The difference between cmwap and cmnet access points

Let’s first talk about the difference between cmwap and cmnet. Many people know that these are two different access points provided by China Mobile, but when it comes to the difference, I am afraid many players are not very clear. In fact, CMWAP and CMNET are just two GPRS access methods artificially divided by China Mobile. The former is set up for WAP Internet access on mobile phones, while the latter is mainly used for PCs, laptops, PDAs, etc. to use GPRS Internet access services. There is no difference in their implementation methods, but because of their different positioning, compared with CMNET, CMWAP has some restrictions and there are also differences in tariffs.

WAP is just a GPRS application mode, and it has nothing to do with the GRPS access method. The implementation method used by WAP applications is the "terminal + WAP gateway + WAP server" mode, which is different from the "terminal + server" working mode of the general Internet. The main purpose is to complete WAP-WEB protocol conversion through the WAP gateway to save network traffic and be compatible with existing WEB applications. From a technical point of view, the WAP gateway is just a host that provides proxy services, and it is not necessarily provided by the network operator. But as far as I know, the mobile GPRS network currently has only one WAP gateway: 10.0.0.172, which is provided by China Mobile for WAP browsing (HTTP) service. One thing to note is that there is a difference between a WAP gateway and a general LAN gateway. The standard WAP gateway only implements the function of an HTTP proxy and does not complete the functions of a LAN gateway such as routing and NAT. This determines its limitations in application.

In order to distinguish the positioning of the two from the application, China Mobile has imposed certain restrictions on CMWAP, which is mainly reflected in the fact that CMWAP can only access the IP within the GPRS network (10.*.*.*) , and cannot access the Internet through routing. We use CMWAP to browse web pages on the Internet through the WAP gateway protocol or the HTTP proxy service it provides. That is, the only WAP gateway that needs to go through the mobile GPRS network: 10.0.0.172. CMNET has full Internet access rights, so I won’t go into details here. Let’s mainly take a look at CMWAP. Because of the limitations mentioned above, the scope of application of CMWAP depends on the support provided by the WAP gateway. Currently, the mobile WAP gateway only provides HTTP proxy protocol (ports 80 and 8080) and WAP gateway protocol (port 9201).

Therefore, only applications that meet the following two conditions can work properly under the mobile CMWAP access method: 1. The application's network request is based on the HTTP protocol. 2. The application supports HTTP proxy protocol or WAP gateway protocol. cmnet is not subject to any restrictions.

In fact, it means accessing through cmwap. You need to use a mobile gateway to connect. It is directly connected to the server of Infinite Universe on the Internet, and the speed will be faster than cmwap. After talking about speed, it’s time to talk about price. If the player does not adopt a package, then cmwap and cmnet are the same, 1k three cents, or if you subscribe to a xx yuan package xM package, the excess part will cost 1k. At this time, the same price is the same. As far as I know, the cmwap version will have larger traffic, so it is better to use cmnet, which is faster and saves money. But for M-Zone users in many places, the situation may be a little different. M-Zone in some places can only access cmwap and not cmnet, so they have no choice. There are also M-Zone monthly Internet cards in some places, which cost 10 yuan. 20 yuan, 50 yuan, etc., the specifics depend on the local tariff policy, and these monthly cards usually only include cmwap traffic. If you use cmnet at this time, you will have to pay extra, so it is recommended that these users use cmwap. Finally, to summarize, if the player's mobile phone card can only access cmwap or has a cmwap monthly package, then you should use the cmwap connection to play the game, otherwise using the cmnet connection is a better choice.
