date with Spring"

"I have a date with spring". This drama will be familiar to viewers whether they like TVB or not. In the play, there are four youthful girls who come from different backgrounds and have different personalities, but they have become the enviable Jinlan sisters. Xiaodie said something in the play: It is rare to have one confidant in life, but I have three.

Yes, I am so jealous.

The play also has good music and a gorgeous stage. It seems that no matter what TV series, adding music will make the show come alive, not to mention the songs in the show that are so contemporary and catchy, you can hum along after listening to it a few times. Most importantly, the script is well written. Looking at the crude scripts of TVB today, everyone will sigh: the old movies are still good. The technology at that time was far less advanced than it is now, but "I Have a Date with Spring" looks no different even now.

Because of my love for this TV series, when I learned that the stage play of the same name would be performed in Shanghai, my wallet was already ready. When I bought the ticket, I chose a seat in the orchestra pit. Except for Jacky Cheung's concerts, I have never sat that far in front.

The cast is so strong that it really feels like most of TVB has moved to Shanghai. I went for Xie Tianhua. Unfortunately, I only found out in recent years that Xie Tianhua and Jacky Wan were on the same stage in 1997's "Snow Wolf Lake". At that time, I didn't know who Nicholas Tse was, even though he had acted in many TVB dramas and movies like "Young and Dangerous".

It wasn’t until Brother Laughing came out that I started to pay attention to him, and then I learned that he had participated in "Snow Wolf Lake", and only then did I watch the drama to make up for it.

Another actress I like more is Jiang Meiyi. Naturally, I like her because of the role of Sister Head in "Up to the Sky 2". I originally thought that such an intellectual sister would play Akane Kurren, but I didn't expect that she would actually be playing Jin Lulu. Hahahaha~ It’s quite embarrassing to talk about the reason why I chose this role. I sing the least, but after choosing, I realized that she sang first, and she sang a cappella.

Laughing to death. Lovely sister.

September 15th, the first day after the study tour in Hokkaido. Just when I got home at 3 a.m., it started raining heavily that night. When I came out of the subway, it was windy and rainy. After taking only a few steps, my clothes were already soaked, and it didn’t matter whether I held the umbrella or not. I walked into the Oriental Art Center in embarrassment, thankful that the air conditioner was not turned on too cold. The seats in the orchestra pit are really cool, so close! Super close! It’s just not convenient to read subtitles. Waiting patiently for the opening, perhaps due to the heavy rain, the opening was delayed by a quarter of an hour in order to wait for the audience.

Understandable.

At 19:30, the performance officially started. The gorgeous journey begins.

1. Stage script.

Compared to the length of a TV series, it is impossible for a stage play to be comprehensive. Then it depends on how the screenwriter extracts the essence. I once praised the screenwriter of the musical "Les Misérables" on Weibo because he maximized the main line of the novel and refined the novel with a large amount of information into a musical with high precision. The main line is clear and the characters have different personalities. The blend of fate and social background is perfect.

Looking at the script of this stage play, it is too simplified. The screenwriter used subtraction instead of refinement. The various conflicts between Xiaodie and Shen Jiahao when they first met were cut out, and the process of the four sisters getting acquainted was also cut out. The story of the memories started directly from the confrontation with Wanbi. Such a drastic reduction is very demanding on the audience. If you are not familiar with TV series, you may not be able to keep up with the rhythm.

If the script can be made more refined, the content presented will be better.

2. Stage design.

This is the most problematic part of the entire show. There is absolutely no problem with the choreography, the stage is very gorgeous, and it faithfully restores the colorful world, which may be even better than the TV series of the year.

But! The stage mechanism design is really lazy.

I mentioned in my brief review that almost all the props were moved up and down by staff who were not involved in the performance. This should be criticized and affects the theater viewing experience.

Stage mechanism design is also part of the performance, and good design can enhance the audience’s experience. For example, "Phantom of the Opera", this large-scale scene-changing mechanism is still talked about by fans. Whether it is the beautiful scene of the candles rising automatically when Little C is first taken to the underground palace, or the magic design of the rice pail disappearing from the chair at the end, it can be enjoyed by the audience who are watching the show for the first time.

So this money cannot be saved.

This is the most fatal flaw in the stage play "I Have a Date with Spring".

3. Actor.

There is basically no need to say anything about this. Almost all of TVB’s best actors and the most popular ones are here.

Although the saxophone played by Nicholas Tse, Shen Jiahao, is a bit fake, it still feels very good. It's not the same as the wealthy family in Jianghua. And that costume that almost blinded me, it was so dazzling. Because the performance is in a nightclub, all the actors have their own holy light, and their costumes are all very flashy.

In addition, let’s talk about Bai Lang. I don’t know why I can see Tang Seng’s feeling... oh so immortal~

There is also Jiang Meiyi’s Jin Lulu, that iconic laugh can be It made the whole audience laugh. Her flirting with Da Ji Lu was also very funny. The two of them really matched each other.

Guan Lijie is also one of my favorite actors. The difference between the young and middle-aged Daji Lu he played is quite obvious. She was shy when she was young, but when she matured, she was steady and I liked her very much. I am also very thin...

The other actors are also good. At the end of the curtain, the actors we are familiar with will receive high cheers. Like, like, like!

Basically all the feelings I want to write are here. I read in the news that there will be a second round of performances in the future, and some actors will also be replaced. Lan Fengping will be played by Wan Qiwen, the actress who played Fengping in the TV series, and Yang Yi will also join in as Xiaodie. Gee, it’s still a gorgeous lineup! If you missed the first round and are interested after reading my review, you can try to look forward to the second round of performances.
