Why should I be an insurance broker? -Four-year stay-at-home mom changed careers

Yesterday, on 3.8 Girls' Day, after four years of silence, I announced in my circle of friends that I was coming back, and I switched to insurance.

Many friends and colleagues left me messages: "You used to be a good product manager, so why did you sell insurance?" There are surprises and accidents between the lines.

I know why you say that, so let me tell you why I want to sell insurance.

Entering the internet industry after graduation, a job that outsiders look glamorous.

With the continuous improvement of salary and rank, I have become like a super motor.

This industry is developing rapidly. It is common to work overtime every day. I often go home at midnight 10, but it is not surprising that everyone around me is like this.

It was not until I was pregnant that I began to rethink the meaning of life.

My conclusion is that for women, family and career can't be balanced.

I am willing to spend my three years wholeheartedly accompanying him and educating him. Although the career is on the rise, long-term suspension may mean the interruption of the career, but I also think it is worthwhile.

Nothing is more important to me than life itself. I discussed this idea with my husband, and he supported it, and I am very grateful to him.

Three years later, in the autumn, my son was two and a half years old and entered kindergarten. I know it's time for me to keep my promise, and it's time for me to start over.

Of course, I prefer my job. Several years of work interruption, coupled with the earth-shaking changes in the internet industry in recent years, obviously made me encounter some setbacks on the road of job hunting.

But in the end, with their professional advantages and language skills, I was hired by a foreign company. The salary and rank are higher than before. Report to the CEO, the promotion channel is good, and the most important thing is not to work overtime.

It seems that a job is satisfactory in all aspects, which also indicates that I can reopen the door of the workplace and climb a higher career ladder, right?

Unfortunately, it is not!

Because my family lives in Fangshan, I work in Guo Mao. This means that it takes me at least one and a half hours to go one way from home to work every day. Two hours is normal. A day's commute takes 4 hours! I tried five different means of transportation to work once a week, but no matter which one I changed, I brought my extremely tired body and heavy heart home every day.

Although renting a house can solve my problem, it is international trade. If I rent a one-bedroom apartment, that means I can't meet my children every day. Renting an extra room, not to mention the limited space for children's activities, also means that one-third of my monthly income will be contributed to the rent. I obviously have a home myself, but I can't go back, which also lowers the quality of life of the whole family. The baby is going to kindergarten soon. As soon as you check, either it is a public kindergarten of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and you can't get in at all, or it is Eaton International, and the monthly tuition fee is as low as1.2000.

I am thinking that if I do this job, then I will lose the most important bond with my children and reduce the quality of life of all children. Is it really worth it?

At work, even if I have confidence in myself, what can I do if I can be an executive in the future? But I still can't get rid of my fate in the hands of others, can I? What's more, it is not so easy to do that. It must take a lot of energy and time. With the growth of age, the decline of physical strength and energy, and the increase of children's educational needs, is it really wise for me to make such a choice?

After careful consideration, I listed my ideal professional standards:

It is best not to work, work hours are freely arranged, and you can accompany your family.

The future development space is very large, and you can enjoy the industry dividend.

There is no upper limit on income, and it is best to be a compound interest industry that can be engaged in for a long time.

It must be an industry that needs continuous lifelong learning.

Only by doing something truly valuable can we do it for a long time.

Finally, I unexpectedly found that the career of insurance broker can completely meet my above wishes!

Why?

You don't need to punch in, you don't need to punch in three days a week, and you don't need to come in the morning and afternoon if you have good performance. This is really my gospel, after all, it is incredible for people who are used to 996. I can flexibly adjust my time, develop my interests and spend time with my family.

20 19 July, Yang Chen, chairman of Mingya, said in an exclusive interview with Business magazine:

In western developed countries, the business undertaken by insurance brokers accounts for more than 50% of the whole insurance industry, and it has long been an international practice to entrust brokers to handle insurance business.

