Liao Ji's Folk Stories
According to legend, there was a family named Liao in Orange Garden Village at the foot of Maling (now Lingling) in Lingshui County of Ming Dynasty. The host is honest, helpful, diligent in farming and likes hunting in his spare time.
One day, Liao Gong went hunting in the mountains with a hound familiar with human nature. In the past, Maling was majestic and steep, with towering old trees and a variety of rare and precious game. I was unlucky that day and didn't see any prey. Unconsciously, Liao Gong has climbed to the highest peak in the mountains, the first pointed ridge. On the ridge, there is a protruding boulder, and there is a big slate lying flat below. There are two stone arches on the left and right. Looking ahead, I can see the sea view of the Shenzhou Peninsula. Liao Gong felt a little backache because he was old, so he lay under the stone house and had a rest for a while, but he never woke up after a sleep. The hounds who followed him for many years licked Liao Gong's face with their tongues, but nothing happened. They grabbed the skirt with their claws and didn't respond. They were so anxious that they turned around and hurried home.
At the sight of his house, the hounds jumped and barked, pulling his trouser legs with their teeth to lead the way. The family is surrounded by Liao Gong, and they know it's not good. Unfortunately, it was getting late and the mountain road was difficult to walk, so the whole family had to spend the night in panic and anxiety.
The next day, before dawn, relatives and friends climbed several peaks under the guidance of hunting dogs and came to the stone house in the first pointed ridge. Suddenly, they were shocked by what they saw. They only saw a large group of ants moving earth to bury Liao Gong's body, but the familiar and calm face was bare. When the family was sad and excited, someone cried and said that he would take his body home.
"Don't! It may be providence that Liao Gong died here. Let's let it be buried on the spot. " An elder quickly stopped him and said, "A Feng Shui master once found our Maling Mountains lifelike and magnificent, so he stayed here. One day, he finally found a hole of' Carp yue longmen' at the top of Maling Mountain, and quickly put the hookah in his hand as a mark, ready to leave it to his relatives. Who knows that the hookah later grew into a piece of raw bamboo, and both Feng Shui masters and disciples sighed that God did not return, saying that Maling was the treasure house of ministers. If someone is buried in Jidi, his descendants will be extremely important. " Everyone thought it was reasonable, so they had to bury Liao Gong's face in mud sadly and reluctantly.
A few years later, Liao Ji, the grandson of the tomb owner, became an official, ranking first among six ministers and nine ministers. At that time, both the government and the people called Liao Zhongzai and Liao Tianguan, which were the highest officials of historical celebrities in Hainan, and truly verified the auspicious words that "Maling is a public official".
It is said that Liao Tianguan once went back to his hometown to pay homage to this tomb, and erected the monument of "Tomb of Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Liao Shangshu", which has now been destroyed. During the Republic of China, the descendants of Liao Tianguan sometimes sacrificed to Maling by boat from the sea, and sometimes by helicopter around Maling.
Many curious people sometimes want to go up the mountain to have a look, but they are either lost in the fog or scared by poisonous snakes and bees, and few people can visit them in person.
Today, there is still an ancient temple at the foot of the ridge. The horizontal plaque says Hou Wang Temple at the end of the ridge. The left-wing couplet reads "Lingyan is awesome" and the right-wing couplet reads "selfless photos of the tail star". Miao Lian probably said that with the good spirit of Ma Ling, Liao Tianguan, as brilliant and selfless as Wei Xing, was born.
(edited) There is no detailed record in the official history about where Liao Tianguan was born. But so far, the tortuous and moving story of Liao Tianguan's birth is still circulating in Wanning and Lingshui.
Legend has it that Liao Ji's father, Liao Jue, is charming and handsome. He became a disciple of Bulingshui County at the age of 16. Because he is knowledgeable and kind, even the county magistrate loves him very much, so he often goes in and out of the county government. The county magistrate surnamed Wang, a native of Dongguang County, Hejian Prefecture, Zhili Province, has a daughter under his knee, dignified and beautiful, and has a good writing style, and has a good impression on Liao Xuan.
