Travel Notes

Shahu is an eco-tourism resort that combines the Jiangnan water town and the desert scenery. It is a national tourist scenic spot. It was originally a farm of the army and was later developed into a tourist area. It can be called the Pearl of the Great Wall during the cruise to the scenic spot. I didn’t even feel that I was outside the Northwest Great Wall. It was very similar to the water network area in the south of the Yangtze River. The reeds on the shore and the water ducks in the water were so familiar that I thought it was somewhere in the south.

Because we had a thorough understanding of the tourist attractions here, we knew that there are basically all the attractions here in Shapotou, and they are more spectacular, interesting, and colorful than those here. Therefore, we came here just to enjoy the natural landscape of Saishang Mingzhu. I don’t plan to participate in any of the recreational activities.

As a reminder, you must take a good look at the exhibition hall in the Shahu Scenic Area. There is a sand table model that displays the mountains and rivers of Ningxia in great detail. , it is very useful to understand the trend and direction of the Yellow River in Ningxia, and to understand why the thousands-mile Yellow River enriches Ningxia!

Listening to the introduction of the commentator against the sand table, I suddenly felt clear-headed and clear about the Helan Mountain, Jiujiu The Quhuang River is like a three-dimensional picture in front of us, and everything is in our minds. On the sand table, we also saw the 108 Tower we were going to visit in the afternoon!

After leaving the exhibition hall, we walked along the lake. You can climb the sand dunes or enjoy the beautiful scenery along the lake by following the trail. (Note: If you don’t go back, follow the trail to the end of the return dock. We were more interested in the desert, so we climbed to the top of the sand dunes in one go. I thought I could see the vast expanse of desert. Who would have thought that there was no desert behind the dunes? Alas! Frankly speaking, the scenery of the sand lake was really disappointing. Yes, but for those of us from Wuhan, it can be said that it is commonplace because we have the Yangtze River and East Lake, and the water area is much larger than that of Shahu, especially now that the city government has spent a lot of effort and investment along the Yangtze River and East Lake. River beaches and green trails have been built for citizens to take leisurely walks, and vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering. Every morning, evening or holidays, citizens go to the river beaches or trails in groups to exercise, which is also a sight to behold!

Lunch. Finally, we went straight to Tower 108 as planned, which is also where we have to pass on our way to Zhongwei.

When we arrived at the gate of the 108 Tower Scenic Area, we learned that the price reduction document issued by the Ningxia Autonomous Region Government was not valid here. The conductor explained that in any case, you have to buy the full ticket. (In the 7-day tour, this is the only place with full admission.

After entering, I first visited the museum that introduced various pagodas across the country, which added a lot of knowledge. Even the pagoda of our Wuhan Baotong Temple was included. , the statistics are quite comprehensive.

In the middle of the exhibition hall, there is a newly built glazed tower, which is crystal clear and very nice.

You can also scan the 2D to see the exhibition. We listened to the explanation by ourselves. We had the experience of the Xixia Royal Tombs, and it was easy to get there.

The last step is to climb the 108 Tower. This is a large-scale ancient tower in my country. One of the groups is located under the cliff on the west bank of Qingtongxia Reservoir. The tower group faces west and east.

Why does it sit west and east? Because this section of the Yellow River runs north-south, which is worthy of the name. For those of us who are accustomed to the Yangtze River flowing from west to east, it is indeed an eye-opener. We have always heard about the famous generals in Hedong or the people in Hexi. Today we have witnessed the magic of the Jiuqu Yellow River.

The pagoda is close to the mountain. Water is a Lama-style solid pagoda group built in the Xixia period (it was destroyed many times and later rebuilt. According to the mountain top from top to bottom, press 1, 3, 3, 5, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 The odd numbers 15, 17, and 19 are arranged in twelve rows, with a total of 108 towers, forming a huge group of towers with a triangular overall plane. It is named after the number of towers.

Listen to the museum’s audio introduction. Learned: The Yellow River here is sandwiched between the remaining mountains of Helan Mountain and Niushou Mountain. Because of the interception of the Qingtongxia Reservoir Dam, the water here is very gentle, as people often say, as quiet as a virgin!

There's just one thing I haven't figured out yet. I've also been to the Xiaolangdi Reservoir, which is also a water conservancy project on the Yellow River. The water there is extremely clear and not as muddy as the Yellow River. So after the project was completed, The local climate has changed somewhat, with more rain and lush green vegetation. But the Yellow River here is still yellow with sand, and the mountains on both sides are still bare. Is the water not deep enough? Or is the water area not large enough? ?Or maybe there are too many rocks on the mountain and they won't cooperate? I don't know!

However, it is a wonder to see the Jiuqu Yellow River flowing so gently! Compared with the Hukou Waterfall, it is simply a completely different "river".

There is also a temple built in the scenic area, and the big Buddha statue stands in the square of the temple, but we are not interested in temples or anything like that, so we just glanced at it.

Maybe I was looking too carefully, but time flew by so fast. When I arrived at Zhongwei, it was already dark. I stayed at the Zhongwei Yellow River Hotel next to the Drum Tower that I had booked with Ctrip. Even though Zhongwei was smaller than Yinchuan, the hotel was in pretty good condition!
