The past and present life of Medog Highway_900 words

Medog County was once the last county with access to roads among the more than 2,100 administrative counties in the country. Human porters were the only mode of transportation here. The locals lived a primitive life almost isolated from the outside world; Shi Pots and chopsticks are the only commodities shipped out of the mountains.

Going north along the Yarlung Zangbo River to Medog County, the whole journey is about 115 kilometers and takes 4 days to walk. This road is passable from June to October every year; the other is to walk along the Zhamo Highway from Bomi County, with a total distance of 141 kilometers. Due to the obstruction of Galong Mountain, this road can only be passed to 80 kilometers after the ice and snow on the mountain melts from August to early October every year, and then walk for two days to Medog County. At other times, it can only cross the Galong Mountain at an altitude of 4,640 meters. Longla Pass takes about 5 days to walk under normal circumstances.