One day, Miss Wang found Liao Xuan's accidentally lost folding fan, and wanted to test her talent, so she wrote a picture of a fish swimming on the fan and asked someone to return it to him. When the fish swam, Liao Jue turned on the electric fan to fan the wind. It turned out to be a wonderful couple of "fan fish swimming, fan fish swimming". Liao Xuan thought hard for a long time, and occasionally touched him and said, "Shoes wear flowers, shoes dance phoenix." From then on, Miss Wang secretly promised. One to two, the feelings are in harmony. Two of a kind, Zhu Bei is pregnant with Liao Ji.
In ancient times, getting pregnant before marriage was a shameful thing for family members. Magistrate Wang was so angry that he didn't know what to do. There is only one plan, to beat Yuanyang and take her daughter back to her hometown. When sailing on the sea, the magistrate Wang was scared to death at the thought of such humiliation, even raising his head in front of the villagers. He was about to push his daughter into the sea when thunder and lightning broke out. I saw the words "Lord Liao Tianguan is coming" shining in the sky, and a strange voice rang out in my ear:
"Master Liao Tianguan is on board, so you should be careful."
King magistrate of a county knew the signs and didn't dare to move. The boatman was also surprised at the time. He looked around the ship and saw that no one was a big official. How could there be a "heavenly official here"? I only saw a pregnant woman, dignified and elegant, as if nothing had happened, and my heart was relieved. The child born in the future must be not simple.
After Miss Wang returned to her hometown in Hebei, it was inconvenient to live in her parents' house, so she had to live in an ancient temple and gave birth to Liao Ji.
Liao Xuan and his lover left each other a red embroidered shoe as proof of mutual recognition. Liao Xuan traveled across the ocean, selling candy cakes all the way, determined to find her relatives.
One day, I went to a school palace to take shelter from the rain, and just took out my wet clothes and red shoes to dry. Suddenly, a five-or six-year-old child ran over and said, "How did you steal my mother's red shoes?"
Liao Xuan was very surprised at the moment. Seeing him so cute, he said, "Don't talk nonsense, little friend." I want to give him candy cakes to eat.
But the child said, "My mother said not to eat strangers' food. "
Liao Xuan was about to ask his name when the child ran away with red shoes. Liao Xuan secretly cheered. That's his child. He began to chase the child's door. He only saw a young woman talking to the child. Although she hadn't seen her for years, she recognized the girl of her dreams. As the ancients said, all's well that ends well. Since then, Liao Xuan's family has finally reunited. Later, after studying hard, Liao Ji really became an official, and people called him Liao Tianguan.
This story is very true, because the Liao Jia Genealogy preserved by Liao Ji's descendants in Qionghai and Wanning also mentioned Liao Xuan's true love story: the husband and wife naturally got married, and the mother was also a legacy of the poem.
According to the villagers in Liaozhuang, the dock where Liao Ji was born, Liao Tianguan is not a local. His family pushed his mother with a trolley to escape from the desert and lived in a Guandi temple by the Nanyun River. One day, it was thundering and raining heavily, and two officials in charge of grain went to the gate of Guandi Temple to take shelter from the rain. Suddenly, there was a baby crying in the temple. Officials were surprised when they learned that a baby boy was born. They said that with us guarding the gate, the child would enjoy great happiness in the future and gave them two bags of noodles. So far, Guandi Temple has been broken, but an ancient well still exists. This is a link to Liao Tianguan's birth story.
The folklore of the north and the south is both magical and somewhat consistent, which makes people listen with relish and marvel at it every time.
(edited) In Matou Town, 37 kilometers northeast of Fucheng County, Hebei Province. There is a village called Liaozhuang (formerly under the jurisdiction of Dongguang County). This village was originally named Jiangzhuang. Liaozhuang changed during the Zheng De period of Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1506- 152 1).
The mention of changing the name of the village is related to Liao Ji's change from a beggar to an official. By the way, Liao Ji. Liao's basic name is Liao hei. Originally from Qiongtai, Guangdong, his grandfather, grandmother and 18-year-old father, a family of three, traveled thousands of miles to Jiangcun. His grandparents and his father make a living by shouldering jobs and doing short-term jobs. Later, his father married a wife here and gave birth to Liao Ji.
