How to catch crickets

Tools and raw materials: sugar, bread crumbs, newspapers, beverage bottles.

1. Mix the same amount of granulated sugar and original bread crumbs. This is cricket food! If you catch a small number of crickets, one cup of sugar and one cup of bread crumbs will suffice.

2. Sprinkle cricket food where crickets gather. This method may work best outdoors, as dumping food on indoor floors can attract other animal pests, such as cockroaches and rats. At dusk, nocturnal crickets scatter food on the ground before coming out to feed.

3. Cover the food with a layer of newspaper. Place newspaper over sprinkled with sugar and crumbs. The newspaper used should not be more than one layer as it should not be too heavy. You should let the crickets get in.

4. Choose a large jar with a lid to catch crickets. Get a large glass jar or plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. If you want to catch the crickets and give them some air, you can punch holes in the lid.

5. Return to the place where the cricket was caught in the morning before the dew dried. This is prime time to catch crickets. At this time, the crickets are full and bulging, waiting quietly for you to catch them under the newspaper. If the sun dries out the fog, the crickets might escape.

6. Open the newspaper and put the crickets into the jar. You can use a spoon or brush to gently push the crickets into the bottle. Grab the cricket and tighten the cap.
