In order to further improve the safety and accuracy when undertaking the technical problems of the first domestic nitric acid four-in-one unit, Tang Zhenggang looked through the drawings of all units, carefully studied the structure of each unit, analyzed the factors affecting the alignment accuracy of the unit, and calculated the effects of oil film thickness, gear meshing force and thermal expansion on alignment theoretically and practically. In this regard, Tang Zhenggang put forward the application of "double table alignment technology" in the assembly of long shafting units. After patient debugging, the alignment of the unit completely meets the design requirements, the error is within 0.02 mm, and the assembly of the whole unit takes only 14 days, and the assembly accuracy is better than the design drawings. The first unit was successfully tested and put into use by users at one time.

On another occasion, when Tang Zhenggang participated in the new project of AV90 axial compressor jointly produced by Shaanxi Drum Group and Man Turbine Company, he served as the main operator and was responsible for the assembly task. Because of the new rotor blade structure, there is no domestic product and experience to learn from in bearing structure. Tang Zhenggang studied it carefully overnight and compared it with domestic bearings, and found out the installation and maintenance method of new bearings for Mann steam turbine. "The unit has been tested by foreign experts, and all technical indicators have met the design requirements, and the assembly efficiency has increased by 30%, which has been highly praised by German experts." Tang Zhenggang said happily.

Over the past 20 years, Tang Zhenggang has led the assembly and debugging of hundreds of large units, overcome more than 30 assembly technical problems and trained more than 20 young apprentices.