At present, there are about 8 million insurance agents in China, but there are less than 20,000 brokers. However, it is only a few decades since 1979 the State Council approved the resumption of domestic insurance reports. Moreover, at present, China's national insurance awareness is still immature, and the depth and density of the insurance industry are far below the level of developed countries. With the further prominence of health, education and old-age care in the future, the prospect of the insurance industry is very broad, and the broker model will certainly get more recognition.

I have met too many excellent insurance brokers, some of whom started from scratch. Within a year or two, they will become members of the MDRT (American Million Roundtable-the highest event of the global insurance industry elite) with a deep professional foundation, and they will grow very rapidly. Many people earn millions of dollars a year. Everything is based on strength, and the control is entirely in your own hands.

In addition, there is no age limit in the insurance industry, and you can stay until you are 90 if you like. With the improvement of professional quality and the accumulation of years, personal value is constantly improving, and there will be no bottleneck period.

Insurance broker, like lawyers and doctors, is a highly professional profession, which will inevitably prompt us to master more professional knowledge. In addition, insurance is essentially a financial tool, and there are many things to learn in finance, economy, policy, social environment, legal provisions, medicine and all aspects of our lives. And these are very practical and can be used in life.

Insurance is a very important invention in modern society. From a professional point of view, we can really make good use of this tool. It can really bring real value to every family. Let every family no longer be afraid of diseases and accidents, so that people can pursue a better life without worry.

I remember the most respectable spiritual mentor in American insurance industry, who has been in business for 60 years and is still selling insurance at the age of 94. Grandpa Medici has a saying:

Then I'll talk about what an insurance broker is and what's the difference between us and an agent.

To put it simply, insurance brokers accept clients' entrustment and represent their interests. Insurance agents represent the interests of insurance companies.

Insurance brokers can provide a variety of products from many insurance companies for customers to choose from, and can tailor the most suitable scheme according to different family situations.

Take Mingya insurance broker where I work as an example. There are more than 100 cooperative companies, and thousands of products are signed for sale.

Insurance agents can only represent the company's products and product lines.

Insurance brokers provide one-stop service. If there is a dispute or problem in the subsequent claims settlement, the insurance broker can provide reasonable claims settlement and legal support to the insurance company from the customer's point of view, so as to strive for greater benefits for the customer.

The insurance broker is the professional insurance consultant of the family. He is responsible for all the policies and all the follow-up services.

The Insurance Law stipulates that the loss of the insured due to the fault of the broker shall bear legal responsibility; The agent only handles insurance business within the scope authorized by the insurer (insurance company), and the insurance company shall bear the responsibility for any dispute.

Then why do every insurance broker you meet tell you your physical condition and health condition in detail and explain the terms in detail? Because they want to make sure that you know what you bought, and you won't be unable to pay because you didn't tell the truth when you settled the claim.

When I really came to Mingya, I found this company particularly interesting, Buddhist, low-key and pragmatic. No preaching, no brainwashing training, no forced sales. There are too many academic tyrants and industry elites in this crowd, each with unique skills, and everyone has a different personality.

Take my tutor as an example. He used to be an old driver in the internet industry, a senior financial editor, a wealth management investment tycoon, and an online celebrity. He was called "Brother Sharp" on the Internet. With its unique and sharp perspective, it attracted a large group of people who followed him. Usually he likes playing games and cooking, but when it comes to insurance, he immediately becomes calm and professional. Whether it is products or terms, he can understand the meaning of insurance from the lowest point of view. Although he never takes the initiative to sell, there is an endless stream of people who come to pay for consultation.

I feel more like an incubator of Mingya. Everyone is doing their own business in their own unique way. It allows us to really know ourselves, know ourselves and really work for ourselves. Behind this is a deep recognition of the insurance industry and an independent and objective professional ethics, as well as a deep desire to benefit the people.

The above is my mental journey. As a self-made pure white, I have no resources, no background and no experience, although I don't know what the future will be like. But I believe that only by really trying bravely can we feel the beauty of life. If you really agree with yourself, you can go all out.
