The origin of street lamps

Lantern Festival is also called "Shangyuan Festival" and "Yuanxi Festival". Puxian Lantern Festival lasted for the whole first month, from the eighth day of the first month to the Spring Festival, to the fifteenth day of the first month, reaching its climax in most rural areas, until the end of the month, and gradually ending in rural areas such as Donghu Village in Xitianwei. On the Lantern Festival in Puxian, every household is decorated with lanterns and colorful activities. The stage of the festival is colorful, and there are many wonderful plays on the stage, and the unique folk "Walking Lights" activity is the most spectacular.

On the Lantern Festival night, "the bright moon is full of running water, and the spring lantern looks at the stars." A queue of lights for miles is like a golden dragon winding along a country road. According to legend, "You Deng" originated in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1522- 1566). The enemy harassed Xinghua (formerly known as Puxian County) and Qi Jiguang was ordered to come to the rescue. In order to confuse the enemy, Qi Jiajun ordered the people to light a lamp at night and swim in groups. The enemy thought the soldiers were coming, so they panicked and ran for their lives. Since then, "Walking Lights" has become a folk commemorative activity held during the Lantern Festival every year, giving people a rather unique aesthetic feeling and strength.

The Lantern Festival in Fengting Town, Xianyou County is very unique and lasts for five nights. There is also a touching story. According to legend, during the Song Dynasty, there were many officials in Lianjiang (now Fengting Town). They sent the unique technical forms and varieties of the Kyoto Lantern Festival back to their hometown, and merged them with the characteristics of the hometown Lantern Festival to form a unique Fengting Lantern Festival, which is very different from other places. It is said that one year when the Lantern Festival was approaching, the officials in the Imperial Palace living in North Korea invited the emperor to enjoy the lanterns in the Imperial Palace. The emperor asked, "When will the Lantern Festival be held?" The inviters all answered "the fifteenth day of the first month". The emperor took great pains not to hurt the harmony between officials and servants, but also to give the inviter face.

The emperor was impartial to the courtiers, promised to watch the lanterns in Fengting, and ordered the invited courtiers to hold a lantern festival from the 13th night to the 17th night of the first month. North Korea's Fengting officials mobilized the villagers in their original residence to make preparations in advance and tried their best to make their Lantern Festival grand and wonderful in order to win the appreciation of the emperor. Thus, from the 13th night to the 17th night of the first month of that year, the village where Fengting officials lived took turns to compete for an unprecedented lantern festival, and the emperor personally watched it. He was attracted by the colorful picture frames of the unique "centipede lamp" and "vegetable lamp" characters and the dragon and lion dances, and he was full of praise. He was given a royal gift of "inviting Yuanwan to monopolize the first spring of Fengjiang", "Dakui Tianxia" and "Dakui Tianxia".

Since then, it has become a habit to hold the Lantern Festival in Fengting for five consecutive nights, and the scale is getting bigger and bigger. The colorful frames of people's stories and the variety of lanterns are increasing, and the "Lantern Dragon" stretching for miles through the village is very spectacular.
