Generally speaking, islands can be divided into three categories. The first category is volcanic island. The typical feature is large, and the front is basically a mainland island. The last category is coral islands, such as Maldives, bikini, Marshall and so on, all of which are coral islands. Coral island originated from the life evolution of coral, and the calcium hard shell formed piled up into coral island. The typical feature of this kind of island is low level, which is often a large atoll with a lagoon in the middle, which is connected with the ocean by a gap and becomes a natural haven.