Liao Ji lived a beggar's life when he was a child, but he was very clever. It is said that when he is begging, he often listens to Mr. Zou outside a private school in Zouqiao. He quickly recited everything the teacher taught him. One day, Mr. Zou asked the students to recite, but Liao Ji recited it outside the door. Teacher Zou saw Liao Ji's outstanding talent, so he took him in and raised him to study. Later, Mr Zou introduced him to a county official in Dongguang for foster care. Liao Ji was finally admitted to Jinshi, and finally became the official minister of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty. People call him Liao Tianguan. After Liao Ji became a celestial official, his life and that of his family were improved. Later, he married his daughter Liao Xu to a strong horse in the village. Since then, Jiangzhuang has been renamed Liaozhuang.
According to the survey, there are no descendants of Liao Ji in Liaozhuang, Dongguang and Fucheng today. The villagers said that his descendants had already returned to their hometown from the sea.
(According to folklore, Sun Kai, former deputy director of propaganda department of Fucheng County) Liao Tianguan's family moved the capital from Hainan and lived in Matou Town, Dongguang County (now under the jurisdiction of Fucheng). China's mother, the Henan Canal, passed through from then on, which is an artery of economic and cultural exchanges between the North and the South.
Why they live in Wharf Town leads to another touching legend.
When Liao Tianguan's family trudged northward near Wan Li, they met an old man who was hungry and fell on the side of the road. His grandfather, Liao You, was kind-hearted, came forward to rescue him, took out a few mouthfuls of dry food left, and carefully fed the old man. The old man is a fortune teller. Seeing his kindness, he said that wherever you go, as long as you see "there are trees on the car and cows on the house", you will stay there, and your children and grandchildren will be either rich or expensive.
One day, when they passed Jiangzhuang in Wharf Town (formerly known as Wharf) and were about to cross the river, they saw an old lady spinning cotton under the tree. Suddenly, a calf came running. The old lady was so scared that she hung the spinning wheel on the tree, and the calf was also frightened. She ran to a mound and jumped into a small hut. Liao could remember the old man's instructions, so he settled down at the dock. And soon live in harmony with honest and kind locals. Later, his grandson Liao Ji became an official and a loyal minister.
This story shows that as long as people have love and do more good deeds, there will be noble people to help them.
This story was dictated by Ma Kuigui, an 80-year-old man in Wharf Town. ) When Liao Tianguan was a child, his family was poor and he begged for a living everywhere. One day, he was pulling pig grass by the South Canal and met Zou, a famous teacher of Zou Jiaqiao, who set up a library in his village. Zou Yuan saw a yellow umbrella on his head and thought it was a good sign. He asked questions and answered questions, so he accepted it as a lover and tried his best to train and teach him Shi Mao. Liao Tianguan is very clever, doesn't like eating, drinking and having fun, and studies hard. 26-year-old, Beijing Chinese-style Juren, failed in three subjects. At the age of 36, I was finally admitted to Jinshi. It is really "painstaking management, heaven rewards diligence."
One year, Mr Zou, his first teacher, was going to Beijing to visit Liao Tianguan, a student he had painstakingly trained. Unexpectedly, I stayed in a hotel in the suburbs of Beijing for more than ten days, but I never entered the doors of Tianguan. One day, Liao Tianguan went out on patrol and happened to pass by this store. Zou stopped the way and shouted, "It's hard to see Liao Hei!" Liao Tianguan immediately got off the sedan chair, respectfully helped Mr. Zou into the sedan chair, and returned to the mansion.
