What have you done to double your salary in the workplace?

I'm Emma, an Internet practitioner. My colleagues and I like to call ourselves "internet women workers" because weaving data and documents seem to be similar to the intensive cultivation of textile women workers.

I used to be an unbearable "female worker": I graduated in 2020 with a starting salary of 6000, and it is difficult to get enough food and clothing in my city; But I am also a "female worker" who is proud of the spring breeze: today in 2022, I work as a product operator in the head company of an Internet subdivision track, with a monthly salary of 18000.

Of course, as far as salary is concerned, I can only calculate the "average line" of this city: not as good as programmers, not as good as classmates in very large companies. I just feel that I have gained something. I have no intention of preaching here. I refuse to sell anxiety?

Background: I am an undergraduate in 2020, and my school is OK. My Chinese major is called interactive media art, so I usually make animation models, copy some half-baked codes, and then spell a paper (very watery).

During the whole university, I was very confused and didn't know the meaning of learning (I failed in Grade 24 and almost got fired ... I dropped out of school 1 year). To be very responsible, in the past five years, I have done nothing but get a diploma: just dress up in bars, read novels and cartoons in the middle of the night, brush a pink forum, and hang out as a keyboard man in QQ groups ...?

To sum up, it even means "bottom spice girl": nothing+nothing, GPA bottom, friends bottom, self-pursuit bottom.

The monthly salary is 6000 to 18000, which must be an unreachable dream for me three years ago.

Writing this line seems easy, but the process is quite tortuous: there is no miracle. In three years, regret+anxiety+self-doubt runs through. Come out to mix, always pay it back! The water in my head during my study is the tears of my work. I don't have a bright internship experience. I majored in liberal arts and art. I don't know how to program, score, and have no scientific literacy and humanistic feelings. When I first listened to "requirements review", I didn't even understand what "requirements" were. So at the bottom, I can feel a lot of "non-technical", "double non-"and "shocking liberal arts students" internet anxiety.

My first job taught me the motto.

I dare not say how good I am now, but at least, I feel that I am "starting" and I am worthy of my monthly salary. Therefore, I have found three experiences from these years for your reference.

Don't aim too high when you are inferior to others.

Adhere to systematic reading+as close as possible to big brother.

The premise of job-hopping is good enough.

Let's talk-

1. Basic cognition: "Big factory complex" is not desirable, and small companies also have business experience that can be squeezed.

I know that most recent graduates (including myself) will feel that they are "not top-notch, but not bad". This kind of cognition will more or less give birth to the "big factory complex": I really want to enter the byte Tencent Ali Meituan and so on!

This kind of complex is easy to make people suffer (like me), because the current employment situation is that there will always be someone who is more suitable and more cost-effective than you (finding a job is the same as dating, and Excellence and matching are completely different), and the bigger the company, the more so. For example, in my department, for a post with a starting salary of 9,000 yuan this year, I received 600 resumes and screened 50 people, all of whom were masters+international students+internships with rail companies. ..............

Big companies are really good, but please remember that Excellence is the premise of breaking the circle, not the result. If it's hard to admit your limitations, it's just a broken head and a late-night emo. The top position of the pyramid is limited, and there are opportunities in middle and even small factories: I firmly believe that every job and business has the value of being drained by me, and new experiences and new understandings can be written into my resume every day.

Of course, in small companies, parallel imports are inevitable. During the 1 year when I worked, (almost) my colleagues in the same department couldn't make a living. There is no value judgment here, and work means different things to everyone.

This situation is very bad! But let's not bury the outside (because it's no use burying the outside). The following is the process of my barbaric growth:

2. The road to evolution: insist on systematic reading+"play the big brother"

When watching a product manager's live broadcast last year, the other party said that "at least 50 books a year is a qualified product". This sentence shocked me greatly at that time, so I began to stumble on the road of reading: delete the game Weibo, put WeChat reading on the top of the phone folder, and try to read professional books every week > =8 hours.

I hereby guarantee that if you can get into the habit of changing the "daily basic configuration" and stick to it for half a year, the whole person will be as hanged in the workplace, and both the output strategy and the summary report will be sublimated.

Some good books I have read!

It means a lot to me to pick it out at 2 o'clock here:

A. Reading is called "reading" books, but don't really just "read" books. Especially reference books, the focus is on "remembering"&; "Understanding"&; "Practice". I have read a product-related introductory book three times and made thousands of words of reading notes. When I encounter problems in my work, I take them out in time, which is very sublime.

b.? Fragmented knowledge can only be forced, and systematic reading can be advanced. It's certainly a good thing to join various product groups, but from my experience, what I get in the group is mostly "information"+"other people's thought fragments", which is difficult to "precipitate"+"reflect", so I won't recommend students who haven't started yet and spend too much time chatting in the group. Other people's knowledge is empty, and it is true when you eat it in your own mouth.

In addition to reading, I also like to extract and sort out the output released by the big boss on WeChat official account, video number, small newsboy, instant messaging, small universe and so on. I am a person who often works hard unconsciously, so I will force myself to stand on the shoulders of giants.

There is a concept in psychology called "role-playing" (friends who have seen "The Lord of Secrets" must have a deep understanding). When we dabble in the ideas of bosses, play the role of "boss" and talk about meetings and interviews like bosses, over time, we can also fill our knowledge base from the outside to the inside.

3. The company sucks. Do you want to change your job? Of course. But job-hopping itself does not make people excellent. On the contrary, because they are good enough, they will go to a better place.

I worked by myself for 3 years and danced twice. So I am quite indifferent to the frequent job-hopping behavior of the Internet (but I don't support naked resignation). In short, don't jump from one pit to another just to jump from one job to another.

Under what circumstances should I jump ship? In my opinion, it is a better situation. The method of becoming excellent has been mentioned above, so how do you judge whether you are excellent or not?

My practice is to take out the PRD (Product Requirements Document) written a few months ago for tasting. If I can feel obvious problems, it means that I have made progress. If not, I may have to work harder recently, read more books and talk to my tutor more!

It is difficult to find a job now. How to grasp every interview well, every sentence in the interview becomes particularly important. Raise a soldier for a thousand days, and use it for a while. In fact, everyone has an answer in their heart that their ability is enough to change jobs: only they know best when they work hard.

Sometimes we have to go back to the old saying "Gold always shines". But it's really not easy to be the gold in the workplace.

The above three experiences are also my answers to my three-year work. These are basic trivial matters and simple truths, but sometimes we have to admit that the vast majority of workers (whether you or I) are ordinary people with ordinary qualifications and resources ... If we don't admit our mediocrity and always want to take shortcuts, it will lead to the waste of our final qualification: willing to work hard.

No matter what you do, you must persist. Doing it for a while is ineffective and not smooth, which is often the case: we are ordinary people! Many times, hard work is enough.

Take the initiative to attack, overcome fears, meet challenges and make difficult choices. This is called real efforts.
