Mao Zedong’s Former Residence

Mao Zedong’s Former Residence is located in Shaoshan, Shaoshan Township, Shaoshan City The village land rushes into the house yard, which faces south and faces north. It is a "concave"-shaped building with a civil structure. Mao Zedong's house is to the east, the neighbor is to the west, and the main hall in the middle is used by two families. The total construction area is 472.92 square meters. The main attractions are Mao Zedong’s former residence, Bronze Statue Square and Dishui Cave. In 1929, the former residence was confiscated by the Kuomintang government and was destroyed. It was restored to its original appearance in 1950. In 1961, the State Council of the People's Republic of China announced it as a national key cultural relics protection unit. On June 27, 1983, Deng Xiaoping inscribed "Former Residence of Comrade Mao Zedong" on the plaque on the door. In July 1997, it was selected into the first batch of national patriotic education bases by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Forest of Mao Zedong's Poems and Steles

The Forest of Mao Zedong's Poems and Steles is located halfway up the mountain in Shaofeng, about 3 kilometers away from Mao Zedong's former residence. Dishui Cave Scenic Area

Dishui Cave is located in the west corner of Shaoshan Chong, 3 kilometers away from the former residence of the chairman. Dishui Cave Sky is a famous scenic spot group in Shaoshan scenery. It consists of natural scenery such as Dishui Yougul, Huxieping, Longtoushan and other buildings as well as Dishui Cave No. 1 and other buildings. Dishui Cave is about 2.8 kilometers long. There is a winding stream in the cave, and the mouth of the gully opens to the northeast.