The eighth year of Jiajing (1529) happened to be Liao Tianguan's 75th birthday. Ministers came to Liaozhuang to celebrate Liao Tianguan's birthday. Zhang Cong is here. He took out a picture of Shao's "Fish and firewood Q&A" in Song Dynasty and asked Liao Tianguan to answer the poem. I want to take this opportunity to test whether Liao Tianguan is going out to help the emperor again. Liao Tianguan knew what this meant, so he asked Mr. Zou to answer. Zou reads a poem in front of a painting (in the painting, the woodcutter is chopping wood in a tree, the fisherman is fishing by the river, and the county magistrate is watching from a distance). "Stone forest deadwood is a firewood axe, and its greedy fish take the bait. I must believe that Fu Yao is interested, so I don't want to paint. " Liao Tianguan was very happy to see it, and then continued a poem: "Shao Zi's painting is not easy, so I advise you to fish Qu Yuan in Xiangjiang River. My teacher is not confused, and Jia is not. In the Tang Dynasty, Zhou Jun played Xianke, and those who lost their official positions were afraid of famous ministers and sages. Where is the official hook? Jiangzhou Tao Wang Qian returned to the field. " Zhang Cong had to shake his head and forget about it.
Later, after Liao Tianguan died, Zou refused to accept relief and starved to death in Xiangbi Temple.
(According to folklore, Sun Kai, former deputy director of the Propaganda Department of Fucheng County) Long ago, Liao Ji's parents moved north. One night, I crossed the Luoyang River in Quanzhou by boat, and suddenly a big storm came and blew the boat around. The situation is very dangerous. An old man thought the ship was going to sink. He just fell asleep and waited for death. In his dream, he heard someone shouting, "Liao Tianguan is on this ship. Come and protect the ship, don't let it sink! "
Until the next morning, the calm and safe old man recalled last night's dream and asked Liao Tianguan to thank him, but the guests on board were puzzled. Seeing Liao Xuan and his wife, the old man told them his dream and said, "I think my wife is pregnant with your son." Liao's wife said, "If only that. If I am lucky enough to have a child, I must build a Luoyang bridge to let people walk safely. " The old man repeatedly thanked him and said it was rare.
Time flies, Liao Ji grows up, handsome, smart and agile. I am very motivated in reading. The senior high school entrance examination is a scholar, and the official is the official minister. I went home to celebrate my parents' birthday this Spring Festival. This is a beautiful day, and friends and relatives come to congratulate. It's too noisy. It's just that Liao's mother is unhappy. Liao Ji asked his mother, "Why are you unhappy?" Liao's mother told him about crossing the Luoyang River decades ago and said, "It seems that it is difficult to realize the wish to build Luoyang Bridge, so I feel unhappy!"
Liao Ji is a dutiful son, determined to rebuild Luoyang Bridge and satisfy his mother's wish. After he returned to Beijing, he made a public announcement, explaining the significance of raising funds to build Luoyang Bridge, and invited a gentleman with a kind heart to donate money. His filial piety and righteous deeds touched Guanyin. Guanyin incarnated as a beautiful girl, rowing a boat and wandering around the Luoyang River, singing and dancing: don't be an emperor, don't be a king, and Jiangshan doesn't want a beauty. One ingot of gold, one or two pieces of silver, in your wedding room. The girl sang and danced back and forth on the boat, which attracted many spectators on the shore. Those lecherous people covet it, misers love it, and they throw gold, silver and jewels at the girl at all costs. I saw gold ingots and silver falling on the boat, but they couldn't hit the beauty. I was so angry that a rich man told four domestic slaves to carry two boxes of gold and silver and throw them at beautiful women day and night on the shore. They almost missed, and threw away two boxes of gold and silver for nothing, so that his hair would be pulled out.
For three days in a row, a boat full of gold ingots and silver. Lv Dongbin, the Eight Immortals, knew that she was the embodiment of Guanyin, and she also wanted to throw money to the girl. Guanyin realized something long ago and smiled and said, "It's too late to welcome the Spring Festival, and the boat is full of silver." So he rowed the boat into the smoke in the distance and disappeared.
One day, Guanyin became an old man and donated all the gold and silver ingots on board to Liao Ji. Liao Ji kowtowed and thanked again and again with joy. He immediately set out to build Luoyang Bridge, which not only made it convenient for pedestrians, but also comforted his mother.
Although this story is a legend, Liao Ji's valuable spirit of benefiting the people when he was an official is worthy of praise by future generations. It is from this story that the phrase "late will never meet spring" has become the "mantra" of people today.
