His philosophical works such as "Popular Philosophy" and "Philosophy and Life" have guided countless people on the road to revolution. . Ai Siqi’s father, Li Yuegai, was a patriotic figure in the Yunnan Revolution of 1911 and served as the secretary-general of the Yunnan National Guard Army; Ai Siqi’s father’s younger brother, Li Yueji, was once known as “the number one musician in the country”; Ai Siqi’s The eldest brother Li Shengzhuang was an early underground member of the Communist Party of China. History

According to archaeological data, humans have been living here before the late Neolithic period.

In the early Ming Dynasty, the ancestors of several major surnames in today's Heshun stationed here with military positions, creating a new history in Heshun.

Yuzhou Pavilion

The Yuzhou Pavilion in the lotus pond in front of us was built by the villagers in memory of Mr. Cun Shusheng, the first principal of Heshun Yiqun Middle School and later the deputy school doctor of Yunnan University. The building embodies the fine tradition of docile people respecting teachers and respecting education.

In the pavilion, there is a stele with the name of the pavilion inscribed by Chu Tunan, former vice-member of the National People’s Congress.

Village entrance

The road entering the main village goes straight through the middle of the dam. It is named Shuanghong Bridge because it looks like a double rainbow. Ducks and geese play in the water under the bridge, and ancient dragons lie on the ground. It is a good place for people to go out in spring and enjoy the moon.

You can see from a distance that residents are still doing laundry at the laundry booth by the water.

Beside Shuanghong Bridge is Heshun Library, the country’s township library.

Heshun Library

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the "Xianxin Society", a progressive group that spread new ideas and new culture, appeared in Heshun; in 924, the overseas Chinese in Heshun organized the "Chongxin Society" Association", founded progressive publications, and established the "Book Reading and Newspaper Club" in the hometown. In 1928, with the joint efforts of overseas Chinese and locals in Myanmar, the "Yue Shu Newspaper Society" was expanded into a library and moved to the Hanjing Hall, the former site of "Xianxin Society". Enthusiastic people donated books enthusiastically, so that the collection of the library continued to increase. With the continuous expansion of the scale, with the support of overseas Chinese in Myanmar, the old building was demolished in 1938 and a new building with a combination of Chinese and Western styles was built. Li Renjie, the president of Reading Newspaper Club, Li Shengzhuang, Ai Siqi's brother, and Cun Shusheng, an educator, served as presidents successively.

The library was flourishing. It not only collected books and borrowed books and newspapers, but also broadcast news through the radio. The mimeographed newspaper "Three Days News" was founded, becoming the earliest newspaper in Tengchong. During the Anti-Japanese War, in order to disseminate major news to the public as quickly as possible, the three-day magazine was changed to a daily magazine, which contributed to the propaganda of resisting Japan and saving the country.

The door of Heshun Library is condescending. The large black-backed gold plaque hanging on the door is the name of the library "Heshun Library" inscribed by Liao Chengzhi, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

The second door is a three-hole Western-style iron door built after the facade of the original Soochow University in Suzhou. On it are "Heshun Library" inscribed by Mr. Hu Shi, "Cultural Tianjin" inscribed by Mr. Li Shizeng, and "Heshun Library" inscribed by the mathematician Xiong Qinglai. There are plaque inscriptions such as "Fountain of People's Wisdom".

Walking into this quiet and quiet garden, the half-pavilion cloister-style two-story building in front of you is the main building of the library, which has a history of nearly 70 years. This is a Chinese-style building with two floors and five cells each. The second and fourth cells extend out to form a hexagonal pavilion. The entire roof truss has fewer columns and more beams. The four walls are elegantly painted, and the interior is bright and transparent.

Behind the main building is the library building completed in 1998. The building is an all-steel concrete antique span-eaves style two-story building. The completion of this building has further improved the library's book storage and capacity.

