Tao in photography

The first photo was actually bought by my wife and put on the dining table. At that time, the lighting was only the lamp on the dining table, and the camera was placed on a tripod. Nothing else. After my first movie, I got into the theme!

"Tao", a very metaphysical but ubiquitous statement in life or the underlying logic mentioned in western philosophy, can't be expressed in words here. Let's use the above passage for the time being!

Tao can be Tao, very Tao! This sentence is well known in the Chinese world, but what is "Tao"?

To borrow a sentence from Jing Ke: I don't know its name, but I strongly call it Tao.

"Tao" does not care about the word itself, but a law that exists in all things in the world. I really couldn't find any word, so I reluctantly used it!

Then why did I mention photography? I don't know if any friends have read my previous articles about the four realms of photography. I've been photographing for so many years, and I've never photographed my work. Instead, I have been exposed to various philosophies over the years and feel that this "Tao" also exists in photography!

At first, I bought a camera to satisfy my narcissistic hobby. Later, I really learned photography because I opened an online shop. In order to make the products look good, I am reluctant to sign up for various expensive photography courses for economic reasons. I was thinking about it myself, so I came into contact with still life photography for the first time!

Then photography began to blend into my other hobby-"outdoor donkey walking", and I began to get in touch with landscape photography!

Recently, I found that photography has nothing to do with the "theme". I took pictures of my heart!

In still life photography, we learn all kinds of lighting, composition and color matching, which are high-tech things. If we stay here all the time, the highest level of our life will be craftsmen. But if we can understand the personality of each still life or the Tao in still life photography, we will not stick to dogmatic techniques such as light, composition and color matching. I think the so-called "legal uncertainty" is probably.

So is landscape photography. When I first started landscape photography, I thought about going deep into the mountains, going to the seaside and flying to the ends of the earth all day. In fact, there are many beautiful scenery near my home, even if it is just a wild mushroom on the ground and an inconspicuous grove on the roadside, it can be very interesting!

After a lot of study and summary, I have actually abandoned the dogma in traditional teaching, such as what three-point composition, what symmetrical composition, what bright spots can't be pale, and the dark parts can't be dead and dark. It doesn't matter anymore. What matters is what is the scene in your mind, and the expression technique exists in the Tao, which you have learned and summed up by yourself.

Then still life photography and portrait photography are the same. I think these have their own "Tao". Once you master this Tao, it is the "Wulin Secret Book". No one taught the secret books of Wulin, but I learned them myself. This secret book of Wulin is "Tao"!
