The last article talked about the replacement of belts. Today I will talk about the maintenance of gearbox. In fact, the main thing is to change the oil. There is basically no other maintenance for the gearbox, mainly changing the gearbox oil.
The following content comes partly from my own experience accumulation and partly from in-depth communication with senior technicians. I have tried my best to correct them for your reference. Please correct me if there are any shortcomings and fallacies.
Let us take Chery as an example. Chery's gearbox type is still relatively complete.
AT present, there are mainly three types of gearboxes: manual gearboxes, AT gearboxes, CVT gearboxes and dual-clutch gearboxes, among which dual-clutch gearboxes are divided into dry dual-clutch and wet dual-clutch. These types of gearboxes are found in Chery's Tiggo series. Both Tiger Eight and Tiger Seven are manual gearboxes. AT was used in previous cars, but it is not used now. The 1.5T version of the CVT gearbox Xinhuaqi is used, and the main model is the dual clutch gearbox. Xinhuaqi PRO and Xinhuaqi 1.6T versions are all seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearboxes, and Huba and Xinhuaqi's 1.5T versions are all seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearboxes.
We must first understand an important concept. The gearbox needs maintenance and the oil must be changed regularly. The general reason is that, first of all, the transmission oil will get dirty during use. For example, some worn debris will enter the transmission oil, making it dirty, discolored and blackened, and its performance will decrease. In addition, it may block the pipeline. In addition, even if it is not used or worn, it will deteriorate, degrade and oxidize over time, just like other oils. This is why there are two indicators for maintenance and oil change: time and mileage. If you run frequently, you have to change the mileage if you run more. If the mileage is less, you have to change it according to time, and the first one comes first. That's how it came about.
Say it one by one.
First of all, the structure of the manual gearbox is relatively simple, just some gears, so its gearbox oil is relatively simple, with the lowest quality requirements, low price and less fuel consumption, so the price cost of changing oil in the manual gearbox is the lowest.
Generally speaking, you can change the gearbox oil manually around 40,000 or 50,000 kilometers. It's not that strict. Don't wait too long. There will be no big impact in the later period. As long as you feel that the gear is not so smooth, you will know that you need to change the transmission oil. Generally, the oil quantity of manual gear is less, about three liters. Drain the old transmission oil directly and add a new one. Moreover, manual gear oil is not as demanding as automatic gear oil, as long as it is genuine, it is almost enough. My personal suggestion is to use the original factory, the price is not high, and the quality is guaranteed.
The second is the AT gearbox. Although none of our Tiggo cars have AT at present, there is no guarantee that there will be other brands and models of AT gearboxes at home. I will also talk about them.
The transmission oil quantity of AT gearbox is much larger than that of manual gearbox, generally around 10 liter. Maybe a few luxury cars will have as much as one or two liters of gearbox oil, which is basically rare.
AT gearbox oil is usually changed by kilometers, but if you run too little, you should change it by time. For example, if you run thousands of kilometers a year and run to 50,000 kilometers or 60,000 kilometers for ten years, the gearbox oil will definitely not be used for that long, and it has long been broken. If so, change it every three years, or it will remain unchanged for three and a half years. Don't delay it too long. For example, changing mileage, 60 thousand kilometers is definitely the best for you, but it doesn't mean that 60 thousand to 70 thousand will be broken if you don't change it. Not so absolute. In short, if you have enough money, it's definitely good to change it early. If you don't have enough money, it's no big deal to drag it to seven or eight thousand. Another reminder, if you change the oil earlier, for example, 60 thousand kilometers, you can change it directly. If the mileage exceeds a lot, it is better to change the switch. At the same time, the filter element of gearbox oil must be removed and replaced, because the mileage will be dirty if it is too long, and there will be safety hazards if it is not replaced. In addition, the filter element generally doesn't have much money, so it's not worth taking the risk to save such a little money.
In short, the sooner you change it, the safer it is, the better.
The third is CVT gearbox, which is used by Xinhu Automobile. Its gearbox oil requirement is a little higher than AT's, because it is a steel belt chain, and the oil requirement is higher. In addition, the unit price of CVT gearbox oil will be a little more expensive than AT, but the oil quantity of CVT will generally be a little less than AT, so the cost of comprehensive oil is not much different from AT. AT the same time, it is the same as AT gearbox. If there are fewer kilometers when changing oil, there is no need to switch. If there are more, it is safer to use switches.
Finally, the dual clutch gearbox is divided into dry dual clutch and wet dual clutch.
Chery's official suggestion to the dual-clutch gearbox is to change the gearbox oil for 60,000 kilometers, in which the wet dual-clutch gearbox will have more oil, because the dry clutch has no oil. This mileage is actually the same suggestion. Official standards are the safest. If you have enough money, you can't go wrong according to 6 1000. If you want to save some money, it is generally not a problem to drag 10 thousand kilometers, but it is best not to drag it for too long. The gearbox is not worth it. If the mileage is short, the oil change time is also recommended to be between three and four years.
By the way, I suggest you do this maintenance in a regular 4S shop, because it is a little more complicated than changing the oil, and the master needs to be familiar with the situation and structure of the car. Chery's 4S is more familiar and professional with Chery's car than outside, and the operation is less likely to go wrong. Otherwise, there will be problems when disassembling and assembling because of unfamiliarity or incorrect variety and quantity of oil.
One advantage of the dual clutch model is that it needs less gearbox oil and can save a little money, especially the dry dual clutch. The gearbox oil is the least, usually about seven or eight liters. Another reminder, you must change the filter element when changing the oil.
The above is the basic content. In short, there is only one point of view. We need to know what maintenance should be done and do it in time. Maintenance can be flexible and delayed, but it can't be delayed for too long, so the gearbox is too expensive if it breaks down.
