On Shi Qiang, a Three-body Character

Recently, I am revisiting "Three-body".

As a science fiction novel that has circled the world countless times, I think whether I have read it or not, I must know some plots or characters in the book more or less.

Of course, as a novel that is popular all over the world, many people have made countless interpretations, so it can be said that this book was dissected to pieces. As an ordinary reader, my understanding of this book is only superficial, and I can't dig out anything deeper. Here I just want to talk about a seemingly unimportant figure in the book-Shi Qiang.

Besides Luo Ji, Shi Qiang is my favorite character.

He is capable but not smart, rude but not vulgar. Although he does things by hook or by crook to achieve his goal, his starting point is good, in terms of career.

He won't flatter his superiors, but he has Chang Weisi's relationship with the military. More than 20 years later, he is just a captain of the criminal police, which is earned by his own ability. He is simple-minded, with nothing in his mind, except to solve the case and want to live a better life.

In my opinion, it is very important for Liu to arrange this character. If Wang Miao is the pioneer of human beings entering space on a large scale, then Shi Qiang is the founder; If Luo Ji is the god who saved the solar system and mankind when the three-body invaded, then Shi Qiang is the savior of God.

In "Three-body Man 1", under the scientific blockade of the three-body man, Wang Miao and Ding Yi, who gave up on themselves, continued to develop and produce high-strength nano-materials inspired by the struggle between locusts and humans in Shi Qiang, which led to the emergence of human space elevators in the subsequent plot. Three-body and Earth Three-body organizations initially targeted Wang Miao because of his research. Three-body people are afraid that humans will build space elevators with nano-materials, which will make humans leave the earth on a large scale and enter near-earth space, thus forming an effective defense against the three-body people.

In three body 2, Shi Qiang took Luo Ji's life from the sickle of death many times, which leads to what I think is the most wonderful part of the book: the confrontation between Luo Ji and the three-man body. Luo Ji terrorized three people with the state of "dark forest" of the universe, and strived for a peaceful life for mankind for more than 60 years.

Liu didn't explain the ending in the book, but I think his ending should be quite good. An outspoken man has saved the earth many times. How could Liu give him a tragic ending? After all, Shi Qiang and Cheng Xin are completely opposite.
