However, the ax of being a cultural person often falls into the hands of some illiterate heroes. The two most famous ones are Cheng Yaojin in "The Romance of Sui and Tang Dynasties" and the other in "The Romance of Sui and Tang Dynasties". Li Kui in "Water Margin".

After Cheng Yaojin and You Junda became sworn sworn friends, You Junda started to teach Yao Jin martial arts. Unfortunately, Cheng Yaojin learned and lost it faster. You Junda was so helpless. Unexpectedly, one night, You Junda suddenly found Cheng Yaojin in the yard, using a bench as a horse and holding a big ax, performing an amazing set of kung fu.

You Junda shouted, but Cheng Yaojin turned over and fell to the ground. Then he snored like thunder and fell asleep. After he woke up and asked, he realized that Cheng Yaojin was dreaming just now. There was a person in the dream. I was teaching him martial arts, but now I have almost forgotten all of it. I can only think of three axes, named: splitting the head, picking the teeth, and picking out the ears.

Later, after processing by storytelling artists, new situations emerged. The three axes became three and a half axes, and the names were changed to more popular ones: splitting the forehead, pricking the eyes, shaving ribs and chopping hammer. ...But whether it is three axes or three and a half axes, it is obvious that Cheng Yaojin has made the ax a weapon that has gained a lot of glory.

Subsequently, Cheng Yaojin relied on these three axes to create the "Three Axes Dingwa Gang", and later became Emperor Duan, which added a lot of legend to the axe. Therefore, when Ax met Cheng Yaojin, it not only enriched the cultural heritage, but also became legendary and very powerful.

As the saying goes, "Comparison leads to superiority." The ax was extremely powerful in the hands of Cheng Yaojin, but what about in the hands of Li Kui? It should be noted that Li Kui was nicknamed Black Whirlwind in Water Margin, which is astonishing! So if we want to compare, we must talk about Li Kui.

2. The ax meets Li Kui

The first thing to explain is that Li Kui used a double-blade ax, which is different from Cheng Yaojin's mountain-breaking ax. Li Kui's double-blade ax is a weapon for generals on foot, while the mountain ax is a weapon for generals on horseback.

Li Kui, like Cheng Yaojin, is also illiterate, but this does not prevent him from running rampant in the Water Margin! The most famous battle involving Li Kuiti's double ax was to rob the court to save Song Jiang. At that time, all the heroes from Liangshan led by Chao Gai also came to rescue Song Jiang.

When the local soldiers were eager to grab their spears, who could stop him..." This description is more refined and exciting, and the image of Li Kui's bravery and invincibility is ready to emerge. If we had stopped here, it would have attracted a lot of applause, but unfortunately there is still more to come...

"Chao Gai then asked the two minions who were carrying Song Jiang and Dai Zong to follow the big black man. Then he went to the cross street. Mouth, regardless of officers and civilians, they killed corpses everywhere, blood flowed into canals, and countless people were overthrown..."

I must have read this description, and many people will be disgusted. Heart, even the god Li Kui would not approve of it, because he "killed without caring about the officers and people, killing corpses everywhere", and the same is true for the editor.

But he was disgusted with Li Kui's actions, but he also refused to admit that the combat effectiveness of a weapon like an ax in Li Kui's hands was much more powerful than that in Cheng Yaojin's hands!

If Cheng Yaojin’s contribution to the ax once again enhanced its cultural heritage, then Li Kui fully demonstrated the astonishing destructive power and lethality of the ax, which is equivalent to the two of them. From this aspect, the weapon such as ax is explained.

3. Song Jiang’s words determine the level of success

Weapons are rarely left behind by heroes or warriors, especially when doing things. Besides being illiterate, Cheng Yaojin and Li Kui had one thing in common, which was filial piety.

Let’s look at Cheng Yaojin first. There was a passage in "Romance of the Sui and Tang Dynasties". After Cheng Yaojin returned to Wagang Mountain, his mother disappeared, and You Junda informed: Your mother is accompanying Qin Qiong. When my mother and daughter-in-law went to meet relatives, they were deceived into Chang'an City by Li Shimin. They were probably in bad luck.

Cheng Yaojin was stunned for a long time, and then shouted: "That's it, you damned thief, you plan to kill your family like this! Let's leave this life to him!" In order to save my mother, Cheng Yaojin Jin held an ax and threw himself into Chang'an, only to have a false alarm.

There is a similar description in Water Margin. Li Kui saw Song Jiang taking his father to Liangshan to enjoy the blessings, and he also wanted to take his mother to Liangshan. At this time, Song Jiang said something and put forward three conditions: "First. One thing, go back and don't eat wine; the second thing, because you are impatient and no one is willing to go with you, you just quietly take your mother's bed; the third thing, don't use the two axes you made. Take it with you, be careful on the way, go early and come back early."

These three conditions seem to be for Li Kui's benefit, but in fact they are very complicated, especially the third one, which does not allow Li Kui to bring double axes! The reason is that when he rescued Song Jiang, Li Kui killed many people with his double axe. Who doesn't know the black whirlwind? Therefore, this ax exposes Li Kui's identity, so he cannot carry it.

But the problem is, how can the weapons of a hero or a general be taken away from him at a critical moment? In "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Dian Wei had to use other weapons to protect Cao Cao because his two halberds were stolen, and he died in the battle. Li Kui was going down the mountain to pick up his mother, and he needed a pair of axes to escort him and protect his mother...
