In China, liberal arts students face difficulties in finding jobs. This situation has a lot to do with the social structure of our country. Generally speaking, the demand for liberal arts students in our society is far less than the supply of colleges and universities, and there is a big gap between the cultivation of liberal arts and the actual employment demand in our country. The mismatch between supply and demand and the market has caused the plight of liberal arts students.

First, liberal arts are conducive to entering the system, but the demand outside the system is limited.

Of course, the best way for liberal arts students to find jobs is to enter the system. According to the data published by state organs every year, they are classified according to job requirements. Liberal arts majors rank first, and the top four are accounting, economics, law and Chinese language and literature. According to online statistics, 70% of civil servants require liberal arts majors, and liberal arts students are more likely to enter the system.

Many people take the example that the third and fourth generations of leading bodies are all science students, but that is more due to historical reasons, because after the founding of the People's Republic of China, science is more important than literature, and there are fewer liberal arts majors. After the reform and opening up, liberal arts began to increase. With the advancement of the four modernizations of cadres, the social science level of China officials is getting higher and higher, so many officials will make up a master's degree in arts even if their undergraduate degree is not liberal arts. With the rise of a new generation of cadres, the proportion of social science majors will be higher and higher.

Therefore, liberal arts have an advantage in entering the system. Many people are admitted to liberal arts majors in order to enter the system.

However, the employment that the system can solve is limited after all, and China has been streamlining its institutions, even if the enrollment expansion is often a stopgap measure. It is totally unrealistic to hope that the system can solve the surplus of liberal arts students.

Outside the system? Unfortunately, the domestic demand for liberal arts students outside the system is limited, especially compared with the United States.

The United States is an elected society, and there is a huge demand for liberal arts majors. First of all, legislators, governors and presidents in American cities, States and the Federation all need elections, while politicians need teams to conduct elections. Every politician has a huge election team, some are responsible for conducting polls, some are responsible for public relations, and some are responsible for analyzing data. Small teams have hundreds of people, and large teams can even hire tens of thousands of people. There are a lot of elections in the United States, which have solved the employment problem.

In addition, the United States is still a country that emphasizes civil autonomy, so the non-profit organizations in the United States are very complicated. Non-profit organizations often involve charity, civil rights and environmental protection, which requires a large number of liberal arts students. In addition, the United States is a country that emphasizes justice, which makes the demand for lawyers extremely huge. In the United States, lawyers are not only numerous but also effective, and every lawsuit is profiteering. Lawyers and doctors are the most popular occupations in America.

There is a great demand for liberal arts in America.

Compared with the United States, China's non-profit organizations are underdeveloped (public management, social work and sociology are difficult to find employment), politically dominated by the administration, and the demand and treatment of lawyers are limited (legal employment is difficult). Moreover, there are not so many elections in China, and naturally there is no need for election teams and research institutions (political science is difficult to find employment, and communication is difficult to find employment). As for the media, most of our country is the official media, or the media within the system itself, and more is the media outside the system, but the liberal arts students from the media may not be dominant (why I will talk about this in the next issue), so the demand for liberal arts in China is limited.

Therefore, in fact, there are not too many liberal arts students in China, but too few jobs. Since there are not many jobs, we should reduce enrollment, but it is difficult to do so.

Second, it is difficult to find employment for liberal arts majors in two colleges.

If there is only one liberal arts major in our country, the society can barely meet it, but now many secondary colleges and junior colleges also offer liberal arts majors. The reason for setting up liberal arts majors is very simple, that is, the threshold for setting up liberal arts majors is low, and many science majors need to do experiments and need a lot of instruments and equipment. For the second and junior colleges, the funds are often not enough, but the liberal arts are different. As long as there is a classroom, you can recruit a few scholars to set it up, so easy.

It is for this reason that many two colleges and universities in China have set up a large number of liberal arts majors, but the problem is that they continue to expand their enrollment even though the social supply is already surplus, which undoubtedly makes the situation worse. Because of the large supply, many liberal arts positions require 985/2 1 1 or double first-class education, even the first degree, which directly blocks liberal arts students from two colleges.

In addition, some liberal arts majors lack core competence, such as various management categories. Management is a completely practical subject, and the ability is completely cultivated in work, which is not something that an ivory tower can learn at all. For example, human resource management, no graduate majoring in human resources can still engage in personnel. On the contrary, you can't get involved in technology if you engage in personnel.

In addition, liberal arts also has a feature that it requires a lot of reading and long-term accumulation, which is not taught by teachers and requires your own long-term efforts. Therefore, as long as many science students have the habit of reading classics (reading the right books instead of conspiracy theories), their liberal arts are likely to be better than those of liberal arts students. Most of my own social science knowledge is also learned by myself, and the teacher only guides the thinking. If science is not trained in specialized courses, I'm afraid it can only be reduced to.

The limited demand and the lack of core competence of some liberal arts majors are the reasons for the difficulty of liberal arts employment.
