A northerner's view of Jieyang city

Not long after graduation, I have worked in Guangdong for many years. The longest stay is in Shenzhen, but I have also been to surrounding cities, such as Guangzhou, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Foshan, Zhaoqing and Heyuan. These cities are basically for tourism. Seven-Star Rock in Zhaoqing, Dinghu Mountain, Royal Hot Springs in Zhuhai, Iron Spring in Longmen, Happy World in Changlong, Guangzhou, drifting in Heyuan and so on.

This is my first visit to Jieyang, and I've only heard of a city in Guangdong called Jieyang before. I don't know much about other information about this city, but now I'm here at last. Let me talk about my own views.

What puzzles me most every day now is that I don't know what to eat. I haven't eaten a lot of food here. In fact, it's a bit embarrassing to walk to a restaurant. It takes a long time to know what to eat. For example, the first time I listened to kway teow, I didn't know what it was. Although I have been in Shenzhen for a long time, I feel that I have never been so entangled in eating. Shenzhen is really all-encompassing, and food can be found anywhere. There are many small shops, which can meet the needs and tastes of people everywhere. So when I came here, I just ordered takeout every day.

Before I came to Jieyang, I said that people here were a little xenophobic, such as Chaoshan dialect. For the first time, I know that Cantonese and Chaoshan dialect are completely different. People in Jieyang all speak Chaoshan dialect, unlike everyone in Shenzhen who speaks Mandarin.

Jieyang people are very pragmatic in doing business. For example, people communicate well today, and they may turn against each other tomorrow. This is what I searched online. The business atmosphere here is obviously stronger than that of our second-tier provincial capital cities in the north. There are obvious industrial clusters, such as jade and stainless steel. There are many small individual bosses.

Jieyang may have a mediocre economy in Guangdong province, but I generally feel that individual wealth groups are obviously superior to our provincial capital cities, and it seems to be better from the level of cars driven. Prices are higher than those in our provincial capital cities.

Jieyang's urban construction obviously lags behind the third-and fourth-tier cities in our province. There is not even a decent shopping mall and a well-known supermarket. Our city at the same level is obviously superior to Jieyang in terms of environment, sanitation, parks, schools, hospitals and supermarkets. For example, Renrenle, CR Vanguard, Yintai City, the national famous supermarkets, wanda plaza and other shopping centers abound. There are indeed many small supermarkets and convenience stores here, and the quality of food needs to be improved. There may be more expired food in small supermarkets.

The whole city of Jieyang is a business-oriented culture, and it pays little attention to education. It pays a little more attention to children's art education than to the results of cultural classes. The overall education level is relatively low, and the quality needs to be improved slightly. For example, when I first met someone from outside, I was still speaking Chaoshan dialect. It seems very common for cars to honk their horns at pedestrians on the road.

I feel that Cantonese people are very particular about food, and Chaoshan people are probably the most particular among Cantonese people. It is also quite surprising that Chaoshan people eat beef. It seems that they can't live without beef and Kung Fu tea every day. The pursuit of delicious food is beyond the reach of northerners. For example, it takes a few seconds to eat beef hot pot, and all parts of the cow are marked. I drank scorpion soup as bitter as Chinese medicine for the first time.

Chaoshan seems to be hotter than Guangzhou and Shenzhen. My arms are sunburned and tanned a lot. The sun is too strong. It is best not to go out from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Jieyang people can say that the whole Guangdong people are not fat, and they are not very tall, and they speak softly, unlike the voices of northern people's congresses. Compared with people in other parts of Guangdong, there is a little feeling that Jieyang people have a slightly bigger temper in private.

Jieyang people are generally easy to get along with and communicate with, and are very hospitable. No matter whether you have just met or have known each other for a while, it is no problem to have a cup of kung fu tea.

This is what I feel when I first came to Jieyang for less than a month. It only represents my personal feelings and subjective views, and there is no geographical discrimination. What do you think about the people and things in Jieyang? Or what's interesting and delicious can tell me in the comments section!
