The little Chinese doctor said: How should beginners learn Chinese medicine? It is not recommended to read books such as the Huangdi Neijing

I went to a friend’s house a few days ago and saw books on his bookshelf such as The Yellow Emperor’s Internal Classic and Treatise on Febrile Diseases. I was surprised, aren’t you studying finance?

He said that as he got older, he wanted to learn Chinese medicine to maintain his health.

Do you understand me?

He said he couldn’t understand it, but didn’t everyone say that to learn Chinese medicine, one must read the Huangdi Neijing.

What I want to say is that if you don’t have basic knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, don’t read books like the Huangdi Neijing.

Let me talk about it based on my own reality.

I haven’t read the Huangdi Neijing much since I started working. Even when I was studying, I only read it twice. Do you understand? Many people don’t.

As for typhoid fever and the Golden Chamber, I have memorized the articles. I can recite them but I can’t use them.

Therefore, for beginners, I do not recommend reading these books. The meaning of the book will be obvious after reading it a hundred times. I think it is completely nonsense without practice.

But we have to thank those famous old Chinese medicine doctors. Their experience has helped us become some excellent Chinese medicine doctors.

Therefore, I have read a lot of academic thoughts, clinical experiences, medical records and other words of traditional Chinese medicine since a long time ago. I never feel that my medical skills are worse than those traditional Chinese medicine doctors who know the Huangdi Neijing by heart.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand Treatise on Febrile Diseases. We can read Hao Wanshan’s lectures on Treatise on Febrile Diseases, which can be found on many websites. I have read them five or six times, and I personally feel good about them.

It’s okay if you don’t understand Jingui. It’s also good to read Hu Xishu’s explanation of Jingui. However, some recordings are missing, but only a very small part.

Of course, some of Dr. Huang Huang’s books can also be used as references and are also very good to read.

I personally read a lot of the three books on six diseases written by Dr. Liu Shaowu, which are quite good.

What I read about Huangdi Neijing is the Comprehensive Study of Huangdi Neijing edited by Wang Hongtu. It has more than several thousand pages. I read more than two pages. Did I gain anything? To be honest, I didn’t gain much.

Later I will look at the experience and academic experience of various traditional Chinese medicine doctors. These are the essence of their clinical practice for decades. Learning something is a very valuable asset. These are actually derived from the Huangdi Neijing. So looking at their experiences is like reading the Huangdi Neijing.

There are so many books on traditional Chinese medicine. I think learning from experience first is enough. I don’t need to read other ancient books. On the one hand, I can’t understand them. On the other hand, I guess some of them have been copied over and over again and may not be accurate. .

When I was in college, I was once named and praised for no reason, because I read sixty or seventy Chinese medicine books in one semester, such as Jingyue Complete Book, Rejuvenation of All Diseases, etc., and I read hundreds of pages. , I usually finish reading it in two or three days.

Of course, criticism followed, and I missed more than 200 classes in one semester.

However, I can personally recommend a few books, including Medical Records of Zhongzhongshenxilu and Qin Bowei's Complete Works. These books are very good.

Some people will recommend books by the four great masters of the Jin and Yuan Dynasties. It’s not bad. I personally still highly recommend the Butu School, but the question is, do you understand the ancient texts? Nowadays, the experience of many famous doctors has their shadow. Wouldn’t it be more interesting to read modern literature?

There are also people who admire Huang Yuanyu. I personally admire it very much. The four elements of the earth axis flow in one direction. I will take it into consideration when making prescriptions, but few people talk about it. I I remember a gentleman named Zi He said that it was not bad.

I haven’t studied Huang Yuanyu’s books deeply, and I can’t say anything new. If there is a good teacher, he can explain it to us. I have read all his books, and I think they are reasonable. Oh, its meaning is broad. It would be best if we have an enlightenment teacher to teach us. Hao Wanshan's Treatise on Febrile Diseases is good because it is combined with clinical practice. Nowadays, many people teach some courses very well, but when it comes to clinical practice, the wise will tell.

Let’s talk about the Fuyang School. I also pay more attention to Yang Qi because I myself have a Yang deficiency. When I was a kid, I got sick every now and then. At that time, I went to the clinic and gave you a pack of medicine. I didn’t know what kind of medicine it was. Anyway, it usually took two or three days to get better. So my parents thought that the doctors at that clinic were very good. If you had a cold, fever, cough, etc., they would go there. deliver. Now that I am a doctor, I think I must have used a lot of hormones. So my physique is still weak now.

