First, you may be promoted to this position and be proficient in programming. However, your business scope will make you feel like a bottleneck. Do you want to jump out or change the medicine? It is programming and operation, and it is difficult to make a qualitative leap.

Second, your company is not a state-owned enterprise, so it is difficult for you to get the certification of senior technicians, and it is even more difficult for you to participate in any numerical control competition. If you can't get the qualification certificate of the so-called authoritative department, you will always be a machine tool driver.

Third, everyone is most concerned about income. As a mechanic, you can raise your salary from 2000 to 3000 or even 8000, but will it go up? Unless you are awesome.

In this professional background, painting is just a basic tool, just like when we were young, masons used their tools, and carpenters used saws and axes.

If your main job now is painting, this is a good thing. After improving my drawing ability, skillfully using one of UG, CATIA and Pro /E software, and accumulating some knowledge of the whole modeling design and manufacturing process, I may be able to successfully jump to a design company and engage in design work.

As you are a fresh graduate, after you find a stable company. Maybe you will become a technician in quality or manufacturing or safety department, or even a buyer, so your career choices will be much broader.

Of course, the most important thing is your own position and attitude. Positioning should be accurate, attitude should be correct, and you should not be impetuous, because it is not so easy to find a job or find a good job without three or two years of work experience.

I suggest you get in touch with your classmates more and know what they are doing and learning. Learn more about the company you want to join, what kind of people they recruit and what their requirements are, and then see if you meet their requirements, or compare yourself with what you can't make up for.