The Heshun Library is rich in ancient and modern books and local documents, including a complete set of Tripitaka, "Sheng'an Complete Works", hundreds of volumes of "Yingwudian Series", and nearly a thousand volumes of "Sibu Series" , in addition, there are many rare and rare ancient books, especially the Qing Dynasty woodcut editions, which are truly worthy of the word "treasure collection". The library currently has a collection of more than 70,000 books, ranking first in China's rural cultural field.

This is the original library. The lock on the door, the seal on the desk, the clock, and the iron fences of the two front doors were all purchased from Myanmar by Heshun overseas Chinese in the early days of the establishment of the library. Many newspapers and periodicals and daily life Specimens and large series of books such as "Wanyou Wenku" were all delivered from Shanghai via Myanmar via sea. How difficult it was to do when transportation was extremely underdeveloped at that time. This shows that the Heshun people "know more about etiquette when they are rich" and their persistent pursuit of culture.

A solid cultural foundation has given birth to talented people. There are many celebrities in Heshun Township, such as Li Rigai, a member of the League, a veteran of the Revolution of 1911, and former secretary-general of the First Army of the Yunnan National Defense Army; Cun Shusheng, a famous educator in Central Yunnan and vice president of Yunnan University; and Chinese philosophy Ai Siqi et al. After visiting the library, we followed the road on the right, passing Wenchang Palace, and now we came to the Yunnan-Burma Anti-Japanese War Museum.

The Yunnan-Burma Anti-Japanese War Museum

This is the former site of the headquarters of the 20th Group Army of the Chinese Expeditionary Force. The War of Resistance in Yunnan and Burma was an important part of the anti-fascist war. It was the first battle by the Chinese people to drive the Japanese invaders out of the country since the Opium War in 1840.

This is my country’s first privately funded and privately collected museum with the theme of the Anti-Japanese War.

It was completed and opened on July 7, 2005. It has a collection of more than 6,000 cultural relics and more than 1,000 old photos, recreating the history of the Chinese Expeditionary Force and the Chinese Army in India and the American and British Allied Forces to annihilate the Japanese invaders.

Now along the country roads paved with volcanic stones, let’s visit ancient houses together.

Folk residences

Heshun people live close to the mountains and rivers. The first people who came here to shovel grass and build villages and cultivate fields on the border were Cun, Liu, Li, Yin and Jia. Later, other surnames such as Zhang, Yang, Zhao, Xu, and Chuan entered. People with various surnames live in different clans, forming many lanes from top to bottom along the mountain. Each lane has a main gate, which is called "Lv Gate" in ancient times. A platform was built opposite the gate, and evergreen trees such as banyan and camphor trees were planted. Stone tables and benches were set up under the trees for people to rest in the shade. Some platforms also have screen walls built around them to protect them from feng shui.

The relatively large-scale ancient residences in Heshun are all in the Qing Dynasty architectural style, which is inseparable from the economic and cultural prosperity of Heshun after the middle of the Qing Dynasty. The ancient residences here include "three squares and one screen wall", "siheyuan", "four in one with five patios", etc. In modern times, there are also some buildings with a combination of Chinese and Western walls. These houses are not only exquisitely designed and beautifully carved, but what is particularly distinctive is that they are all made of volcanic stone with tall and solid stone feet. Although no cement is used, they have not deformed for hundreds of years.

Wanlouzi

Now we have come to "Wanlouzi", one of the Heshun residential buildings. Why is it called this name? Its walls are built along the curve of the lane, so people vividly call it a "curved building". It is the name of the Li family who founded the multinational company "Yongmao" during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. People in Tengchong used to talk about the richest local merchants. Just say "Dongdongxidongwanlouzi", which shows that "Yongmao" has strong capital and long operating history.

Now it has been turned into a folk residence museum. The first courtyard is an exhibition of the owner’s family history, the second courtyard is an exhibition of Heshun folk residence culture, and a folk residence hotel is attached to the backyard, which can provide elegant accommodation for tourists who want to stay in Heshun. An unworldly place to stay.

