Lu Opera, formerly known as "Daoqi Opera", is popular in Jianghuai area and Dabie Mountain area with Hefei as the center, including Lu 'an, Huainan, Chaohu, Chuzhou and Wuhu. The tunes of Lu Opera are fresh, simple and beautiful, which are deeply loved by local people.
Since the late Qing Dynasty, it has been popular in the Jianghuai area south of Huaihe River and north of Yangtze River in Anhui Province. Lu Opera originated in Huoshan, Dabie Mountain, and developed on the basis of folk songs in Dabie Mountain and songs and dances of Huaihe River Flower Drum Lantern, absorbing the vocals of gongs and drums, Duan Gong Opera and Heizi Opera.
