What is science fiction?

Science fiction (English abbreviation: Sci-Fi) is a literary genre that originated in the modern West.

It is defined as literature and art created by making reasonable assumptions (rather than delusions, otherwise it would be science fiction) on the basis of respecting scientific conclusions. It is generally believed that excellent science fiction novels must be "logically consistent" , "scientific elements" and "humanistic thinking" three elements.

At present, focusing on narrative and pursuing humanistic thinking has become the mainstream of science fiction novels. Domestic science fiction novels also show a trend of focusing on literature and art rather than science.

It is worth noting that few novels under the so-called science fiction category on major mainstream online literature platforms in China have all the above three elements. Their subdivision types and audiences are not the same as the science fiction defined in this entry. The novels are all very different and are not recognized by the Chinese science fiction community or the World Science Fiction Association. They belong to a branch of online literature. Accordingly, this entry will not introduce this genre.

Extended information:

In mainland China, writers such as Zheng Wenguang and Tong Enzheng were the first to write science fiction stories. Why was "Death Light on Coral Island" such a sensation back then that it was adapted into a radio drama and a movie? Because it is a story full of dramatic conflicts.

Ye Yonglie was the first to write "Personal Smartphone: Wandering the Future", a classic of stage 1.0 science fiction. Later he wrote "The Detective Collection of Jin Ming Ge Liang", which evolved into stage 2.0 science fiction. It is a genre of detective and science fiction. Each story is a case, sometimes even a case within a case. Ye Yonglie organizes the plot very smoothly.

By the 1950s and 1960s, European and American science fiction had basically developed into stage 2.0 science fiction. Screenwriters would not publish it without telling a complete story. By the 1990s, Chinese science fiction had basically completed this transformation.
