The growth habits of real cypress: like light, slightly shade-tolerant, strong cold tolerance, also resistant to barrenness, can grow in rock crevices; soil requirements It is not strict and can adapt to both neutral soil and calcareous soil. However, fertile, deep and humus-rich soil is most suitable. For the basically formed true cypress bonsai, the following points should be paid attention to in daily maintenance:

1. There should be sufficient light, but appropriate shading must be provided in summer. In spring, summer and winter, it must be placed in a well-lit place and allowed to receive full sunlight to avoid dead branches and leaves inside.

However, when the ambient temperature exceeds 30℃ in summer, it should be moved to a place with 20~//0-30% shading, especially to avoid strong light exposure around noon to avoid high temperature and strong sunlight. Under light baking, the water supply is difficult to reach in time, resulting in the necrosis of nutrient fibrous roots on the surface of the pot soil. If the potting soil is too dry and is in a high temperature or non-ventilated environment, it can easily cause the needles and twigs to turn yellow and die.

3. Timely top dressing. During the growing season, you can apply decomposed thin cake fertilizer and water once a month, and repot and change the soil once a year in early spring to keep the needles green.

4. Prune in time. Remove the thin and dead branches from the inside, and prune the overly vigorous branches that protrude from the crown to maintain a clear and good plant shape.

5. Repot regularly. True cypress is generally repotted every 2 to 3 years, preferably in March to April in spring, but also in autumn. When repotting, properly prune the roots, remove 1/3 to 1/2 of the old soil, replace it with fertile and loose leaf rot soil, and mix in an appropriate amount of rice husk ash (that is, carbonized "exterior" rice husk ash, in the form of black) and sandy soil.

6. Disease prevention and control should be done properly. In hot and dry seasons, they are susceptible to spider mite damage.
