Guiguzi was a master during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. According to legend, Su Qin and Zhang Yi, world-famous military strategists, were his disciples. They studied with him for eleven years, and later it became a big deal.

Guiguzi has his own unique views on human nature and society:

Since the formation of heaven and earth, there must be cracks and gaps in the development of all things, which must be explored.

This sentence actually contains a profound philosophy of materialist dialectics. The principle of Marxist philosophy points out that things are constantly advancing and developing in self-denial. The development of things is based on "sublation", that is, retaining and carrying forward their positive factors, abandoning and eliminating their negative factors.

Everything has cracks, which is the negative side of things. People who are good at discovering the shortcomings of things and overcoming them are far-sighted people.

For example, at the end of Shang Dynasty, when Zhou Wang first ascended the throne, he did not show his fatuous and tyrannical side. But once, Zhou Wang ordered people to make a pair of chopsticks out of ivory, and Zhou Wang's uncle Ji Zi saw this change.

Ministers were surprised, and Ji Zi explained, "Zhou Wang made chopsticks out of ivory, and he certainly wouldn't hold soup or rice in a clay pot. He will definitely make a cup made of rhinoceros horn and a rice bowl made of jade; With ivory chopsticks, rhinoceros horn cups and beautiful jade bowls, will you still eat humble meals with them? Zhou Wang's dining table must be filled with wine and food from now on; Eat wine and delicacies, wear silk and satin naturally, demand magnificent residence and build pavilions for fun. I shudder at the thought of such consequences! "

The minister and Zhou Wang didn't think so, thinking that he was just worrying. But before long, Zhou Wang really showed his true colors. He is arrogant and extravagant, and does all kinds of evil. After only five years, the Shang Dynasty was extinct.

It is precisely because of careful observation and careful thinking that Ji Zi saw the signs of tyranny and arrogance in the future, and saw the crack of Shang's subjugation through a pair of ivory chopsticks. This is the wisdom of Guiguzi, who is prepared for danger in times of peace and sees the big from the small.

If there are no loopholes and gaps in the world, and there are no gaps that can be blocked, then it will be hidden in the mountains and quietly wait for the opportunity. Once there are cracks and loopholes, you can plan how to stop them.

When Zhuge Liang was not reused by Liu Bei, he just lived in seclusion in Longzhong, burying his head in farming every day, just as he mentioned in the Teacher's Watch, "I was dressed in cloth and devoted myself to Nanyang, and I didn't ask Wen Da to be a vassal in troubled times."

However, is Zhuge Liang really prepared to live in seclusion for life?

Not exactly. Looking at the article "Longzhong Dui", we can know that he is very concerned about the dynamics of the world situation and knows it like the back of his hand. Zhuge Liang saw the "rift" between the heroes at that time, but he knew that the time was not yet ripe, so he temporarily lived in seclusion in Longzhong to avoid chaos. Later, I met Liu Bei who had been taking care of him. He knew that he had to meet this wise master to show his great future, so he naturally went out to help Liu, and he was indeed Zhuge Liang, who was called "Wolong".

When saints see cracks in things, they will take corresponding measures to deal with them. If the world can still be saved, take measures to make up for the loopholes in the world; If you see the crack expanding irretrievably, you should take its place.

For example, Yi Yin, an ancient sage, assisted several emperors and was tyrannical when Tai Jia proclaimed himself emperor. So Yi Yin demoted the emperor to Tonggong and took charge of state affairs himself. Three years later, Tai Jia remoulded and repented, so Yi Yin welcomed Tai Jia back to the palace and let him continue to be emperor.

Seeing that Taijia was a plastic talent, Yi Yin thought Taijia could be saved, so he tried his best to make the emperor repent and mend the cracks.

At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Chen Sheng, Guangwu, Liu Bangxiang and others rose up, knowing that the "rift" of the Qin Dynasty could not be made up, and they were terminally ill, and they embarked on the road of rebellion without hesitation, catering to the wishes of the people all over the world, and severely attacked Qin without mercy, conforming to the development of historical trends.

Gui Guzi's view of "cracks" in everything is still out of date today, but it is very novel and interesting, which can provide more reference for our work and life.