My understanding of the Fuyang Sect started when I read Thinking about Traditional Chinese Medicine written by Liu Lihong. That book made me aware of the Vulcan Sect. Later I will read Zheng Qin'an's True Biography of Medical Principles. The medical methods are comprehensive and you can understand this book. It is well written and I can still recommend it. Of course, you can also read Li Ke's books. There are not many books written, but they are all good clinical experiences. Who said that traditional Chinese medicine cannot treat serious diseases and emergencies? It's just that now all the rules and regulations are trapped.

For the study of febrile disease, you can read what Zhao Shaoqin said. In fact, many of the prescriptions used now are also those of the febrile disease school. Sanren Decoction, Ganlu Disinfectant Pill, etc. are often used clinically.

Now I would like to recommend another set of books, Advanced Traditional Chinese Medicine Series, People's Medical Publishing House, 1999. This set of books is very good. But it took me five years to read this set of books.

There seems to be a name mentioned in traditional Chinese medicine, called Ni Haixia. I have read his Chronicles of People and Chronicles series. Some people say he is a liar, and some people say he is a famous doctor. From my personal understanding, some of his ideas and theories are a bit biased, but he is still a respectable doctor. Some of his academic thoughts make me Some inspiration. It's just a pity that many of his recipes have not been published, otherwise we could have studied them carefully.

Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture are even more worthy of recommendation. I remember when I was in graduate school, I had a cough. I originally wanted to take cefuroxime axetil, but there was an acupuncture doctor I knew at that time. He said that I should try acupuncture. He was cured with medicine.

At that time, I felt that acupuncture was good, so I started to pick up acupuncture books again. Nowadays, many prescribing Chinese medicine doctors don’t know acupuncture, and many acupuncture doctors don’t know dialectics, so I think they are no longer qualified Chinese medicine doctors. Traditional Chinese medicine is based on syndrome differentiation and treatment. In many cases, the effect of acupuncture can cure the disease.

What acupuncture books do you recommend? Acupuncture is really popular now, with long needles, short needles, silver needles, gold needles, etc. I even saw hundreds of needles stuck in one palm. , is this acupuncture?

Shouldn’t acupuncture be the same as prescription? After syndrome differentiation and treatment, only a few can cure the disease.

As for acupuncture books, I still recommend the two books on acupuncture and acupuncture therapy from the set of books I recommended just now.

I don’t use other acupuncture and moxibustion very much, such as Dong’s acupuncture. It’s hard to judge the effect. I have used umbilical acupuncture a few times to treat insomnia. I won’t talk about other holographic diagnosis methods, balanced acupuncture, etc., as I have never used them and have little experience. I can let an acupuncture teacher explain this.

Massage, cupping, bone setting, and scraping are all good and are now available in health care stores. It’s actually better to learn a little by yourself.

In my home, I have silver needles and moxa sticks, as well as a series of things for acupoint application. I can also make pills and ointments. Some cupping machines on the Internet are also good. I bought two for my family. My parents also bought some massage therapy machines. But you have to be able to use them. If you don’t know how to use them, you might as well spend money to find someone to do them.

I can tell you something about this. I remember there was a physiotherapy center near my parents’ house. It cost more than 100 to do it. My parents really liked it and said the effect was very good. I once Picking up my parents was all basic stuff. So if you learn it, you can actually start your own business.

When learning Chinese medicine, you also need to talk about exercises to strengthen your body. I use Li Shaobo’s Qi movement method. There are videos on the Internet. I think it’s okay, but don’t be too obsessed or superstitious. Adapted Wu Qin Xi and the like, it is still possible to coordinate with the breathing. If you don’t know how to move the Qi, it is not bad to learn Wu Qin Xi.

Finally, I would like to add three points. First, many of the academic thoughts of some Chinese medicine practitioners were written by his students. Of course, I also helped write them myself, so these academic thoughts are also mixed with the academic thoughts of his students. , you need to distinguish right from wrong when watching. For example, a paper I wrote for my tutor was actually more of my academic thoughts.

Traditional Chinese medicine is also advancing with the times, so read more literature. Literature review costs money. You can buy an account online to take a look. I won’t go into details about this. Anyone who knows it will understand.

The third point is to practice more. If others dare not, practice it for yourself or your relatives and friends. If you have a boyfriend, just tell me if you love me. If you love me, let me try acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Some people will say that acupuncture is dangerous. As long as it is disinfected, there will generally be no problems. Of course it is better to have a teacher. As for traditional Chinese medicine, you need to remember the incompatibility and incompatibility, and of course some of them cannot be trusted.

I won’t say much about this. After all, safety should be the first priority for beginners