Laundry pavilions

Now we see these laundry pavilions with a Jiangnan water town style. There are one at every other section along the gentle river. They were the "Zouyi" in those days. "Fang" men built it for women who stayed at home to be filial to their parents-in-law and raise their children, and to shelter them from wind and rain while doing laundry and vegetables.

Now we go along the stone road beside the village to visit the Liu Clan Ancestral Hall.

Liu Clan Ancestral Hall

There are eight ancestral halls in Heshun: Cun, Liu, Li, Yin, Jia, Zhang, Chuan and Yang. They are ancestral halls for the eight surnames of Heshun. The architectural styles are different and the construction times are different. Most of them are magnificent and antique. Liu's Ancestral Hall is one of the more representative places.

The Liu Ancestral Hall was built in the fifth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1856). Although it has gone through a century and a half of vicissitudes, it still remains intact.

In front of the ancestral hall is a half-moon-shaped lotus pond. There is a double L stone bridge on the pond leading directly to the platform. There is an exquisite archway-style gate on the platform. Entering the ancestral hall, there are the hall, side rooms and main hall in sequence. The main hall is the place where the ancestor of Zhaoteng is worshiped and is extremely solemn and solemn.

In the past, ancestral halls belonged to one clan and one surname, but now, its significance has far exceeded its original scope and has become an important place to display Heshun architectural culture and folk culture. In front is Heshun's Shuidi Village, formerly known as Jiaoxi Village. It was renamed because of the installation of a water mill. The village is not big, but it is famous because it not only has charming scenery, but also produced a generation of philosopher Ai Siqi.

Longtan and Yuanlong Pavilion

This pool of clear water is called "Longtan", surrounded by mountains on three sides and a dike on one side. The bottom of the pool is crystal clear, and on the platform outside the pool, tall ancient banyan trees and camphor trees have lush branches and leaves.

Speaking of the origin of this pool of green water, there was no such deep pool here before. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, springs suddenly gushed out at the foot of the mountain, and the violent water suddenly flooded Heshun Bazi. Local people thought it was the "Dragon God" appearing, so they held a massive "Dragon Picking" event.

At the same time, a dam was built to store water into a pond, named "Longtan", and then Yuanlong Pavilion was built beside the pond.

Yuanlong Pavilion is backed by green mountains and faces green water. It rises successively. It consists of Shanmen, Sanguan Hall, Kuixing Pavilion, Guanyin Hall, etc. It has an ingenious conception and compact structure.

There is a couplet on the pillars on both sides of the main building "Kuixing Pavilion": "The essence contains the dipper, the dragon veins shine through the sky", which means the dragon head in the world. This is the name of "Yuanlong Pavilion" The origin of.

Former Residence of Ai Siqi

This is the former residence of Marxist philosopher Ai Siqi. It is a courtyard house that combines Chinese and Western elements, simple and elegant. The high-rise courtyard is decorated with railings and Western-style balconies. The former residence faces Yuanlong Pond in front and Fengshan Mountain in the back. The terrain is high and open, and the environment is beautiful.

The former residence was built in the eighth year of the Republic of China (1919 AD). It was a new residence built by Ai Siqi's father Li Rigai when he was the director of the Yunnan Department of Civil Affairs and Justice and the Superintendent of Minerals. The building area is 932 square meters, consisting of a living room, bedroom, study room, garden, etc.

There is a plaque of "Ai Siqi Memorial Hall" hanging on the gate. This screen has eight characters inscribed by Mao Zedong to Ai Siqi: "Scholar, Soldier, and Sincere Person." Upstairs is an exhibition of Ai Siqi's life and deeds, downstairs some of Ai Siqi's manuscripts and supplies are displayed, and there are many inscriptions by famous people in the lounge.

Heshun people practice a life that is also Confucianism, business, farming, and animal husbandry. This is the spiritual home that modern people yearn for. Perhaps the charm of Heshun lies in this.
