Who will tell us the history of Nazi U47 submarine?

The myth of u-submarine

Because the word submarine in German begins with the letter U, people used to call Nazi submarines U boats.

Major Genscher Prin, captain of U47 submarine.

U-47 * * * made ten patrols and * * * sailed at sea for 238 days. 33 merchant ships (* * * 164953 tons) were sunk and 8 ships were damaged. [3]

First patrol

The U-47 was deployed to the Seventh Fleet on19381February 7 17 (the day of launching). Before the war broke out in September, 1939 had been sent to sea, ready to exchange fire with enemy ships immediately once the war broke out. It began its first patrol in August 1939 (two weeks before the war broke out). During the patrol, the U-47 circled the British Isles and entered the Bay of Biscay. It sank three merchant ships in the Bay of Biscay (Bosnia, Rio Carlo and Galta Von).

The second patrol and sinking of Royal Oak Above: U-47' s path into Scarpa Bay.

1939101On October 8th, U-47 began its second patrol. On June 1939, 10, 14 (6 days after departure), U-47 successfully infiltrated the Royal Navy's base in Scarpa Bay. [6] Although most of the ships of the British fleet were not in the base, U-47 also successfully found the target, HMS Royal Oak [7]. U-47 fired a torpedo immediately after it found the Royal Oak, but the first two torpedoes failed to hit the target. The U-47 fired the Miki torpedo immediately after reloading the torpedo, causing the Royal Oak to seriously enter the water. Then, the Royal Oak's hull tilted 15 degrees, and the open porthole made the hull worse, and the hull tilted to 45 degrees. It sank within 15 minutes, killing more than 800 people [6]. Captain Gunter Prien was later called "Cow in Scarpa Bay" (German: Derstier von Scarpa Flow, English: "Bull in Scappa"), and later a jet cow was painted on the control tower of U-47. This has become the symbol of the entire Seventh Fleet. Two crew members and the captain were awarded the Knights Cross, and the rest of the crew were awarded the Knights Cross.

Third patrol

After celebrating the sinking of the Royal Oak in Berlin, the crew of U-47 went to sea on 10/939116. [8][9] After leaving Kiel Port, it immediately sailed for the North Sea. After touring the British Isles, the Bay of Biscay and the English Channel, the U-47 sank three more merchant ships (Navasota, Brittany and Tajandorne). After the sinking of the Navasota, the British navy destroyer fired a deep-water bomb at the U-47, but the U-47 escaped without being damaged [9].

Fourth patrol

On March 1940, 1 1, U-47 left Port William and began the fourth patrol. On the sea 19, U-47 searched the allied merchant fleet in the North Sea. But it only successfully launched a torpedo in Brittany on March 25, 1940. After sinking the ship, U-47 returned to Port William on March 29th [10].

Fifth patrol

U-47s didn't sink any ships during the fifth patrol. It left Port William on April 3rd 1940 and sailed for the North Sea again. During the patrol, it did not sink the allied ships. On April 19, U-47 fired a torpedo at HMS war paint, a British naval warship, but it didn't hit the warship. Subsequently, the British navy destroyer fired a depth charge at the U-47, but the U-47 managed to escape again. [ 1 1]

Sixth patrol

U-47' s sixth patrol was more successful. On June 3rd 1940, after leaving Kiel Port, U-47 went to the south bank of Ireland. The first ship to be sunk was the British Balmoralwood. Within a month, U-47 sank seven more ships (san fernando, Catherine, Rhonda, leticia, Imperial Toucan, St. George Kiriya Kidess and SS Arandola's Star). After 34 days at sea, the U-47 returned to Kiel for its seventh patrol on July 6.

The U-47' s seventh patrol was conducted in the North Atlantic in southern Iceland. During the 30-day patrol, U-47*** sank 6 ships and damaged 1 ship. 1On September 2, 940, U-47 won its first victory in the seventh patrol and sank the Belgian passenger ship Ville de Mons. Then sank the British merchant ship Titan on September 4th. On September 7th, three ships were sunk, namely the Gro, Jose de Larinaga and Neptune. On September 9th, U-47 sank the Greek merchant ship Possidon and damaged the British merchant ship Elmbank on September 2nd/Kloc-0. After these successes, the U-47 entered the French port of Laurian (a German Ports in northern France during the French campaign) on September 25th [13].

Ninth patrol

165438+1October 3, U-47 began its ninth patrol to search for allied merchant ships in the North Atlantic. During the 30-day patrol, U-47 sank 1 ship and damaged 3 ships. On the ninth patrol, U-47 asked Gon? The Alo Velho, Conch and Dunsley were damaged; A sunken city? The last time Alan U-47 entered the French port of Laurian was on February 6th, 65438 [14].

Lost.

U-47 was lost on March 7th, 194 1. It is believed that this submarine was sunk by the British navy destroyer HMS Wolverine in the West Irish Sea, when it was attacked by HMS Wolverine and HMS Verity.

During its service, U-47 sank 30 merchant ships and 1 warship, and damaged 8 merchant ships and 1 warship.
