Most of our services at various points are concentrated in the above blocks. But at the same time, combined with the different characteristics of each school, each school has its own special services, such as some schools mainly focus on life education courses, and some schools intervene in services in the form of choirs.
As we all know, some changes have taken place in the project mode from now on. The project provides services in the form of volunteers, who rotate once every one to two months. Today, the project employs specialized social workers to provide two services continuously.
At that time, I was a social worker volunteer in three schools. Review and reflect on my experience as a volunteer and full-time social worker. I feel that the service is very different from the new one.
When recruiting volunteers for the social work volunteer service project of Sichuan Earthquake Hope School, I think most of the volunteers signed up with enthusiasm and love to support the disaster area, just like me. Our volunteers really put great enthusiasm and energy into the actual service work, and sometimes they even forget themselves. Take the social work team of China Youth Political College of Dongcheng Experimental School as an example. Our weekly service work includes class collective activities of four classes, a large number of letters and replies from students, the handling of referred students' case problems, temporary community activities and so on. In addition, there is a lot of paperwork to deal with, and the workload can be imagined. Working overtime until the early hours of the morning is like routine. At that time, there was a saying among volunteers: "Work is life".
I still remember last month, when sharing with the teachers of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a volunteer wrote such a sentence-"Sichuanese who can't be crushed by the earthquake are tired social workers". But is this really the case? I don't think so. We social workers are human beings, and sometimes we collapse. At the end of last semester's service, many volunteers felt exhausted. This exhaustion not only refers to energy, but also includes professional knowledge.
Generally speaking, the main feature of service is that emotional service enthusiasm is the most important driving force of service work, and social work services are everywhere, and a large number of social work activities have been carried out, such as lectures, groups and training.
However, when I became a full-time social worker, like other full-time social workers, I began to seriously think about the continuity and continuity of services. One sentence I often say the most is "We must separate work from life". So when making the service plan, we began to seriously consider how to arrange the workload reasonably.
So in contrast, the main feature of our service this semester is that rational thinking overwhelms emotional service enthusiasm. Social responsibility has become the main driving force of our work. In this period, we no longer serve simply to give love, but more take it as our career choice.
Therefore, compared with the situation that social work services are everywhere, we reduced the workload of services this semester and began to shift our focus to the depth of services, not the surface of services. In the formulation and implementation of specific service plans, we pay more and more attention to the realization of service objectives. And all the work is around the big goal of the whole project. For example, the two work plans of social work service in our school are the decomposition of the overall goal of a project. The significance of our service is not only to meet the needs of schools, but also to explore a school social work model that conforms to local characteristics.
In addition, in the process of carrying out specific services, we also give priority to the interests of the clients and carry out service work. We hope that through our efforts, we can really create a paradise for children to grow up.
Generally speaking, after continuous adjustment and improvement, our service work has been carried out smoothly, and all the work is not on the right track, which has been further recognized and supported by entering the school.
I think this is the result of the joint efforts of every front-line social worker. We have always maintained our enthusiasm for service work, and at the same time we have formed a supporting force with each other.
Of course, in the process of our service work, we will inevitably encounter all kinds of puzzles and restrictions, the biggest of which comes from the work restrictions brought about by the lack of professional knowledge, especially in cases, where relevant training is urgently needed.
China Youth Development Foundation and China Social Work Education Association organized this training course for us in time after understanding our needs. After several days of study, I have gained a lot. When undergraduates study social work, they have fewer practical opportunities and can't understand and absorb what they have learned well. After a period of school social work practice, I feel more targeted when I come back to study, and it is easier to understand with my own practical experience. I believe this training will be of great help to our future service. At the same time, I also believe that with the support of China Youth Development Foundation, China Social Work Education Association, participating universities, Sichuan Local City Education Bureau and resident schools, we will definitely do better and better, and our service will get better and better!
