In a word, Jin Yong's martial arts novels have experienced three versions: the old version, the new version and the new revision. The manuscripts from 1955 to 1972 are called old editions, which are mainly published in newspapers and periodicals, and there are also many singles without copyright, which may have been scattered now. Starting from 1970, Jin Yong began to revise all his works, and 1980 revised all his works. It's a new edition, named Jin Yong's Anthology. 1999, Jin Yong resumed the revision work and renamed it new revision (or century new revision). So far, all the new revisions have been completed and published.

Every time it is revised, the plot changes. The details and ending of the newly revised version of the story have also changed slightly, which has aroused great repercussions. At present, the publications of the three places across the Taiwan Strait are authorized by Guangzhou Publishing House, Huacheng Publishing House (published in June 2002, 1 1), Liu Yuan Publishing House of Taiwan Province Province and He Ming Publishing House of Hong Kong.

Foreign language translation version

The Story of the Sword is the first martial arts novel written by Jin Yong in 1955, and its English version is called Book & Sword (Hong Kong Oxford University Press), two volumes in Chinese, and one volume in English. The translator Graham Earnshaw is the editor-in-chief of this English magazine. It took him ten years to translate this book, and finally it was edited by the famous sinologist John Minford and his wife. When the Hong Kong media reported this news, it was a big flaw that they didn't ask the reviewers, because it was the key to ensure the quality of this book.

Minford once translated a complete set of A Dream of Red Mansions with his teacher David Hawks, which is regarded as the best English version of A Dream of Red Mansions. In his early years, Minford also co-translated two chapters of Duke of Lushan with Hawkes (1994 co-published with Mr. Cha's Going to Australia for Writers' Festival), and later served as a professor and director of translation research in the Translation Department of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. During this period, he organized the translation of three volumes of Duke of Lushan in English (five volumes in Chinese and condensed in English), and published the first volume in 1999 and in 2002. At present, there are not many English versions of Jin Yong's martial arts novels, including Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain published by The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press 1993.

Martial arts novels are close to eastern culture, so they are particularly popular in South Korea, Japan and Southeast Asia. There is a process for western readers to accept martial arts novels. However, Jin Yong's novels have been gradually accepted by western readers in recent years. Jin Yong's French translation The Legend of the Condor Heroes was published in Paris last year. Basically, it is a full translation, and the publishing house is Youfeng Bookstore. Mr. Pan, the owner of the bookstore, said about ten years ago that he would publish a standardized French version of Jin Yong's martial arts novels. I read the French version of Jin Yong's martial arts novels in Phnom Penh in my early years (because Cambodia has been ruled by France for a long time, Cambodians know a lot of French), and the translation is vulgar and ungrammatical. Five years ago, Mr. Pan made a special trip to Hong Kong and asked me to introduce Mr. Jin Yong, and personally expressed his determination to translate his works into French. Because the French don't know much about Jin Yong's martial arts novels, Mr. Pan dare not act rashly. He specially applied for the publishing fund from the French Ministry of Culture and Education in advance, and then invited a French translator to translate. In the meantime, it took about five years, and finally the French version of The Legend of the Condor Heroes was successfully published. After the book was published, it was quickly praised by French President Jacques Chirac and the French Ministry of Culture and Education. It is said that Chirac and French government officials were full of praise after reading it.

As early as 1970s, readers in Southeast Asia were attracted by Jin Yong's works. Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Cambodian, Malay and other languages have been published in this area. 1995 The simplified version of Star Map was published, and other languages were pirated and widely circulated. The Korean version of Jin Yong's martial arts novels became popular in the late 1980s, and twelve Korean publishing houses pirated all Jin Yong's martial arts novels. It was not until last year that Jin Yong officially authorized the Korean publishing house to publish his foreign language works.

The Japanese version of Jin Yong's novels is published by the largest German publishing house in Japan. 1April 1996 accompanied Mr. Jin Yong to Japan to sign a contract. Mr. Yasuyoshi Tokuma, the owner of Germany-Germany Publishing House, owns a comprehensive enterprise including film, publishing and newspapers. At that time, they decided to spend huge sums of money to publish the Complete Works of Jin Yong and organized a group of sinologists to translate them in Japan. 1996 The first Japanese library edition "The Book of Sword and Revenge" was published, and then the complete Japanese versions of Jin Yong's novels were published one after another and reprinted many times.

Israeli sinologist Xia Weiming 1998 said at the International Symposium on Jin Yong's Novels held in Taipei that since Jin Yong's works were published in Israel, Israeli college students have enjoyed reading Jin Yong's martial arts novels.

There is no doubt that Jin Yong's martial arts novels are going to the world and are increasingly welcomed by foreign readers.

[Edit this paragraph] Metallographic study

Due to the popularity of Jin Yong's novels, many writers began to write thoughts and book reviews, so the word "Jin Xue" came into being. However, Jin Yong himself has a little resistance to this name and thinks that he is suspected of studying A Dream of Red Mansions. Nowadays, most of them are collectively referred to as "Jin Yong's novel research".

Ni Kuang was the first person to study Jin Yong's novels. When Taiwan Province Province obtained the copyright of Jin Yong's novels, it published a series of "Jin Xue Studies Series" edited by Shen, and its famous writers commented on Jin Yong's novels respectively. A hundred schools of thought contend that Jin Yong has five episodes (San Mao, Dong, Luo Longzhi, Weng, Fa, etc. ), Yang Xing 'an and Jin Yong's Talking about the World, Wen Ruian's Talk about the legendary swordsman, Analysis of Flying Fox Duckling Knife in Snow Mountain, Appreciation of Eight Dragons and Exploration of Love and Carving Gods written by Jin Yong. Talking about Jin Yong (Pan Guosen) and reading Jin Yong all night (Xue Xingguo), among them, Jin Yong's novel written by Ni Kuang, which I read, was very popular and didn't come to an end until I read it for the fifth time. During this period, Boyi and Liangchuang also published a series of famous books about Jin Yong. Wu Aiyi, who was the producer of Ming Pao at that time, also wrote about men in Jin Yong's novels, life in Jin Yong's novels, women in Jin Yong's novels and love in Jin Yong's novels, and The World Written by Jin Yong by Yang Xing 'an. When Jin Yong's novels were officially authorized to be published in the mainland, the research on Jin Yong's novels became more lively, including novel content, characters, historical background, martial arts moves, diet recipes and so on. Among them, comparing the differences between different versions is the focus of the study. At present, only Chen Mo and Pan Guosen often comment on Jin Yong's novels. Jin Yong
