How are peanuts classified?

Peanuts in China are divided into four categories. Among them, there are ordinary type and dragon type. Both of them are densely branched, and there is no flowering on the main stem. Alternating flowering is called alternating flowering. The other two are pearl bean type and multi-seed type, with flowers on the main stem and sparse branches. Before the vegetative branches are produced, at least 3-4 flowers are continuously planted on the measuring branches, which is called continuous flowering. Common peanuts are widely distributed and cultivated in China. Its stems and branches are angular and hollow, and its pods are cocoon-shaped. Generally, there are two kernels in a pod, so it is also called a big peanut. Ordinary peanuts have moderate oil content and protein, and can be used for oil extraction and eating. This is the main peanut variety exported from China. Because of its long growth period and late maturity, it is mostly used for spring sowing. Longevity peanuts have long branches, creeping, round and solid stems and branches with fine hairs. The most prominent feature is that the pod horn is bent into a rod shape, with more than 3 capsules per pod, and the fruit mouth and keel (back) are obvious, so it is named because it looks like a dragon. Its nuts are slightly smaller and triangular, and the top and base ends often have oblique sections, also known as small seeds. Longsheng peanut has low oil content, high protein content, strong edible taste and good flavor. Cultivation has the advantages of drought resistance and barren resistance, but pods are easily lost in soil. Pearl bean-shaped nuts are bead-shaped or peach-shaped, with white, pink, red, purple-red, purple-black and other colors. Pods are small, cocoon-shaped, with thin shells, and some are gourd-shaped. Its seeds are high in oil content, suitable for oil extraction, and because of its high linoleic acid content and rich aroma after baking, it is deeply loved by people. This kind of peanut has thick and tufted stems, which are collectively called upright peanuts. Generally speaking, it shows early maturity and is suitable for planting in northeast double-cropping rice area and early-maturing peanut area. Multi-seed type, as the name implies, is multi-seed, and the pods are long and rod-shaped, with 2-4 seeds per fruit, but most of them are more than 3. The front and rear seeds are adjacent to each other, with small kernel and thick shell, which has the characteristics of extremely early maturity, but the yield is low, and most of them are planted in early-maturing peanut areas in Northeast China.
