Where is the Nu River Bridge?

The Nu River Bridge is in Basu County.

The Tibet Line Nujiang Bridge is located in Basu County, Qamdo City, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. Known as the "throat artery on the Sichuan-Tibet Line", it is the core part of the kilometer long Sichuan-Tibet Line. It is now the third generation bridge of the Sichuan-Tibet Line. Before the opening of the Sandai Bridge, the Nujiang Bridge was not only guarded by armed police, but was not allowed to stop and take photos. Next to the Nu River Bridge on the Sichuan-Tibet Line, there is a pier that can never be demolished. There are heroic deeds hidden inside, and passing cars will honk their horns in salute.

The Nujiang Bridge is designed to pass through the cliffs on both sides of the Nujiang River, so builders need to climb to a 4,000-meter-high cliff for construction.

In order to facilitate construction at that time, the soldiers could only lower the rope from the top of the mountain, and then let the soldiers hold the rope and work downward. The ropes are equivalent to "soft ladders" one after another. It is by relying on these "soft ladders" that the soldiers move bit by bit on the cliffs to carry out construction.

Bridge Overview:

Since the day it was put into use, the Nujiang Bridge has been shouldering the arduous task of vehicle traffic on both sides of the Taiwan Strait at full capacity. Nowadays, the guardrails and pedestrian crossings on the entire bridge have cracked and peeled off to varying degrees.

In order to continue to extend the service life of the Nujiang Bridge and facilitate people's travel, with the approval of the state committee and government, and with the strong support of the Lushui County Party Committee and Government, the reinforcement and maintenance work of the Nujiang Bridge was completed in 2010. The construction period was officially launched on June 20, and the construction period was determined to be four months. During the construction period, traffic control will be implemented on the bridge, and vehicle traffic is strictly prohibited.

From June 20th to June 22nd, all motor vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited from passing through the Nujiang Bridge during the period of testing the technical parameters of the bridge structure before reinforcement.

From August 28th to October 2nd, all motor vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited from passing through the Nujiang Bridge for the purpose of construction and bridge deck construction.

From October 18th to October 21st, all motor vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited from passing through the Nujiang Bridge during the load test of the reinforced bridge. During the closure period, vehicles crossing the river must go around the Azabu River, and the time to cross the river has increased from 1 minute to 15 minutes.
