The source of huskies

Siberian husky is a primitive and ancient dog breed, and its name comes from husky's unique hoarse cry. Chukchi, a primitive tribe in northeastern Siberia, used this wolf-like dog as the most primitive means of transportation to pull sleds, and used this dog to hunt and raise reindeer, or brought this dog out of the frozen soil where they lived in exchange for food and clothing. Huskies are very suitable for the polar climate environment because of their small size, small appetite, no body odor and cold tolerance, and have become an important property of Chukchi people.

1909, a Russian fur merchant "William Gusak" came to Nome, a small town in Alaska, with the first Chukchi dog team, to participate in the local dog sled race. This Chukchi dog began to be loved by local dog sled lovers with its super-fast speed and tenacious perseverance. Since then, these small and compact beautiful varieties have been recognized by Alaska locals.

1925 In June, diphtheria was prevalent in Nome, a remote town in Alaska. Because the city where the serum was recently stored was 955 miles away, there was a helicopter that could transport the blood to a place 657 miles away from Nome, but it happened that the helicopter returned to the mainland for a holiday, and no one could fly it. In order to transport diphtheria serum back quickly, it was decided to use husky sled team instead of transportation. According to the normal transportation speed at that time, it takes about 25 days to drive 657 miles. Due to the rapid spread of the disease, the sled team decided to relay the serum. Under the premise that the sled team went all out, it took only five and a half days to complete the task and saved countless lives. At that time, Togo, the first dog as the leader, was over ten years old. After a long journey, he withdrew from the sled race due to a leg injury and died in 1929. His body was deposited in the National Museum of the United States, and a Togolese monument was erected in new york Central Park for future generations to pay tribute to.

Although huskies arrived in the United States very early, it was not until 1930 that the American kennel club officially listed huskies as purebred dogs and formulated breed standards. Later, some American huskies established the American Husky Club (SHCA for short) at 1938, and huskies really began to be accepted by the whole world.
