Heat shrink film tutorial that you can know at a glance

I have recently become obsessed with heat shrinkable film, so I am going to give you a brief tutorial.

Heat shrinkable film tutorial, of course, you must first have heat shrinkable film. Heat-shrinkable sheets have smooth and matte sides. If you buy a smooth one, you need to sand it yourself, because the smooth side is not easy to draw on. Of course, most of the ones sold on the market are smooth on one side and rough on the other, so you don’t have to polish it yourself.

There are many colors of heat shrinkable film. You can choose according to your own preferences. I personally prefer translucent and white.

The hot air gun is mainly used to heat the heat shrinkable sheet to shrink it and form it.

For those who have an oven at home, a heat gun is not a necessity, but to be honest, I think it is very convenient to have a heat gun, and it is also quite safe, but you still have to be careful when using it. Blow into hand.

To draw on heat-shrinkable film, you can choose colored pencils or watercolors or other tools, but I think colored pencils are relatively easier.

The first time I applied color, I used watercolor, but the results told me that translucency cannot be applied at all. White is better, and colored pencils will not have this trouble.

The purpose of the hole punch is to punch holes in the pattern of the heat shrink sheet you have drawn, just for putting on key chains or hanging chains. Of course, if you are making earrings or brooches, you don’t need to drill holes.

Everyone knows the function of scissors, which is to cut, cut, cut.

This is a perforated rope. There are various kinds. You can choose according to your preference.

This is a tool used in the last step. Since glue A and glue B need to be mixed at a ratio of 3:1, the needles are used to suck the glue separately, so do not mix them.

This is to be dropped on the painted side of the formed heat shrink film. On the one hand, it is to protect the picture, and on the other hand, it is bright and beautiful.

Since you need to wait for about 20 minutes after the glue is prepared, we first mix the AB glue at a ratio of 3:1. After all the glue is dropped into a small measuring cup, we use a cotton swab or the like to stir the glue. In about 2 minutes, everyone will see bubbles, so at this time we will let it idle for about 20 minutes.

While the glue is waiting, we can draw the pattern we like on the heat shrink film. We can find materials online or create our own.

After drawing, you can color the pattern with your favorite color.

After the color is drawn, you can punch holes above the pattern or elsewhere, and then use scissors to cut it down according to the outer outline. Of course, you can leave the edges or not at this step.

These are a few patterns I made together because I didn’t want to waste the prepared glue, hahahahaha.

For this step, you can find a carton or cup. When you blow the heat-shrinkable film with a heat gun, the heat-shrinkable film will run around, but it will stop running around when you put it in the carton. This will always be right. Even if you blow it, you won't get it.

During the blowing process, the heat shrinkable film will curl up in various ways. Don’t worry, no matter how you roll it, it will eventually unfold. Don’t touch it with your hands. Another point is that after blowing, you can use a flat object to press the heat shrinkable sheet to make its surface smoother.

The main purpose of this step is to show everyone the size ratio between the reduced image and the original image, which is about 1/3.

The last step is to apply glue.

When we have almost completed the above steps, it is time to glue. We use a cotton swab to apply water to the formed heat shrinkable sheet, on the side we painted, and we must also pay attention to the glue. Sticky to hands.

After the glue is applied, you can put them in a box or carton and cover them, mainly to prevent dust. Then leave them for 24 hours and the glue will dry completely.

After the glue is completely dry, you can put on the rope you like, and the beautiful heat shrinkable film pattern is completed.

You can choose to use it as a hanging chain, a trinket, or as a gift to a friend. The important thing is that you will have a small sense of accomplishment after seeing the results.

This is the end of the simple tutorial. You are welcome to communicate with me. Of course, if there is anything you don’t understand, you can ask me.
