Cedar has a rich sound, strong viscosity, softness and warmth. American (Korean pine in the west) and Canadian (Cedar in Ingermann) are the best, with high density, beautiful and meticulous wood grain, soft and easy to process, which is the first choice for many guitar makers (easy to process and shape ...). Representative brand: Greg. Smallman, Kenny. Hill, Takamine, the king of recording.

Rear side panel:

Indian rosewood Indian rosewood has high density, atmospheric appearance and good sound reflectivity. Wood commonly used in guitar backboard, whether classical guitar or folk guitar, can often be seen. Due to the high price of Brazilian rosewood, Indian rosewood is the most commonly used material to make the back panel of guitar in the world. The same type is Madagascar rosewood, but the price is slightly higher.

Brazilian rosewood has high density, beautiful color and natural sandalwood fragrance. The sound reflection is first-class, it is difficult to buy, and the price is extremely high. It is the first choice for the back panel of high-grade and concert-level classical guitars. This kind of wood is rarely used on folk guitars because the sound is too soft and aggressive.

Cocobarro cocoboro, Brazilian rosewood, is an excellent substitute for Brazilian rosewood. The disadvantage is that the sound is not rich enough, and the advantage is the extremely dazzling and gorgeous wood grain, which can be regarded as a work of art with aesthetic feeling. The quality of Coco Barrow is between Brazilian rosewood and Indian rosewood, and the price is relatively expensive. Widely used in folk guitars (because of its bright tone).

Walnut Ovengkol, as a good substitute for expensive rosewood, has bright voice and full personality. It is mainly used for the back panel of middle and high-grade classical guitars and the back panel of high-grade folk guitars, with beautiful wood grain.

Peach and big leaves are generally used for the backboard of low-end classical guitars and the neck material of high-end guitars. However, there are many advanced folk guitars in the world that choose first-class quality mahogany as the main backboard material. Mahogany has warm low-frequency timbre and loud high-frequency timbre. Compared with rosewood guitar, it may not be feminine but it is definitely full of personality, and the wood grain of mahogany is also beautiful.

Spanish cedar is extremely rare wood, and now only the most traditional flamenco guitar in Spain can be used. There are also some cutting-edge piano makers in Europe who will use the technology of 100 years ago to make classical guitars with cedar backboards, but the price is very high. It is a kind of good wood that can be met but not sought.

Maple is widely used in the backboard of classical guitars and flamenco guitars. The reason why I put it at the end of the backboard material is mainly because of the "contradiction" of this wood. The price of high-grade maple is even much higher than that of rose wood of the same grade, but maple is not the most "suitable" wood for guitar. Maple can be used as the backboard material of classical guitar and flamenco guitar. Its timbre is bright and calm, with excellent penetration, but weak sustain and poor low-frequency vibration. But the guitar made of maple is excellent in treble, crisp and grainy, and suitable for playing some lively tunes. Maple has basically no dense wood grain, so it is very average aesthetically.

Fingerboard:

Ebony advanced guitar must have fingerboard material, natural black, wood is very hard, wood is rich in oil, which can ensure a good feel.

Indian rosewood rosewood is often used in the fingerboard of guitar, but it is not high-grade. Generally used on low-end guitars. The wood is hard, which can effectively ensure that the fingerboard is not deformed and feels ordinary.

Neck:

Mahogany big leaves have also been introduced before. Mahogany is a very strong hardwood, and the neck used to make the guitar can effectively prevent the guitar from deforming. At the same time, the attractive wood grain of mahogany makes every part of the guitar look very like a work of art.

The neck material of Spanish Korean pine Espain cedar, which is rarely used now, is very precious.

Compared with mahogany and Korean pine, the wood of nanmu is much worse, but it can still be found in the necks of many guitars, especially most guitars of Yamaha, which will choose this wood as the main material of the neck, even the back side plate.

The wood of a good guitar is generally made of these materials. As for timbre, timbre varies greatly because of different wood combinations.
