Reflections on the North Korean Oil Painting Exhibition

I saw a lot of western oil painting exhibitions and came to see the North Korean oil painting exhibition, which made my eyes shine. The painting style in North Korea is quite fresh. Both pay attention to truth and nature, and Korean oil paintings are more reserved in their own national traditional culture, which is also the bottom line that Korean artists insist on. Compared with western oil paintings, Korean oil paintings pay more attention to the description of details and have bright colors, so that they can't tell whether they are true or false. For example, after processing, the artist adds the illusion in his mind to the real scene, adding a little more obscurity and artistic conception, without losing the truth, and the more he looks at it, the more interesting it becomes.

Figures 5 and 6 are very interesting. Earlier in Professor Wang Yichuan's class, I talked about the Eye of China by Gombrich, which led to the problem of Gombrich. Generally speaking, a China painter and an English painter have been to the same place and painted the same picture, while Chinese painters use ink and wash. Gombrich thought, why are the same scenes painted by China painters and British painters completely different? He believes that there should be two different countries involved, which is related to the Chinese and British cultures behind it. Then Figure 4 and Figure 5 are in the same place, but they were drawn by different people of the same nationality. Why is the difference so big? In fact, Gombrich's problem is similar. If Gombrich's problem involves two countries and two cultures, then the scope involved here should be narrowed down a little, not so big, but it can't be separated from their own education, culture and three views. Coupled with their own experiences and emotions, there are a thousand Hamlets in the hearts of a thousand people, and different people have different Tianchi in their hearts. They just draw their own hearts. Seeing this at the same exhibition, I couldn't help laughing when I thought of Gombrich's problem. Very interesting.
